Most houses back in the 70s/80s were even older so the electricity wasn't stable, you had a higher risk of damaging small electronics plugged into the wall if the power ever had problems, which is why almost every piece of technology from that era has a battery option.

I say it's an old episode since he's playing GTA 4.
It's not current, but it's definitely modern. It's certainly not retro by any measure yet
My dad was telling me about how his family used to own a pong console back when he was a kid. He was describing it to me, saying it had four game modes. Tennis, Hockey, Handball, and Skeet shooting. He said that it had mechanical buttons to change the game modes that would light up and told me that you could pop out the controllers. I was thinking to myself, "that sounds so familiar. Where have I heard about this before?" I went back to this video to look for it, and lo and behold, 6:27 showed up and that was it! The Colorsport VIII. I showed some screenshots to my dad and he confirmed it. That was the one. Thanks for helping me out by making this video, James!

Brickbusters Neither have I, though it might have something to do with the fact that I rarely use the joycons for SSBU, which, given how much you jerk about the analogue stick in that game, probably is the cause of it (even the timing matches up)

That was only the case from the New 3DS onwards and that was probably because every Nintendo handheld in the DS and 3DS family uses the same AC adapter, so they assumed you'd have one lying around.
@@icarusmarioFAN No they didn't. The original DS used the Game Boy power connector, and the DS lite had its own unique power connector. Only the DSi/3DS shared a power connector.

My dad had that sears model but the controller didn't dismount. The reverse pong as you called it was basically pretty accurate discription. You score by letting the ball go through the hole. The game with the adjustable wall was a one player game.

5:07 There are multiple wires in one cable so one wire goes to the tv then any others are routed to the power supply to power the console & the connector would have at least 3 connections one for the tv one for ground & one for power which makes it really easy to make one box for both parts possibly to save space in the console

That's an oddly specific time frame.
You don't need the fork. Just strip the plastic off the wire a little bit, and wrap the cable around the screw that would hold the fork to the television. The forks fell off our old 2600 back in the day and that's how we had it hooked up. The forks are just there to make it easier, so long as the wire is connected to the screw on the TV in some way, it will work. You can also buy replacement forks and crimp them onto the ends of the wire.
You can make a game show with pong consoles. Whoever chooses the most consoles that works wins
