Slide guitar master Bob Brozman plays "Highway 49 Blues." From the Vestapol DVD "Bob Brozman in Concert." More info at stefan-grossmans-guitar-works...
@@moodswingy1973 yeah, it hurts to reconcile the talent with his sins. he did that (in a way) by taking his own life and preventing further destruction.
I wore out a couple of his cassette tapes in the ‘80’s, got his instructional tapes, played some slide. Gotta get back to it. No one plays at Brozman’s caliber. He can be frantic-sounding, but it’s authentically him, and played perfectly. There are lots of mellow songs he’s done which are absolutely beautiful. He was a genius, no doubt. He died way too young. Thanks, Bob.
Still can't believe he's gone... i was only just thinking it's been awhile since i've seen him play.. I feel privaliged to have seen him as many times as did. Such a great loss of talent and inspiration and just a generally nice, decent and humble human being. R.I.P. Bob , thanks for the music and the laughs. Never failed to make me smile.
Tony McLean Like Bill Cosby , that will overshadow your accomplishments as it should be. Yet people tend to look the other way about what a violent creep thug Frank Sinatra could be . Then there is Michael Jackson who is the one person I think was innocent
Tony McLean Michael Jackson Raper ?--- I don't think so. Molester --- possible. However I think he was definitely innocent in second case and the boy's Mother was exposed as a Celebrity Shakedown/Con Artist. If Michael Jackson was totally innocent , he was advised about Neverland Ranch by an Attorney saying people could get the wrong idea with his sleepovers etc. Warped by fame and never had a childhood - Yes but i just haven't seen the evidence in both of them. There are a lot of people who believe that Michael Jackson didn't do either one of them. I read . I just don't believe it and I am not Starstruck about anybody.
he killed himself cuz he got caught diddling his managers young daughter for years. I think she was like 5 when it started all the way to 14 years of age or something crazy.
Even now I remain troubled by the conundrum of whether one can leave aside the troubling stuff and enjoy the absolute mastery. Not listened to one of his CDs for many years.
This is a really great performance! He is in total command of technique, he has a load of nice licks/riffs/rhythms and ideas, he draws from the history of the music, he has very, very good sound, and one can immediately sense his deep feelings for his music. Thanks for sharing this one! Keep swinging, Rounder
I'm seeing him live next week - got tickets front center stage! Can't wait! PS: sorry, couldn't hold back... people like Brozman and Steve Vai aren't just guitarists, they're musicians. Artists. They've taken their craft to a whole other level to the point where they speak through their instrument. PPS: you don't have to be a dirt-poor black person from the depression era to have "lived the blues" or to "feel the blues".
From what I've read there were a few allegations of molestation made against him. The most damning was from a former tour manager who accused Brozman of molesting his daughter. Having said that, his guitar genius will live on but so will the allegations. Quite obviously there was a very positive side to his being but the negative, such as it is , will overshadow it
Saw him live in Sheffield upstairs at the grapes folk club...at first had group of noise lads spoiling his show ...not long he had quietened them down by his performances...they where the first ones shouting for more when finishing his set...this bloke was the real thing a brilliant innovative performer and guitarist...
I had the pleasure of jamming wae Bob a few times moons back. Lovely guy and killer guitar player. A pal of mine used tae be his European tour manager.
You people are sad. Don't allow ANY musicians personal life to affect your perception on the music. One has NOTHING to do with the other. Sit back, realize this man is a musical genius and enjoy the entertainment. If everyone were to nitpick every horrible thing all artists in the public eye were to have done, no one would listen to THE MUSIC!! I don't care to know what he did. I don't condone it, but I DON'T CARE. Your negative comments don't obscure his innovative methods of guitar playing. He is and always will be one of my favorite slide players, PERIOD.
the vast majority of people do not separate art from context. suggesting that the art has nothing to do with the artist is insane. you sound like a sociopath
great performance. so glad i found this guy. i think he encapsulates some of the pure blues feeling that the oldschool bluesmen like robert johnson had, and at the same time utilizes a unique technique. furthermore, how freakin cool is his slide and his beating on the fret board??
Just happened upon this. Didn't know he's been gone all this time. We saw him almost weekly in Santa Cruz. Took a couple lessons from him. Same intense, frenetic energy. R.I.P...
thank you. I love the sound of a National, My dad played one in the 30's Hawaiian style, You play it very well. I learned guitar on his National, first Hawaiian, then Spanish. I still have a wooden bodied national, that I rarely play. Still sounds great.
I see no need to criticize a guy because he was well fed and had music lessons. Also see no need to call anyone names. Sometimes your comments say more about you, than you intended.
I been playin slide for over 30 yrs and I can tell you this guy's a monster. He's playing palm harmonics all over the place.
Outstanding!
"This guy's a monster." Wow, perfect prediction.
@@moodswingy1973 yeah, it hurts to reconcile the talent with his sins. he did that (in a way) by taking his own life and preventing further destruction.
That's one hell of an extraordinary slide player. The world of music never fails to gift with such unknown gems.
This guy was an insane talent. Shame he's gone, there's not that many people nowadays that can play this caliber of slide guitar.

I learned to play the slide watching his instructional videos. He changed my guitar playing for life. Thanks Bob. RIP

I JUST discovered this guy.....hard to type with my jaw on the floor. Amazing musician
FYI, he's a child molester. So ya careful who you be showing this off to
I just can't believe he's gone to see Robert Johnson play guitar! A great loss.
As good as he is with the slide, it's his right hand that kills me. Just unbelievably precise.
Saw him live a couple of years ago on one of his infrequent tours of Australia and loved his guitar musicianship.... Absolutely Kick-ass performer.
Found this by chance, after watching a load of old blues. Was not expecting that! Blimey!
A master guitarist, a true musician and was a living link of American music. RIP Bob you'll be greatly missed.

Simply amazing!
That is some intense slide guitar... freaking awesome!

Totally...his talent equaled his sin...need I say more
I’m afraid to ask what the “troubling stuff” was.
Wow!!!!! What a great performance. I'm feeling it!!

"I don't care to know what he did." You don't care to KNOW? Would you talk like that if he was alive?
Or if it was your young children - Yes a great musician but 'DON"T CARE" - wouldn't want to be your neighbour!
Indeed, I would not want to live next to a cemetery, although they're the quietest neighbours you can imagine...
