There are far too few people in this world that even know what a Nashville metal bodied guitar is or how it was meant to be played. Damn few people. Thank you so much for your take on it... I mean that very sincerely.
It would help me out more today, if listening encourages them to buy some of my CDs. lol Being buried treasure is not what most artists aspires to achieve in their lifetime. lol
I live in Mississippi and sure do enjoy you boys who keep it alive. I play in a rock band as a drummer but always remember where the roots are. Thank you boys, ole blind willie would be proud of you.
blind willie Johnson is the greatest of the blues gospel singers ever. he was a genius ahead of his time asking in the 40s is a man only in his mind or if he had a soul something beyond the body. I love the guitar in this piece and the voice even a terrible singer like me can contribute a few bum notes too thanks guys
I cannot believe how amazing this song is. I have admired your rendition for quite some time and it still sends chills down my spine. You are both so inspirational. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. This style seemed to resonate with me. (sorry about the pun). I guess this accounts for how it gets expressed. If the performer feels it, usually the listener will too. I guess it simply cannot be forced.
It's great to see people keeping the old blues alive. There's a place reserved in heaven for you. I always like to encourage young people to go and listen to the original song, in this case by Blind Willie Johnson. Then you can appreciate this version even more.
The simplicity and purity of this music makes so enjoyable to listen to. Blues is where it's at. I have a few of Blind Willie Johnson's records. Great for on the road, at night, on a long trip.
Brothers, I discovered this video quite some time ago and I couldn't get it out of my heart if I wanted to. I've said it before and I still stand by it; this is the best rendition of the time, hands down. It makes me miss my Southern home something awful, thank you for helping this old dog keep his memories alive. Keep on with it, fellas, you've got pure gold.
Im often distracted by the many forms of blues... and that's a good thing too..... but whenever I land on a site as this.... I find my thinking stopped and Im then in the strictly 'absorbed-by-it'' mode. And... I want to remain right there. You see.... this opens and reveals to me a place in my soul that I just didn't even know was there.... til now.
I discovered this on music choice hella years ago. Wrote it down fired up and had to wait 30 minutes with dialup to play a damn song…hella worth the wait. Much respect to slide playas 🙏🫡
No. A resonator guitar has an aluminum cone inside that creates the vibrating tone similar to how a banjo uses a skin to produce it's unique sound. Thank you for your question.
On ferme les yeux, et on se laisse séduire par cette musique qui prend aux tripes et dont on ne se lasse jamais car c'est du vrai, du véritable, du pur... Merci.
Great! Listening to this music, having a glas of red wine, looking at the mother cat and her four cute kittens is the best closing of a beautiful spring Sunday! Thank you for posting! ;-)
Thank you for your comment. Regardless of metal or glass, thick walled and heavy usually works best. Glass is more dense than softer metals like brass and generally produces the superior tone. Guitar Set-up is really key for any guitar to produce it's best tone. The proper string tension for the slide is essential. Tuning and string guage are related. I hope this answers your question. Enjoy your practice.
Look toward the original. After that, I craft the lyrics the best I can to express the original intention of the song. Write your own rendition. I teach my rendition on CD 8. Ebay / Search: keni lee
Keni Lee Burgess no THANK YOU. This is beautiful and took me back to my youth and great times being a young man in my teens and early 20s the late 70s growing up in Southwest Va. Some great field partys and times with my friends who picked and sang. This has been a huge blessing to me this morning.
@02benaulim Thank you for taking the time to post your warm New Year Greetings. Best of Health, Wealth, and Happiness to you and yours for 2012. Enjoy.
Absolutely masterful guitar playing...Couldn't really tell what the harp was doing after the beginning though......The singer very sensibly doesn't try to imitate B.W.J, and his outfit conveys a respect for the music that is very welcome. This could stand as as a performance in a Country theatre around the turn of the (last) century-very authentic, very well done.Very admirable...D.R. Ya...in big cities too. In a way, pawn brokers function and step in, when the banks can't help you...after watching these currently popular shows about pawn shops...people should do a little homework first before pawning. Brokers are there to make a buck too...if they can get more for less, that is just good business. Thanks for sharing.

Life begets life. It is ceaseless without end. No coming or going. Unborn and unextinguished Life and death are simple subjective conveniences.

The blues can be complex but is often simple and sweet.

Thank you for your comment. Certainly not Bluegrass, but more of a country folk blues approach than a hard bitten Delta rendition. Enjoy.
