Wouldn't you be able to say, "What's done is done," about a week out from your child disappearing? Wouldn't you only feel guilty about what happened for just a few days, like them? Anyway, yeah, they are a strange duo, no doubt about it. I think if I lost a beloved pet, I'd show more concern than them -- and at least if a pet ends up with a stranger, they are probably feeding it and looking to bring it back, and not torturing it or worse.

I read Amaral's "A Verdade da Mentira" (The Truth of the Lie) and, at the time, watched many of the interviews he was asked to participate in. After being fired, insulted, humiliated for years, and put through pure hell, I was very happy to hear that Amaral was finally, and rightfully, vindicated. Thanks, Nick, for not giving up on this case...yet!

the arrogance of these parents is appalling. the fact they brought Scotland yard to Portugal to investigate the disappearance of Maddie says volumes. They tried very hard to control the media and the investigation to this day. In my opinion they are blaming everyone and their cousin for the disappearance of Maddie. I think it was an accident none of the less they are guilty of killing their own child

At the end of the day, a beautiful little girl is missing, presumed dead, and nobody is giving up any answers. She deserves some honesty. It will probably be one of those unsolved child abduction cases, and we may never know the truth. Certainly someone would be very satisfied if it was just a forgotten cold case. It really deserves to be kept open, and fresh reviews made regularly. And this series is doing a good job in seperating the chaff.

Well, they claimed, among other things, that: (A) The resort seemed super-safe, and vacationing in general is super-safe; (B) Partying at the tapas bar was equivalent to being in the backyard or garden of a house whilst the children slept just inside; and (C) They'd developed, along with their friends, a system for checking up on the children that was almost as good as being with them the whole time. No doubt they also compressed the time they were away, and downplayed the extent of their drinking. So these people seem pretty good at excusing themselves, both as events happen, and afterwards -- and seem much different, psychologically, than most normal parents with normal empathy and guilt.

If she did indeed die that night, it would be quite a feat to hide her body in a short period of time. Running around looking for a spot? They must have known that there would be searching and dogs would be used, that they wouldnt be taken at their word. And that they would be watched once the incident was reported. Their friends too. Did it happen earlier, a different day, giving them time to look for a hiding spot? Were they looking for one while on their, "jogs?" I also dont get asking their friends to get involved. !!!!! Covering up a death?? Finally, why not just report the accident? Was it an accident? Did she have injuries that would be determined to be intentional? If your kid has an accident and dies, wouldnt you be screaming and blind with hysteria? How were they able to contain their anguish? Not scream their lungs out? They saw she was dead and thought, "we gotta hide her?" Its so callous, creepy and bizarre. And dismissive and disrespectful of their daughter.

She Possibly died a day or two before the night that everyone told! There is no evidence of her being alive the day she was supposedly abducted, forged signatures on day club that day and no footage of her that day! As for not reporting a tragic accident if thats how she died, ask why, was she drugged so she would sleep through the night, or is there more of a disturbing reason why and there is no way parents would want a post mortem as it would reveal something else, ie abuse or SA for example! Im not saying this is why but if it was just an accident and parents were not there then yes they liable for neglect but surely you would have to take the fact and live with the guilt! MM died in apartment and dogs alerted to this, MM was moved by car at somepoint and cremated at near by church late one evening, she will never be found and those involved know this, the question is, why would if an accident, this be covered up, if an accident? No evidence of an abduction, but evidence of death, massive attempt to convince public of abduction by Mainstream media and government! Sorry but based on evidence available there was no abduction, so why so many high profile people involved and why were portugese police taken off case and have to take orders from uk authorities? Something not right at all

There are still strange stories leaking around the murder of this child. That death may not have been a total surprise, as certain types of behavior by a fairly large group of people, is full of unexpected tragedies. Another case that will not likely ever be solved, but should have been, years ago. The child went some 26 times to her pediatrician for bladder issues. Hello ! that is a flag for sexual abuse. Also one the kids ( which one ?) was smearing feces on the walls ; another sign of abuse..What sort of parent parades a little girl, making her look like a grown up, performing in Vegas, as a show girl ? Who does that ? It is warped. No wonder, she would normally wet the bed. These people would not get the parents of the year award !

We know Maddie was a poor sleeper who wandered at night. There was a star chart for nights she stayed in her own bed. She woke one night, she questioned being alone. we have only the parents word for it being the night before she was missed. The parents are drs with access and knowledge of sedation. I think it was normal both at home and on holiday to use sedation. One night possibly earlier in the week the dose was increased to ensure her not waking, but she did wake, dopey and unsteady she fell from the back of the sofa either head injury or positional affixation, died, bled from small wound. I think that all the tapas parents were sedating their kids, and that is why they colluded in hiding the body, and covering up supporting the kidnap theory all had a great deal to lose if there was an investigation of an accidental overdose. Did the body itself have to be in the car? Are the dogs able to tell if items which had been close to the body were carried in the car in the same way the hit on the toy and Kate's clothing? A tragic accident, covered up by parents scared to lose the twins and , careers, .who were faced with an option and people willing to support them for self interest. Once on that road they had to stay on it

Wow. It would be chilling if you've nailed how it exactly went down, since you seem to have explained almost everything. As for the road the parents have had to travel, no doubt at the time of the incident they reasonably figured, as the parents of JonBenet had done before them, that the storm would blow over fairly quickly, eventually leaving them alone to deal with the aftermath, & allowing them to consign the entire matter of their daughter's existence to a dusty photo album left on a shelf, pulled out at most once a year, for decorum's sake. Instead, the story caught fire around the world and they've been forced to tell a thousand lies, on TV, in books, and in person. I'm sure that by now, even once they reach their deathbed and the need to dissemble is past, they won't change a single note of their tune. It's a song of how bad luck came to them, how the system let them down, and how they've bravely carried on, in spite of being unjustly accused and suffering a tragic loss.

How many alarm bells need to go off before you twig they are guilty. But the final kicker for me was the mother writing in her book and stating in interview about maddies beautiful private parts, what the hell ?

I think the idea is that, after she died, she was taken not far away and hidden. This spot was considered good, but not perfect -- especially since the incident had blown up into an international story. So later on, with the help of the car and some more creative thinking, it was moved to a better spot or destroyed.

There is a theory that her body was eventually hidden in a fridge in a villa the McCanns moved into. It was at that villa that they had to leave the car boot open to clear the smell. One of the reasons fir the fridge theory, is that the McCanns replaced the fridge themselves at some point, (saying it was faulty), instead of asking the landlord to replace it. I don't think anyone knows where the body was kept prior to moving into the villa. It was said that a Catholic priest the couple went to see had some sort of breakdown due to being traumatised by what he learnt. Some people think he may have helped hide the body for a while because he took pity on their situation...but that story seemed to disappear.

I think the reason why the detective is saying he believes it was an accident is or was in hope that people in general would more likely feel easier about talking or interacting if they are not being suspected of anything deliberate or darker in nature I think that if it was simply an extremely unfortunate tragedy with good people with normal healthy lifestyles considering their occupations and occupations of their friends that just calling emergency services and telling them what happened would have been done they are healers doctor's life savers who would surely have character witnesses that would be able to put them beyond reproach and post mortem would collaborate this
That's what makes an accident most unlikely to me
If they and their friends were allowed to be looked into and cleared and their accounts of the 2 hours prior to the alarm being raised constantly changing makes it impossible to just accept an abduction or accident as answer
If the road of enquiry that is always gone down as a matter of course is blocked off and deliberately entirely secured protected from investigation then WHY until that road is opened that road will always have people wanting to get access
We don't have access all areas that is the problem

I was in Portugal at this time, or should I say we moved there a few weeks after the event…. What I’ve always found strange so the children disappear, but the McCann made a business out of their tragedy…. I think it’s important that all avenues in the investigation I looked at…. But there is a possibility that the child was dead, not murdered but overmedicated…. If this happened, the McCann would be in trouble, so you can see why the story has possibly developed. We know the possible time that the body could’ve been removed, and we have evidence that there was a dead body in the car and next to the child’s favourite toy.. both of these items were detected via cadaver dog… if we know the time and the mileage on the car. what is this not been calculated and the cadaver dog deployed in these areas to look for human remains…. did their upmost to the evidence of the cadaver dog and use public sympathy to organise this…. The police in question has a 100% positive identification on the bacterial smells that occur after death….

They would be out of prison by now for manslaughter, child neglect, endangeriment. Just the fact the kids left alone and child taken. They are pretty much responsible. I don’t feel sorry for them. They got off scotfree for being irresponsible. No excuses, well child gone punishment enough. No it isn’t if they even accidentally killed their child. They won’t say a thing. Just my opinion: I believe they must have had to put her somewhere they were familiar with as they hadn't been there long... On their jogging route, there were a few holiday homes set back from the beach.. A lot of foreign places have fridges outside... these homes where holiday homes most vacant that time of year... might explain why they still went jogging.. Sat on a hill while the search went on that week... wasn't it reported that Jayne Tanner viewed some holiday lets places via a letting agency Robert ... May be how they found out what holiday homes where empty...

      @hayleylongster4698 9 месяцев назад +1

That is a very good point. They must have moved her several times. At least twice imo.
      1) Gerry takes the body (and is seen by multiple people) to the initial hiding place almost immediately after Kate raises the alarm. Like you say, this was somewhere on or near the beach. Possibly an empty home with a fridge. Or even a cave with a dark interior, somewhere they jogged past every day.
      2) A fridge in the rented villa they occupied after leaving the apartment. The interim hiding place until they could hire a car etc.
      3) The final resting place (the ocean, a well) via the hire car. They were driving round in that car for miles every day looking for somewhere to dump her. Hence the huge mileage they did.

@hayleylongster4698 very good insights... so many things that point towards her dying in the apartment... wel leave no stone unturned.. yet totally dismissed the Dogs evidence the only possible physical evidence which may of lead to their daughter was a big give away for me... your on holiday your child goes missing so many people had access to her if innocent and the dogs found evidence you would want that looked at would you it would be hard to think but one of your friends may of hurt her or anyone really who knew the door was being left open... KM called the dog handler a wanker in her book imagine that someone trying to locate yoir child and in your head your calling him a wanker... they left that stone totally unturned....so sad all the people who were suppose to protect her let her down..🙏

A bizarre contradiction in Jane Tanner's man with child statement. She says the man had lots of clothes on, heavy clothes and that she noticed that as odd because Brits abroad tend to dress lightly in shorts or cut offs (true). Next bit of statement - she describes seeing a child's unclad feet sticking out and thinking that's odd, that child will be cold, because actually it's quite a cold night, so cold that she herself is wearing a jumper. So which is it Jane, on this May night in Portugal ? Tropical or arctic?

However, while they were still in the apartment Maddie could have started jumping on the coach after being sedated, the sedation took an effect, she fell down behind the coach and hit her head; hence, the blood found under the tiles. The parents tried to revive her unsuccessful, and decided to hide her before the dinner. They would not have had time to coordinate this story if one of them found her death during the checks. How? How would that parent alert the other one without causing hysteria? It happened before the dinner IMO, and I believe they were both present.

Oh yes .. never a truer word... I agree with Nick, I think Maddie fell off the balcony area when perhaps wanting her mother and climbing in that pursuit. As a way of avoiding the neglect by Gerry and Kate they concocted the abductor story and tried to hard to get Amaral off the case because he sussed the truth in this case.
I so wish poor Maddie's remains could soon be found, she deserves a proper respectful burial and her parents brought to justice, for everything they've done, including wasting so much money from donations and the funding of the police case etc, on their behalf.
The jogging route by Kate, in particular since Maddie's "disappearance" I think, possibly due to her fears that Maddie's remains might be discovered ...or her desire to have her found so that they could say the abductor killed her and hid her...

My hunch is that the parents were medicating the children to keep them quiet while they were out. Madeline woke up crying and looked for her parents on a previous night so they raised the dose to the point of toxicity, accidentally both administered a dose, or she had a bad reaction. (Like aspirating vomit) If they reported the death, Madeline would have had an autopsy. That might have detected the chemical in her system. If that caused (or contributed to) her death, there would have been a trial. The parents likely would have had their other children taken away and been jailed. The surviving children/ keeping the family together is the motive.

Don't be silly. Law enforcement don't take any of that seriously, and neither has Amaral. Please stop spreading misinformation.

I am still not convinced they hurt their daughter. I think they made a tragic choice to leave their children in the room and go out to dinner.

Like Delphi currently, the official narrative is one big lie...I'm glad that one is imploding, after nearly 7yrs of placating the sheep...and some cannot handle it,their book deals are going up in smoke!

So ? you think she was taken ? It was what Kate said....."They have taken her"........Instead of saying ? I can't find her, where could she be ? running around in the street, calling her mom ? That would have been an expectation. To say " they have taken her" means that maybe, there was something going on, that perhaps, went wrong ? That is another possibility.
