    Skincare Ingredients to Avoid when Micro-needling Blog Post: www.pennsmithskincare.com/pos...
    Collagen induction therapy is all the rage now. We know that a microneedling treatment and using a dermaroller can help those of us over 40 with mature skin....over 50 with mature skin...look younger! These are my tips to getting the best results possible whether you dermaroll or microneedle. I demo the procedure for you as well. If you are interested in learning how to look younger and how to encourage your own collagen production then check out this video!
    OK I have had a lot of questions about what pen you can buy, and I found a pen that looks good. I wanted to find a pen with replacement cartridges. It is SO important that you are sanitary when you needle.

    I love your energy and with something like this I always research as if I am researching for a university paper and plus I have experience in nursing. As of now, I am a cosmetologist. I plan on beginning the regiments you provide. You have went above to create this product knowledge and the amazon links are so convenient. I love that I can click and go straight to the product you include. The thing about these products, as with hair products and supplies, it is so easy to buy from somewhere and the product not be official or certified product. I am about to go ahead and make the pen purchase. I agree with you , it is not what the pen is called ( official is still important ) , but the knowledge of the on perforning the service. I tell you, I went to a med spa and had this done with a skin pen. I paid 1000 dollars upfront for 3 treatments. The practitioner was fumbling and trying to use a tip that the thread broke, Needless to say I ended up not going back and was returned the money I left with them. I actually have botox and filler and was not satisfied. Although I have to go somewhere to get my botox and filler, I am very confident I can do this, When I need refills or replacements I am coming right back to your links,,I plan to join your fb group, with my same name here, and I m also very confident I can get all the informtion for different facials here, I do not wont to watch to many sources because I am wanting to get into a routine and I am sure if there is an level up in the routine you will make a video, Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and I am definitely going to be using your links. Sending love and light, Libra and Venus Rising

    I recently came upon your channel looking for info on microneedling and the latest anti-aging skincare ingredients. You are outstanding, Penny! The content and backup research you have on your channel-as well as your graphics and overall channel's design-are amazing. And you communicate so well, on screen and in blogs. You even offer downloadable .pdfs of protocols you've developed.
    Your passion shows and comes across as a nerdy scientist who loves her work, is a down-to-earth person who can be comfortable and helpful to young girls, 20- to 50-someone's and older, and whose mother raised her right-with a girl-next door beauty guaranteed to draw viewers. Well done, dear. Hope you get where you want to go. 👏
    I bought the BioGlo roller a couple of years ago. Your information made it easy for me decide to get the 7 pen and follow your protocol instead, so thanks, also. 👍

    Hi Penn. Great video! I have changed my opinions about dermarolling. To me, it seems like there is research that it does work to repair indented scars but I’m not really finding evidence that it works for fine lines and wrinkles. I also think that using a DR at home can be dangerous as, if the needles don’t go in perfectly, the needles can tear the skin and cause small scars. From now on, in terms of my face, I’m not going to use the DR at home. Thanks also for the tip on only using the .05 once a month though. I appreciated learning that. You are a great resource! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  6 лет назад +4

      FiftyPlusBeauty I agree....and the sad truth is that MANY rollers are shoddy and can do much more damage than good. We learned that “over” rolling (too often, too deep etc) actually can cause collagenase (not good). I’m a firm believer in collagen induction but feel it can be dangerous at home.
      I always want people to feel empowered.....so I try to share best practices but hope people are careful!
      Thank you for watching!!

    First off, great videos! I subscribed after watching 1 then started to binge! Second, I wanted to know if what depth would be appropriate for lower butt/thighs/legs and wrinkles right above knees? I have 36 needle cartridges which I think are appropriate for these areas and the tiny instruction booklet says 1.5-2.0 for stretch marks and 2-2.5 for surgical and burn scars (and up to 2 for facial scars). There really isn't anyting for larger (thicker skinned?) body parts, but I have seen before and afters on legs and want to give it a try! If you are familiar with it, how many treatments do you think I (my husband!) will have to do on my legs? Should I use a numbing cream? I assume the same 4-6 week wait period in between is appropriate. Thanks for your help!!!!

    I’m so glad you made another video for Beginners. I picked up more info as I missed some info last time. So you don’t use it on your nose ? And why can’t you clean the needle and use it on your own skin a face again?

    Great tutorial, thank you so much, I’m considering buying an A6 Dr.pen and I have few more questions- what about acne scars ? I’m 37 so I am losing tightness and elasticity of my skin but my cheeks are scarred ( medium deep I’d say)shall I use longer needles than 0.5 for cheeks arrea ? If yes , is 4 weeks treatment rhythm still ok? The other question is when would you use long needles -2.5 ?and finally what does the needle quantity mean ? It’s possible to buy 9/12/ 36/42 needles , which amount is best ? Thank you for your time

    I love your videos! I am a registered nurse who loves the science behind skincare products and treatments. Excellent explanation of the skin layers, and how micro-needling triggers collagen induction. I have a question: if 0.5 works for collagen stimulation why go up to 1.0 or higher? Will u have a stronger response with 1.0? Would love to hear your feedback!!!! ❤️

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  5 лет назад +20

      Theoretically, yes (stronger response).
      I usually am looking for a vascular response so I go only as deep as I need to (some believe the deeper the better, I am more inclined to do as little literal damage as possible). So once I get pin-point bleeding and a nice pink flush I go no deeper.
      Acne scarring and that kind of thing does require going deeper.
      I’m so glad you’re here! My best friend is a nurse (NICU) and I almost went that route myself (after my undergrad I did bridge classes to apply to nursing school, like A&P and Nutrition and ultimately ended up in cosmetology school, go figure lol!)
      I hope that helps :)
      I should do an updated microneedling video, this was an early video of mine and I feel like I could answer so many more questions now (bc people have asked).
      I hope you have a great week!
      💜

    Great video! I'm glad I found you. I am a medical esthetician and I just purchased my microneedling pen. I went through a 4 hour class of CIT training. My question is if it can be done over botox and /or fillers? And any specific filler like bellafill? Is there a waiting period? The training didn't touch on this and I didn't think about it at the time. I love anteage also! I have my clients on that also! I plan to use it for the microneedling.

      Good morning! So exciting to have another advanced Aesthetician here!
      Yes you can definitely needle over filler and Botox. If I have a client on a series of microneedling I will needle them just before their Botox or at least 2 weeks after. Same for filler. I am careful around the lips though when they have filler-I don’t go too deep (.25 to .5 Max). And AnteAge.....so so good!!!

    Hello Penn! I watched both of your videos and just wanted some clarification on the process. 1) clean & wash off makeup 2) use alcohol wipes 3) apply numbing cream 4) use HA 5) microneedle. 6) use more HA. Is this correct??? I am wanting to make the purchases today:-). I saw the links to all the products except for HA. Do you have a specific rec for the HA???

    Love your channel and really trust your opinion. I do have a serious health question, but I know that it won’t apply to most of your viewers. So I understand if you don’t answer. I’m about your age, 47, and have always been very careful and stayed out of the sun. But, unfortunately, I became very sick 19 years ago after the birth of my second child and was given only a 5% chance of survival. My condition was extremely rare and at the time (2000) I was only the 105th person in the world to receive the life saving transplant that I did. Over the past 19 years, I’ve had over twenty major surgeries, 4 total transplants and spent months in comas and years in the hospital and icu. If you don’t know, hospital air is horrific for your skin. I already have incredibly dry skin, meaning the driest of dry. Add hospital air and the fact that I lost my entire small intestine-all 25 feet, which is solely responsible for the absorption of nutrients and water, and my skin truly suffered. I heard what you said about your mom and how after getting two bags of iv fluid in the hospital she looked ten years younger. That is true for most people who become dehydrated. But because my now transplanted intestine doesn’t absorb food or liquid as it would if it was the one I was born with, and I also lost my kidney due to the immunosuppressant drugs I take in order not to reject the intestine, I deal with mal to non absorption. In order to survive, I get anywhere from one, up to four bags of iv fluid every day. Now that I’m using the urea moisture lotion you recommend, as well as hyalauronic acid, vit c, niacinimide, peptides, growth hormones, and retin a, I decided to begin microneedling. I got the Dr. Pen A6 and just did my first cosmetic needling. Love it, but now I’m rethinking and wondering if it’s safe. If I do CIT, or even just cosmetic, injuring the skin and causing my body to “heal”, will that increase my white blood cells? I’m concerned obviously about anything that could improve my immune system. I purposely take drugs to wipe out my immune system in order for my body not to perceive my transplanted intestine and kidney as foreign objects and reject them. In addition, because I do this, I’m at a much higher risk of infections of any sort. Is this a question you feel you can answer or that possibly the doctor you work with could answer? Thanks again for all your videos and advice. I truly have gotten so much from you. I only wish there was something even more that I could do about my dry skin. Urea and hyalauronic are wonderful, but I’m still incredibly dry. Blonde, blue eyed and fair skin-dry, dry. I live in hotlanta, on the river, so I’m in warm, very humid temperatures all the time. But it’s never enough. I could never survive in a dry climate. 😘 Thanks again for everything! You’re amazing!
