For those crying over theft, store staff aren't rocket scientists and often are too lazy to remove it and you don't notice till you're home. I had it happen to me today. I have to remove it or go all the way with the recipt
Thank you! I used your method and cut the top off a similar tab expecting a flood of ink. Nothing. Came apart easily. Then explored further and the devise was a dummy, no ink, no RFID, nothing inside!
I used a crafting saw blade to manually cut off the top without a power tool. Good tip, it worked for me. After spring was removed and the cylindrical metal below, the magnets inside came out easily. Much better than wasting gas and going back to the store for them to remove. Thanks. Better than setting the tag on fire!!!!
All I did was use a wrench after watching at least 20 videos of everyone focusing on the bigger side of the security tag....I got the wrench and popped off the smaller side in 5 seconds. Wow been watching vids and trying to figure it out for two days then finally a 5 second pop off with an old rusty wrench!
Alex Romo i had a time where i had to break off a tag because the cashier was to stupid to look for one but still wanted me to pay for it when if they don't look for a tag, they can't sell it, but then again it provides the HQ evidence of poor service, that's why there's never ink, your probably gonna get charged if they are as proved by the error in the first place, bad customer service provider company, as they won't check the CCTV or previously purchased items receipts they have to keep for a minimum of 28 days, customers need the ability to break it off for realistic reasons being, who keeps the receipts these days... or wastes paper with it

Your video is what finally got mine off, but mine had a flat metal piece that held the pin into place instead. I had to dremel through all the layers of plastic just to pry the metal plate off, but it worked!

I used an exacto knife and cut around the top. It came right off once I pop out the cup, balls and spring. I used no heat.
I didn’t even remove anything but the spring. After that I just hit it on the ground really hard and it popped right off
