Simple method to remove a store security tag

- This tutorial of a simple method to remove a store security tag, that was erroneously left on the article by the cashier was created out of necessity. The store is 80 kilometres away. Obviously the best solution is to take the article with your till slip back to the store and have them remove it. oh so funny. got home to find security tags hiding inside my sons underwear. my son said I'll have to take them back. Thank you so much. Your tutorial saved me time, money and most importantly it saved my sanity. I was so upset at the thought of having to drive back to the store to have this security tag removed. There should be a store policy stating that if a security tag is inadvertently not removed from the customers purchase, the store will refund the cost of the merchandise and have someone come out to the customers home to remove the security tag.

Yes--I bought a coat for a child in need, and it is snowing (and forecasted to snow more) and they shipped the coat with this tag on! (I'm not sure why they had the tag on for a shipped item when it was not available in the store, but that is how it arrived.) I'm still a little nervous to try, but maybe I'll build my nerve up. The customer service only gave me the option of bringing the item to a store.
@@AnnErasmus I’m going to rewatch this when I get home. I have a heavy duty security tag on there as we speak and it has an ink sprayer if you try to remove it. I kind of am afraid to remove it, but the store is 28 miles from home.
We need a petition for this

I legit set of the alarm on my way out the door, was told I was good to go, and didn't even think that I may have a massive security tag on my new hoodie. Thank god it's simple to remove with wire cutters!

To anyone who suffered the frustration of paying for what you needed, and then having to deal with absent-mindedness of the shop assistant: follow this nice video, and after inserting the forks put a strong neo-magnet on the fork on the tag side, closest to tag and pry them. This will put a big smile on your face !!!
The shop assistant could’ve been new, you cant be mad at them it happens everybody forgets.

We live in London and just realised that the booties we bought for my mate's kid had a tag. We bought them from Totnes over 100 miles away so taking back is not an option. This trick worked a treat. Thanks

I didn't have any wire cutters available, but I was able to use a small hacksaw as a replacement. The two forks method worked well to expose the pin. Thanks again!

This is very helpful! I had bought the last of the style coat I wanted, online and have the e-receipt and the bag it arrived in too, so could prove I purchased it, but still felt very embarrassed only finding the tag wedged in to the seam as I was about to walk my dog this morning. I’ve worn it for the past week and not noticed it until this morning for some reason! Saved me the hassle of sending it back for a refund to try re ordering again before someone else did. That’s annoying!!! Great tips! I cut through the top of the tag, after looking on RUclips and pulled out the ball screw mechanisms inside the tip holding the pin in, but your video is even less time consuming and easier. Thank you very much!

Purchased some workout gear in December, or January while I was doing Christmas and boxing day shopping. I have no idea when I bought these items. I certainly don’t have the receipts. I’ve since washed the items. Now that I go to wear them, I discover that there are security tags on them. (Yes, I realize it’s March. Don’t judge me!) thank you very much for these tips. Now I don’t have an excuse to start going to the gym.

No idea if there was ink in it or just a security pin thing, but the thing smal fork lever trick popped it off where I did not even have to cut the pin or get any damage to the fabric. Bought this bra that had this attachment on it, moved to a different state almost a week or two before after the purchase and about 7 months later finally found something useful to test out…. Get the tools sit down try and get the fork in and it just fell off😂 I cannot believe I wasn’t able to test this and also that it took months for me to even try to touch it lmao! Bought an expensive vest and tie and the store is a good 30 minutes away. I did just about the same thing and it turned out well. The item did have a bit of green dye in it but I was not going back to the store for a hour trip. I do have my receipt. My bro just came back from Macy's & was about to try on his white jeans only to find that type of sensor on his pants. He didn't feel like going back because he didn't even want to go in the 1st place. So he said he was just going to wear them like that tonight. February 2021.....Less than one minute and worked like a charm. Be sure to use the serrated knife. Thank you. It would have taken $4.00 in bus and tram fare taking one hour of my time to get the store to remove it. The funny thing was that I set off the alarm three times and they still let me out the door and without even looking in my bag. They just waved me out.....three times.

OMG, thank you so much, this works very well and it works with the longer US tags too!! It took just a couple minutes and I used some jewelry clippers. I got some shoes as a gift for my little girl and it had a tag on there.

Thank you. Figured it would be that easy. My story real quick. Bought my son these fleece PJ pants and figured I'd do the right thing and pop into the store I bought them from the next time I was local. Mind you these were just one of a bunch of things for Christmas so I have no idea when I bought them but atleast 4-5 weeks prior. This is the first time I've experienced this. Bought a knapsack which inckuded two smaller pouches. I also bought socks and each of these items still had the tag on. This is what happens with cheap labour. Now, here I am watching this video.

Thank you sir, just got a new pair of pants and at the shop we couldn't find why it was beeping. The shop is pretty far so I had to use this method. The only problem, some security tags have paint vials that if you break will stain the clothing (yellow and red in my case) luckily only had 3 drops and trying to wash them now.

Next time freeze the clothing overnight before attempting to remove the security tag. Dye can't be released if it's frozen.
