I absolutely love this Mark! It's amazing how often a simple set of colors and techniques can yield such a wonderful look when you just take into account shadows and highlights. I always learn something from every video - as always, thank you!
You've done it! This video has nudged me just now, today, to prime my first bunch of minis and finally break out those speed paints I bought forever ago! Excellent inspiration 👍😎
Hi Sorastro, thank you for the great video. Actually it would be awesome to see you using speedpaints more often (especially army painter 2.0) as i plan to paint all journeys to middle earth with that + classic methos for details and highlights. I've restarted painting after 20 years thanks to your videos, as i've bought Imperial Assault 6 months ago, and now i've just finished the core set. Thank you so much for your hard work, it is inspiring! cheers from Italy
Hi, you can get some amazing effects by mixing acrylic paints directly with contrast paints. They're not two mutually exclusive approaches. You can layer up from contrast paints.
Hey, awesome to see that you keep on going with this series after a long time. Hoped for blood rage completion aswell to have your videos as a help with color choices. Did Blood Rage on my own then. Turned out ok as well 😊 But anyways. Nice to see you going back to Lord of the Rings ❤
Love it Mark. I always laugh when you mix colors. I think a paint line could have 1000 shades and you would have them all but still be mixing them to make new shades.
@@Sorastro honestly most time I am at the game store I pick up a pot or three (hmm I don’t have that one) and then when I’m painting I inevitably mix things on a wet palette, and then look up at my paints and see that exact gradient in four consecutive probably unopened paints on the rack. Goes to show it’s as good or better to have fewer and mix.
Thank you SO MUCH for these videos! It has introduced me to the hobby and enabled me to have a beautiful game to play! I am planning to support you on Patreon as a thank-you. Are you planning to eventually cover the Scourges of the Wastes figures after you finish the Spreading War figures? There are hardly any videos on RUclips of those figures being painted, and I'd love to see your ideas in how you'd approach them!
Thank you kindly! Yes, I will be covering the Scourges of the Wastes - just as soon as I've finished the last two Spreading War minis (watch the the Boromir episode dropping soon..) 😀
I have been hoping you would finish LOTR series. I just stared painting the main game and your Guides have been great. I can't wait to finish all expansion for LOTR.
Hi ! Are thèse speed painted orcs looks great next to the fellowship membres that you have painted even if the fellowship membres do not use speedpaints? Thanks :)
Hey Sorastro. I've been following this and wanted to use my citadel contrasts. So I did a zenithal spray of Citadel White Scar. I only needed armour so tried using the Gryph-Charger Grey over white... however mine came out looking really pale blue which is weird. On yours it looks exactly like the nice grey is for armour. So I wonder if I've missed a step or something different as I can't get it to look like your grey. Very strange.
Hi Edward! Hmm that is strange. I don't know if GW have changed the tones/formula at all over the years.. Not to worry though, you could just go over it with something a bit more greyish. Maybe Basilicanum Grey or something.. 🙂
@ Yeah I’m going to have a look at some other colours as these are for the SHIELD guards in Marvel Zombies. I wanted a robocop style armour that’s not too shiny. 4th time lucky.
I'm on the fence liking or disliking speed painting. Big benefit is speed but it gives model look of old black and white movie which was recoloured. Finishing touches are helping with that but still prefer layering option.
Yep! It's all a question of what standard you're after, and how much time you wish to invest in any particular paint job. I didn't want to spend long here as you can tell 😁
You're the reason I got into miniature painting! So thank you for that. Get ridiculously excited to see the notification for a new video pop up!!
Thanks so much Matt! I really appreciate that 😀

Thanks Elendil! Yeh, I don't think I'll be returning to Blood Rage, but I will certainly be finishing off the LOTR JIME stuff.. 😁
@@Sorastro very nice looking forward to it since I haven't started with LOTR yet 😊
Thank you very much for this great content!
You are very welcome my friend! 😀
Love it Mark.

I love how you use contrast paint and still refine it with normal acrylic paints
Thank you Dustin! 😁
Excellent and practical video, however, as always 👍👍👍
I'm really looking forward to a video or pdf guide to the elephant and Boromir ☺️☺️☺️
Thank you! 😁
Is it just me or is anyone else hoping for "Sorastro reads you audiobooks channel?"
Ha ha, thanks Kevin 😁

Hi! I think they look fine on the board when mixed with the heroes, but you can judge for yourself by looking at the opening shots in the video.. 😁
Cool video.
Thanks buddy! 😀
yes, new stuff from lotr. Like!
Yeh! Sorry it's been so long.. 😁
What brushes do you use?
Hi! They're by Rosemary and Co (there should be some affiliate links in the video description) 😀
@@Sorastro Thanks
Noice. I actually got a notification for a change. Happy days 👍🏻

@@Sorastro Yeah. Guess it is better to be speed painted than waiting on the shelf for proper paint job for years ;)
Ha ha, yeh - I just like to choose my battles carefully.. 😁
