    Hi! It's come to my attention that there is actually distributor for the Rosemary and Co brushes in the US (and they're super friendly!): www.windriverarts.com/ :)

    • @QQasaurus
      @QQasaurus Год назад +3

      Yep! This is who I buy my brushes from. They're a bit old school as you can't order online and you have to order the phone (including payment). But I've bought multiple R&C brushes from them and its always been great.

      @@QQasaurus Just pulled the trigger on these myself, this morning! I've had the tab open for a while now. I've been using W&N Series 7 since I started painting but I love the longer tips on these when I watch Sorastro paint so I'm really looking forward to trying them out. I got a size 1 and 2.

      I began my miniature painting journey in 2020 (Jan), Sorastaro's painting was my first source of anyone painting. I have taken the lessons described, put them to use and now do commission work for some people. I paint purely for pleasure even if I'm making money for doing it. Thanks Sorastaro, you have been a wonderful teacher for this hobby. One day we will meet at AdeptIcon or at a Golden Demon event.

    This channel is a huge inspiration for many, but in any case for me. Thank you very much so far for sharing your work. Even if you look at the older videos and realize that Sorastro's has also made qualitative developments (I shy away from writing "improvements", because even the works of the first hour are simply awesome), this is incredibly motivating when you realize that you yourself might paint in a similar quality range as the artist here a few years ago. Because it gives you perspective that it's worth looking further. Thank you for an incredible amount of tips, of entertainment, and of motivation. I look forward to each new video that comes out here and always enjoy looking back at the older works as well. And I also want to mention that I really appreciate the background music.

      One thing you can do to deal with that is identify the most important part/area of a mini (usually the skin or armour, and the bare face, and sometimes a signature weapon). Paint these to your desired high standard. Use a more basic approach for everything else (i.e. Contrast/Speedpaint + Highlights), like straps, boots, etc. That way, you focus your time and effort on those parts that gave the most impact on the viewer and less on parts people know are there, but don't focus on. I highly recommend Ninjon's most recent video on the topic.

I too, suffer from putting myself down in almost everything, and being relatively new to this, my first project was Cthulhu Death May Die, and I thought I did barely okay, but when people saw my work they were not only ecstatic but praised it. Now when I look at the unpainted figures on the back of the box(component list) I'm happy that I took the plunge.

    As far as the ending bit about taking pictures of your minis goes, I've learned that flash photography (using my phone) is great for telling you your mini doesn't look as good as you initially thought.
    Though while it can be a bit disappointing, I've learned to use the imperfections I get to see with flash to go back and clean up the model.

    What amazes me is how far your face is away from the model. I wear glasses to see fat but take them off and bring the model close to my face to paint. Love your stuff. Keep it up!

    FYI, Rosemary & Co series 323 is the same brush as Artis Opus series "M"(with slightly different handles as pointed out), and their dry bushes are found by just searching "dry brush". Also, R&Co do ship to Canada.

      @Sorastro's Painting philosophy of "take it to a certain level". We all beat ourselves up. But it doesn't matter. Really, it's what you like yourself that matters. Your "recipe " for star wars armour is great. You've really inspired me not to be frightened of mixing colour. But also, it really helps to be able to go back and check. Sometimes I have to pause. These videos are a security blanket so i can revert to a standard paintjob. I hope others feel the same. And you do the music! Please don't burn out. You're appreciated, but do it cos you like it rather than obligated.

      Thank you Leslie! Oh, I do it because I love it (and it happens to pay the bills!). I've become quite good at balancing my work/life too, and always put quality over quantity when it comes to whatever I'm creating.. 😁

      Thank you! I think it helps that I make no effort to pander to the YT algorithms (I'm in many ways quite a poor "RUclipsr"!). I produce exactly the kind of videos that I love to produce, and at a pace that is comfortable for me. (And I still make time for gaming, family, exercise etc!) 😁

    YOU. ARE. AMAZING!!! I too started watching around the time of the Imperial Assault era and it's really thanks to you that I've gotten a general feel for how to go about highlighting essentially any miniature. I now plan most of my own paint jobs without referencing a tutorial. Though, sometimes I'll look up what you've done if it's a character I feel strongly about. The only trouble is Vallejo Model Color seems to be pretty scant where I am, so I end up analyzing the closest Citadel/Scalecolor equivalent.
