Not me, but my dad, when he was younger. It was night, and a guy had pulled his horse out of the trailer because it was nervous. He didn't know what he was doing, and the horse ran into the road. Dad couldn't stop in time and hit the horse. He went through the windshield. He landed face first in a freezing cold puddle. It slowed the bleeding from his face. Another car stopped by and the driver was a nurse. While waiting for an ambulance, she would put his face back in the puddle when his face started bleeding badly again.

tldr: didn't die in a fire because I was too tired and stubborn to go to bible class.
    I broke my leg.
A couple of weeks later I was supposed to go to a Christian youth group held in the attic of a church hall but I was just too tired.
My parents and older sister tried to convince me to go but I was just done.
The attic can only be reached by an extremely narrow and steep staircase and was filled with old banners from previous events hanging from the rafters and posters all over the walls.
That night there was a fire. 200 teenagers had to get down that staircase In single file to escape while the entire roof went up like a tourch.
40 kids got treated for smoke inhalation but everyone made it.
When my sister got home she told me how the banners spread the fire across the entire roof in seconds and black smoke was pouring down the stairs.
I would not have made it out of there on a broken leg.

I had just parked my tractor in the garage and had started walking to the house when I wondered if I had remembered to shut the fuel valve off on the tractor- so I paused mid step in the 20' gap between the garage and the house to turn around and go back and check. As I'm poised in that momentary still position about to do an about-face, I feel wind rushing past me and feel something almost brushing the front of my body. I hear hooves hitting the ground, and look and see a HUGE deer buck running through the 20' gap at full spped! Had I not paused to do that turn around, he would have hit me and broken me up real good! I'm not one to be scared by animals. I've been surrounded by a pack of vicious junkyard dogs; have been close to coyotes and bobcats and even a panther..but that deer scared the crap out of me! I was a quarter of an inch away from death or permanent disfigurement...from something that ya normally consider harmless- a freaking DEER! (Oh..and went to check the tractor before going in the house- and it tuns out I had remembered to shut the fuel off..but thank goodness I thought I hadn't!)

The school i grew up in was 2 stories and every morning we would go upstairs to pray. After service is over we would walk down the stairs, or as we kids did, ran down them. One time ghe whole school kids decided to all run down at once, which resulted in me being knocked down the stairs. Luckily it was just 5 steps down and ended up landing on my arse. Didn't suffer any injuries other than embarresment. After that happened teachers enforced the rule of no running down the stairwells, and there hasn't been an incident like that since. Looking back now, i'm glad i actually fell that way, considering that have i not fell, the rule probably wouldn't had been enforced, and an even worse accident may had happened.

When I was real young, maybe 6-7, I got lost in a store because I couldn’t find my parents An older gentleman found me, probably crying, and started to help me look for them. We even went outside of the store into the parking lot to see if they had accidentally left me inside. Thankfully, we went back in when we didn’t see them and we ended up finding them.
Im extremely lucky that the guy who helped me was a genuinely good person just looking to help a crying child out. Its a little terrifying to think that there was not an insignificant chance that the wrong person found me first and wouldn’t take me back inside after getting me into the parking lot.

It was dumber and I was 15 decided to walk into my garden in a crop. Brother goes hey Nate what did you do.
Looked down and went, Oh yeah that.
Dad took me in and huddled around me he ran his hands down my ribs one side fine the other no. It looked like I’d dented my ribs.
Dad took me to the doctor and turned out I had scoliosis.
Three years of appointments and more than my fair share of tears run. Friday December 5th 2019 at 9:00 am went in for surgery.
If my brother didn’t point out the dent in my side I wouldn’t have been ok. Could’ve been paralysed eventually.
So thanks Ant you saved my life.

My story: driving down a rural two lane highway to a friends house years ago. I had to turn left, had a couple of cars behind me, and there was traffic coming in the other lane so i had to come to a full stop to be able to turn left, which meant everyone behind me had to as well (just the reality of rural highways).
The last car from oncoming traffic passed me and I made my turn. Someone decided they were going to pass me and the two cars behind me as I was turning and barely missed hitting me after speeding up to make the pass. I had to pull off to the shoulder on the gravel road I had turned on to and just look around and process what had happened. The two cars that had stopped behind my just started pulling forward and I continued to my friends place. The weird thing is is that in the moment it was like my brain refused to acknowledge the danger and only let me think about it when I was safe. Just part of me shut off as I focused on safely getting out of the way. The speed they passed at probably wouldn't have killed me, but it definitely would have hurt.
