When I was almost fired for being assaulted by a customer....yes. He knocked me down and they said "You're on probation for the next 6 months!"

This wasn't a job, but it happened when I was in like middle school. Every year the school would send us home with this catalog of random fancy snacks and told us that the best seller would get some random prize. Been long enough that I don't even remember what the prize was, but I remember wanted it enough that I put my all into it and raised over like a grand in sales, which was unheard of. But the day of the assembly where they announced the winners the father of the riches kids decided to personally buy 10$ than I was able to sell because, for some reason, he wanted his own kids to feel accomplished.

If it makes you feel any better that kid is probably well working for his dad.

@@detox_13 From what I remember the kids were kind of entitled jerks. But their father was also hyper focused on making sure they succeed no matter what. I moved schools not long after that, but I also remember as a teenager hearing that one of the sons of that father caught a vehicular manslaughter charge from a car crash while street racing. Think the father also burned his fortune trying to keep the kid out of jail, but ultimately failed in that.

When I asked for a raise, for the first time after being there 5 years. My boss’s reply, “This company doesn’t give raises.”

When I heard my consultant boss reassuring clients that sht will get done. The confidence, tone, calmness and knowledgeability in which he addressed the clients despite the fact that we were not exactly organized enough to carry out the deliverables. He used this calmness, tone and confidence when speaking to us the staff, so many promises and nothing came to fruition for the two years he's made those promises to us the staff, that's when I lost all passion. Especially when I realized that I don't exactly have enough knowledge from working here when I want to start my Master's. I'm applying for some other place now. I'm 24, I need to get a job that'll get me ahead professionally and academically and enable me to save.

We were folded into another company. At half their size we were producing 8x more than their beat area was to the point one of our customers, who is 77% of our revenue, wanted all product done througb our specific location because of how good our product was. This pissed off the owners so much we were berated for'lowering the companies reputation and image by creating unrealistic expectaions' and told to stop.
This was trip downhill that made me hate the company.

I am still impresses I did it at all. I am in charge now and if this comes up, they give up after 2 weeks

I had some minor things happen in the past with the gossip train, but what really got me so upset I decided to quit was when I made a joke about not getting paid enough to care about some dumb gift card sale(my numbers were always poor, but I did a lot of the stuff other coworkers didn't want to do) because we're all paid minimum wage. This apparently got back to the GM who then lambasted me for not being a "team member" and how other people in other states are paid less yet still performing on top. I was so pissed, and that was when I decided I'd quit as soon as I went back to school.
Half a year later, and my blood still boils that someone took my joke as a real statement and told the GM. I'm jobless right now and the spring semester just got out, but I really don't wanna go back.

I was on the phone with a friend just a few days ago and he was stopping to get some gas. He randomly made the comment, “oh man. I don’t envy those three. They work for a telemarketing company. “When I asked him how the hell he knew that his response was, “because they’ve all got the blank faces and the dead eyes. “ I couldn’t help but laugh and ended up replying with “well, that job will do it right there. “

Could be meat packers. I had to drop off my old neighbor a few times at Tyson. I thought I worked the most depressed job (high sewer slide rates.) Seeing them changed that.
The telemarketers I used to know were full of rainbows by comparison.

Used to work for a souvenir store at a mall. Got a final notice for headphone use from the new manager.
The new manager didn't like me ever since the owners of the store wanted to retrain her for having a lot of voided purchases on the register.
Her son was the drink stocker and didn't like that I didn't help him put up drinks due to me having customers and making room to accommodate the extra stock.
Found out recently that a lot of the employees there all quit or got fired after she became a manager.

I understood losing my raise for having 1 "needs improvement," even if it was BS, but losing it AND 2 consecutive Christmas bonuses? It took my months to even figure out the first Christmas bonus being missing, and when I finally did I was told that not only did I lose it, but also one nearly a full YEAR AND A HALF after the performance review, just because they wanted to.
To make it worse, not only had I fixed my work speed months before the before the bonus, and I only took that long to get fast because they were counting my cross training time on another machine towards what I actually use. They had me cross train before I ever even regular trained!
I was jacked for 2 years because I didn't get fast with 2 large dangerous machines in a short amount of time.

It amazes me the misconceptions that are presented. People lawyer up over wage theft and win. Also Federal trade commission takes a dim view of retaliation and wage theft. If you have no money we are not allowed to deny care.

I don't think I ever had any passion for any job. I worked for money some jobs were okay some were not. My last job before retirement was okay because it was in a business park by a creek, so before work and in my lunch break I took loads of photos.
