You can live in your RV and work on the house. We bought 5 acres in between 2 farms and some wetland. Run down house we tore down and replaced. We are moving out of the city. Also, I bought my place not knowing that those 2 farms Im in the middle of was my grandparents farms. Thats how my parents met. They were neighbors. I didn't even know it. Special suprise.

Congratulations! Can't wait to follow your adventure. We bought land 2 years ago - 9.3 acres - maybe 5 will be cleared for house and homestead - the rest will remain mostly wooded. We hope to break ground this fall. Fun to be watching what yu do and feel like we aren't the only ones! Chickens for sure, goats or sheep that don't need sheared, maybe a donkey - tbd.

Yes on the RX bars! I have several syrups and the pixie sticks (good, but need separate flavors and not just the variety pack), but love to hear about the bars.
I'm only 11 minutes into the video and when you talked about the property having natural springs right then and there that struck a cord with me. It's always important to have a natural source of water that is readily available to you and of course your future animals. I still got to watch the rest of the video but I just thought I would voice that.

I'm very happy that you chose the first property. Not only did I like the central siting of the house (away from the perimeter,) but all the bones felt in the right place, including the quality of the grass for grazing purposes. The other properties seemed much more dry & sparing of pasturage. A builder friend told us we always want to try to buy a property with the house infrastructure already in place as it will save both time & money & you can camp out comfortably while arranging the rest. I've also heard it said when buying real estate, to spend a little more than you want to, to be fully satisfied later.

Whoo Hoo, Congrats on your purchase of the land! Lots of changes coming, but you will get it done with a lot of planning and prayer. You are right, new manufactured homes are very expensive, though not as expensive as a new stick built house. So renovation will work for what you want to do. Looking forward to seeing your floor plan and Rachel shopping at all the thrift stores and Habitat for Humanity stores to look for parts you will need for your new home.
Oh, and I want to hear about the RX Products. I have used some of their stuff but not the bars and allulose packets.

So happy for you! 🥳I agree with you that renovating the current home is the best way to go. It is SO much more economical. Also, (something I've learned the hard way) make sure to avoid heavy equipment around your well, septic and leach field because it could cause damage or destroy the existing structures. ($$$ to replace) We had trees removed and the trucks drove over our leach field. We had to replace it. 😵💫
Cost of land is all relative! In uk £300,000 + an acre! I’m sure you’ll choose well. Definitely have a contingency fund… 10-15% of projected budget. Will pray.

Yes, please review the RxSugar products. I use their “syrups”- the plain, maple and chocolate. I use them 1-2x a week and have been using them for years and love them. I just started using the Pancake syrup flavor and I like it. Have not tried their dried products or bars. Looking forward to seeing what you think. I do add their chocolate syrup to my coffee sometimes and love it. Not overly sweet.

My husband wanted to share with you both, bringing in your RV on your new property. You may want to check to see if legally you are allowed. Some counties are very strict. You might want to check on Stanley steamer helping you to get rid of any mold or anything in that house.
I am living in a house almost 100 years old. It is on 3/4 acres here in the small town of Hagerman, New Mexico. I grew up in this town and always wanted to live in this house. The house needs work and I cannot do it myself. But, I own it. I have nice neighbors so far. I was raised in this town and have lived in this house for 35 years now.

Thank you. So far the only con is when taking longer trips you have to really plan out charging. Here in Florida, there are a lot of Tesla stations in heavily poplulated areas and along the Turnpike but in small towns, they aren't as prevalent. For a local car or trips that are less than about 280 miles round trip, its perfect

Yay Arcadia. Loved it there but after that last flood and the one in 2017, we would never go back. We’re currently in Lorida, and love it here. It’s definitely much like Arcadia and the people are SO NICE. And no floods

I worked for a new home builder in California and learned that the cost of building permits in the bottom of the San Joaquin Valley, we are talking more than my first house cost in total. And each county will be a different price. Research all the stuffs. Good luck on your adventure.

Hey, just had an idea…after you put up a large pole barn you could host a working retreat. The group helps with chores part of the day and attends speaking/couching sessions for part of each day. Lots of CHEAP labor!

Here's a big tip for you if you decide to purchase recreational land. I hope you heed this tip. The very first thing that you absolutely need to do is whatever township that you are leaning towards is to get a complete copy of the ordinances that govern thay district and read it from front to back. The biggest mistake people make is they get property and they assume they can do whatever they want and that's not the case. ( Through excitement, people usually do the process backwards ) prime example. I got a buddy who bought 50 acres in Michigan, didn't have a clue about the township ordinances which says that if there's no primary structure on the land then he's only allowed to set up a tent or a camper 14 days out of the year, and he can not even build a garage or have a shed without 1st having a primary structure and that's just an example. There's thousands of nightmare stories out there.
Yes, we are well aware of those situations. That's why we had narrowed it down to the few areas we looked at. As much as we loved Frostproof, the fact that many of the areas that had large plots were being put into HOA's raised a red flag. Arcadia is a farming area that was originally all cattle ranchers and orange groves. Another reason we picked that one is because it already has a house on it which means we can have our RV, add other structures and more.
