I used to walk 5 miles a day 6 days a week, lost a ton of weight, and had no special diet, but a natural effect was I lost my appetite and was just not as hungry. So I have to say... movement IS a way to bring down your weight, but now knowing that keto/low carb and OMAD with a short daily walk is more sustainable for me, I have no time to walk 5 miles a day. I've been at keto lifestyle for 5 years now, and it's not hard. I don't track macros now. Just eat until full, one meal, some days two meals, but no snacking, seasonally I garden and do short walks.

"Where the mind goes, the man follows." I went through a stage of making Keto / CV / KV life consume me. I watched videos, read books, followed Instagram etc. It made me even more food focused! Now I let most of that go and maybe watch one thing a week, if that. I don't want to trade one obsession (SAD / FOOD) for another. Jesus said, "Life is more than food." He has so much more for us to accomplish! I finally am feeling free just making LC foods what I eat and not a career choice! 😅

    1. I did not hear anything controversial in this video. At least to me. What I heard, is that U2 are doing what is sustainable for you. Anybody that gives you a hard time or disses you over it, should go pound sand.
    2. I appreciate your sharing that there is more than one way to do this. You encourage people to experiment and figure out what works for them. And you identify different aspects of it all as well as what else goes into becoming healthy beyond just diet.
    3. This is a saying I used to see a lot of in 2004 to 2007 when I first started very low carb. “Low carb makes you look good. Exercise makes you look good naked.“ nowadays I would substitute in physical movement for the word exercise. But, I think it is still true.
Love you two! Thank you for sharing, and keep up the excellent work!❤

I have ended up at the same place as both of you. I knew my joint and muscle pain increased with dairy. As of April 1, 23 I stopped raw cream, kefir, yougert and cheeses. I eat only when I'm hungry. Sometimes its one time a day , sometimes it's 2 times a day. Some days I am not hungry. I had been at the same weight for 8 months, after 3 weeks of stopping all dairy except butter I suddenly dropped 7 pounds. I do not have a weight goal, I will let my body decide where it wants to be. I learned I don't want to punish my body with dairy, even though I LOVE dairy. My body is happiest on beef, butter, pork belly, eggs, coffee, Keto Chow Daily Minerals and Redmonds salt. My " fast food" go to is Costco Teton Waters 100% grass fed hot dogs. My body is happiest eating when hungry, don't eat by the clock anymore. I have meat on hand at all times and an airfryer both at home and my office for when I get hungry. Life is very simple now. I spend far les money on food, multiple serious health issues are gone, Im 50 lbs lighter and I keep healing.

Getting consistent, intentional movement in everyday has done so much to help with my stress management and well being. Not even a lot, like 20-30 minutes a day helps. And having good sleep hygiene is so, so important. Even one night of poor sleep makes you markedly more insulin resistant the next day.

After wearing a CGM and seeing with my own eyes that when I was experiencing stress, my glucose spiked higher then any food I ate. So it’s motivated me to find a new job that I start next week. My sleep was awful and I decided to invest in helping in that area. Purchased a Bedjet and it’s been a game changer. From hot/cold covers on/covers off to solid sleep. I was already incorporating about an hour of movement every day. And the scale started consistently moving. So I agree with everything you said 100%. This is all thanks to you both. I started thinking about these areas of my life because of you two so I am extremely thankful for the impact that you have made in my life. I am the lowest weight of my adult life.

Side comment... I got a Brooklyn bed.. I love it. I live in Phoenix where the stores abound, so I went several times to test the beds.. then I have my hubby decision on medium or hard, he picked medium and we've both been very happy for 2 years. I don't watch news, or much tv at all.. it really helps, I chose craft activities. Reading Bible has become a lot of fun. I tried a float last week.. I liked it! But it's weird.

I really appreciate you sharing this topic today. I can't explain it but it's like I have gotten weary of thinking about food. In the beginning, Keto snacking was a wonderful standby to prevent binging on wrong foods and it took me awhile to be okay with eating the fats. For a long time my mentality was stuck on portion control. Then I was able to focus on eating plenty of Quality Meats and fats. Eventually I found myself really spacing out my meals. I didn't initially know it but I started doing intermittent fasting because I just wasn't hungry and I figured it wouldn't hurt me to skip the meal. All the different RUclipsrs that I was watching we're having various programs like monthly challenges you know BBBE there was so many different things to choose from but my main focus was just make sure I eat the right things. I was totally obsessed with staying away from processed foods, using my glucose meter to find out if what I ate spiked my blood sugars or not. I was so focused on cause and effect of anything at all that went into my mouth. For a long time my medicine ruled that I had to eat when I took those meds. Fortunately since a lot of my medications have been lowered, I just make adjustments to them when I decide to not eat. There is so much freedom in intermittent fasting turning into extended fasting without experiencing fear and anxiety. I have eliminated the arguments with my doctor whenever she sees my blood test results every 3 months. The results prove to her that I am doing the right thing and not harming myself.

Stalls are hard. Figuring out how to break free is darn near miraculous in my opinion. Joe and Rachel, as well as a few other keto couples I've watched for years, get the big picture. Don't give up on yourself when all seems lost. N=1, stay in your lane and be flexible enough to accept when things aren't working anymore and change is necessary. Thanks so much for this candid, timely message.
One more thing... extended fasts are powerful and not just for weight loss. Approach the process with respect and clarity. Insight gained will heal us on several levels.

After listening to this I'm hoping my first thought when I wake up won't be "what do I have to cook for dinner"!!! Grateful to you both for making the "lightbulb" go off!

Thank you for this video. You completely expressed my long-term goal! I have been on/off keto for the past several years. Of course, I always feel better during the “on keto” periods. I am currently tracking my food for feedback and accountability, but I REALLY want to get past this hyper-focus on what I am eating, and move on to just listening to my body’s signals and needs.

Hey guys. I met you at a meat up in Orlando a while back. Just wanted to say Thanks for this video. It was much needed. So many things I needed to hear. Especially the part about just thinking about myself and meals every day. I am a compulsive eater and also slowly gaining weight even though I’m Ketovore for years. So now after this video I can see and I figured out what I need to do to change a Vicious circle that I’ve been in for the last 2 1/2 years especially. Yes people like me also need to hear about the food angle from successful people like both of you. Also love the videos where you share what you eat in a day. So have fun at ketocon and I hope you have a meat up in Orlando when you get back.

This is awesome! I thought Rachel looked like she had been slimming down and wondered what had changed. You both looked good before, but you look even better. These are very good ideas.

thanks for this video! This is what works for me but all the other channels say I'm doing it wrong so I just go ahead and eat something also since I "broke my fast".

I LOVE THIS, thank you so so much for sharing. I’ve been wanting to eat just this way but always felt it was ‘wrong’ because I wasn’t tracking perfectly or fasting perfectly. You all look a amazing and well. Congratulations 🎉

Such a powerful video! Thanks for sharing your valuable insights. I believe we look to the doctors for information and, then we look to our fellow keto’ers for insight on how to make our keto OUR OWN! I’m now ready to take my journey to the next level. I truly desire food freedom. 🥰Love you two!

You 2 are looking great!!! And Thank You so much for doing this video. This is exactly what I needed to hear. Even though deep down I knew that I needed to listen to my body more I just was always "stressing" about what/when I was going to eat. Time to listen to ME 🥰Thank You Rachel & Joe ❤💪🏼❤💪🏼

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for sharing this information. I have been working on movement and sleep, but I tend to eat to my watch. I'm so worried about not under eating, getting enough protein, etc. I've been moving in this direction anyway, and now I'm going to get in touch with my natural hunger signals. BTW, I was drinking my coffee with egg yolk, butter and measured cream while watching this. Thanks Joe & Rachel!

Yes that’s basically how it’s done. Eat when your hungry not when others do or out of obligation to feed others…. And it’s fine not to have massive meals even at omad. Some days we will eat more some way less and so it evens out over the week and we’re fine. Yup. Sleep also is a big thing people do not get enough of. Quality sleep. I knw for the military and jobs that have rotating shifts etc it’s so hard !

This is one of the best videos in the keto community I have ever seen! Inspires me to change based on what works for me. Getting better sleep, better prayer and devotion time in am, walking daily with push-ups, and more.

This! This is what really sets you apart, in my humble opinion. Thank you for your honesty. Thank you for your transparency. Thank you for swimming against the current, so to speak. This is so motivating and liberating. And a valid reminder that every person is different and no two people are alike in their weight loss journey. I really just love your guys! ❤ Can’t say thank you enough!

Thanks for sharing your new adjustments - even if not actually planned. I wondered how you were eating to your hunger before - because I'm still not on top of that. Generally eating twice a day is still eating on a schedule and keeps me thinking about food more than I think is actual freedom from food focus.

Wow, this was great. There is something freeing about realizing not everyone needs a perfect water fast in order to progress. I definitely have felt happy with just my butter/HWC coffee on days but then think I better eat food now that I broke my fast… I am still learning so much about that “ data collection” for me.

Doing individual eating schedules is the only way to do it right because everybody is going to be hungry and full at different times.

WOW! What a wonderful video! I definitely need to try this as I eat to the clock way too much. I am not always hungry, but I'm afraid to get hungry at night, if it makes sense. Now I know why I lose weight when on vacation abroad: I don't think about the next meal until I am ready to eat. Congrats on the wonderful results and thanks so much for this eye-opening discussion.❤❤❤ You are the best!!! ❤❤❤

Great video! I was just listening to Dr. Cywes talk about figuring out how little food we actually need. Right on time for me as I've been having similar realizations lately and thinking focusing on not overeating even keto foods will take my journey to the next step. I too got away with not moving at first and still lost a bunch of weight, but have realized the importance and incorporated more movement as well.

My college biology teacher said something that stuck with me for many years. The humans of today could live on a handful of peanuts per day because of our low need for energy. Peanuts are not the point here it's just we overeat so much in this society. 😢...
