Great choices, one and all. I especially appreciate the inclusion of Cacophony (I'm a big fan of Jason and Marty). One of my favorite melodic guitar solos is the 6:00 to 7:00 minute stretch of Joe Stump's "The End Approaches". Heck, the whole song is melodic and includes some of the most technical solos you're likely to hear. In fact, the solos in the outro rival most anything out there.

You should definitely check out the Solo of the Demo Version of A Tout Le Monde - it's so much more emotional, much longer and incredibly underrated. The song quality is complete dog but I would pick it over the version that made it onto the final recording any day.

2 Marty Friedman’s. Can’t argue that! Love the Petrucci and Synyster Gates ones too. A7X doesn’t get enough love from the musician community. They are legit amazing. But I’m a drummer, so what do I know about music?🤷♂️
A mix can be good, sometimes shred can be good, sometimes melodic af playing can be good. The Flower Kings guitarist played some very melodic solos on The Whirlwind by Transatlantic and I think that musical guitar player is very underrated. Nick Johnston has a great mix of both melodic and shred stuff and same with Kiko Louriero I think. John Petrucci has some very good solos that have buildups. I like many genres and have realized I myself likenplaying melodic sometimes as well as sometimes more shreddy.

All Tommy Vetterli (coroner) solos are melodic and outstanding, but especially on the album Grin, on this one he is beyond magical. By far my favorite soloist in a metal band, shortly preceeding Marty Friedman.

The Ninja! \m/
It's been a while since last time I listened to cacophony. Nice selection right there.
Sidewinder outro is absolutely amazing
So happy to see Galneryus get recognition like this!
Didn't know most of these but just going off my ear I'd say it's a solid list. To me the most melodic metal solo is "The Best of Times" outro solo by Dream Theater. Perfect combo of melody and shred imo. Gives me chills everytime.
I'm a huge fan of galneryus, Syu is my legend, SO GLAD THAT I SEE THEM HERE :)
BTW YOU'RE AWESOME
This guy's included all kinds of metal. Even obscured European and American metal.
hiroshi 80 Same! Love them
Me too.. angel of salvation have really epic solo
@@hafizhfz3476 agree!
That majesty is beautiful and your technique is impeccable , you are getting a subscribe
You should definitely check out the Solo of the Demo Version of A Tout Le Monde - it's so much more emotional, much longer and incredibly underrated. The song quality is complete dog but I would pick it over the version that made it onto the final recording any day.
A lot of famous Japanese guitarist are great at writing melodic solos combined with crazy shredding parts. I mean Syu from galenryus is legit the reason why I want to play guitar at the first place. His solos are just too amazing
Great to see Galneryus getting some love!! Nice list🤘
Ritual solo was by far the best melodic solo
It has such a diferent and mastering structure, and it is too beautiful to be called a masterpiece
1st song ~ Galneruys ~ Aww a man of quality !!!!
And thats how i subbed
1. Dream Theater - The Ministry Of Lost Souls (outro)
2. Dream Theater - Another Day
3. Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country
4. Avenged Sevenfold - Danger Line
5. Dimmu Borgir - Kings of The Carnival Creation
6. Helloween - I Want Out
7. Pantera -Hollow (intro)

9. Pantera - Floods
10. Dissection - The Somberlain
Thunder March, Devil Take Tomorrow, and Be by MARTY FRIEDMAN
Another Day is literally my favorite Dream Theater song, incredible job playing that solo!
I like Hollow Years, Live at Budokan.
Death: Without Judgement
Ayreon: The Dream Dissolves
Nevermore: The Heart Collector
Dream Theater: A Change of Seasons (15:38 & 17:00) + Breaking All Illusions
Necrophagist: Advanced Corpse Tumor + Fermented Offal Discharge (that first half, man...)
Obscura: Convergence
Testament: The Legacy + Return to Serenity + Cold Embrace
I always really liked the solo in December Flower by In Flames.
1. Comfortably Numb
2. Jester Script Transcriped- In Flames
3. Thrown into the Fire-Trivium
4. Eyes of a Stranger-Queensryche
5. Descend The Shades of Night-Machine Head
6. 18 & Life-Skid Row
7. Mr. Crowley
8.Disposable Heroes-Metallica
9. Until the World Goes Cold-Trivium(2nd Solo)
10. Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks-Pantera
Not by any means comprehensive, but some of my favorites
Awesome seeing The Ninja on this list!
Bradley Hall agreed!
My top 5 Solo : 5:Bathory : a fine day to die
4:Dissection: Unhalowed ( TRVE CVLT SWEDISH MELODIC BLACK METAL)
3:Dissection : In the cold wind Of nowhere
2:Wispered : our voice shall be heard (FIRE Shredding)
1:Emperor :with strength I burn ( SO melodic and EPIC)
I like the solo to Testament The Legacy.
And Return to Serenity
I like every single Testament solo lol
Props for adding Ghost, the solo in Ritual is insane and I’d also say that a number of their solos are melodic and badass (some of my favourite solos are Cirice, Square Hammer, Year Zero, Dance Macabre and Rats)
Silent jealousy by X Japan has to be one of the most melodic solos of all time.
I might be very late to this but:
Suicidal Tendencies - Sorry
Suicidal Tendencies - What Else Could I Do
Silversun Pickups - Three Seed
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Easily
Pink Floyd - Comfortable Numb
Pink Floyd - Pigs
The Pineapple Thief - The Final Thing On My Mind
Parkway Drive - Anasasis (Xenophontis)
Metallica - To Live Is To Die
Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall
Iron Maiden - These Colours Don't Run
For Today - Benedictus (Song Of Zachariah)
Enough Has Been Said - Unity
Some of these aren't quite full on metal but the rock the hell out. Would love to see even just one of these done by you. Your channel is awesome, found so many new songs and bands from you. :)
New guitar! Noice!
One that always gets me is the lead break from Screaming Ghost by Hibria. Not sure if it qualifies as being melodic, but the phrasing is brilliant.
All Tommy Vetterli (coroner) solos are melodic and outstanding, but especially on the album Grin, on this one he is beyond magical. By far my favorite soloist in a metal band, shortly preceeding Marty Friedman.
How about half of Blind Guardian's discography? Melodic AND fast.
I was just coming down here to say it lol. Andre is who I consider to be the Guitarist most underappreciated by the metal community as a whole.
Alot of dream theater's stuffs are melodic, but my favorite is Wither and Hollow Years live version from budukan.
A7 - seize the day
malmsteen - forever one
Megadeth - trust
Sonata arctica - tallulah
Hammerfall - never ever
Helloween - a tale that wasn't right
