Dude! The first time I heard The Leper Affinity, when that riff kicks in, I was absolutely standing there with my mouth open (whilst headbanging of course). I'm so happy that I watched to the end of the video and discovered that your favorite riff is also one of my favorite riffs. Once that riff happens, you know Blackwater Park is going to be a wild and unforgettable ride!
A close second for me on that album is the riff in A Funeral Portrait that happens from 2:00-2:30 in the song... in an album full of amazing riffs, that one in particular always without fail makes me feel something powerful and visceral.

The Root Of All Evil was the first DT song I've ever heard and is still my favourite DT riff. You've also included some more of my favourite riffs: Bark At The Moon, Where Do I Hide, Heartwork, Antisocial,... 🤘🎹
Actually, now that I think about it... the title track also has one super-syncopated monster riff in 14/4 (not sure how a schooled musician would count that, I'm sure you can correct me) in its mid-section, right before Loomis starts sweeping that solo out of the galaxy... THAT is my nr.1 favourite Nevermore riff ever, and they only repeat it 4 times and that's it. Do you know what riff I'm talking about? Jeff and Steve play two different versions of it, one palm-muted and one with open strings.
Good selection. The best underrated gems for me are Fingerprint File by The Rolling Stones, The Vigil by Blue Öyster Cult and basically every riff in The Masque by Edge of Sanity,
Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Nuno, Syu, Shawn Lane, Petrucci, Bumblefoot, Friedman x2, I think you hit most of the players that make me go wtf voice leading is that? Well done, sir.
5:00 That riff man. I remember learning it by ear listening to the THPS3 soundtrack, at least I think it was that one. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane bud🤘❤
Very accurate and precise quick picking fair play to you, but I was admittedly very smug at the timing of 'Get you Back' and 'It's Showtime' reassured me I haven't wasted 15 years of playing lol

@@BradleyHallGuitar I am glad you liked it :D Also, if yo liked that you should definitely check out Vektor Tetrastructural Minds and Annihilator Perfect Virus, they are all kinda similar and kinda different to Xentrix, but they all rock. Also, unrelated to this particular video but related to your channel in general, man you ROCK! You show more skill, better teaching and MUCH more humour than popular yt guitarists, like Stevie T for example, and you deserve much more subs and views, just keep the great work!
I think the opening riff from A Fool's Paradise and Absence of Light should be in this list definetely! Also Foul Body Autopsy has one of the best riffs I've heard, maybe you could do another list and include those?
new born is a very underrated muse song, probably one of if not my all time favourite - the calm piano start into the sudden transition to the electric(i think) guitar solo is great! and the lyrics are well-written

"The Stuggle Within" - Metallica. Always thought the breakdown riff and just the song in general was underrated
Waaaay too short though.. if only they used it again as the outro for the song!

If anything that whole album was waaaayyy overrated
I think most underrated from that album are struggle, holier, wolf, never, tread and roam.

Michael Pate exactly! More Than Words is a good song, but there’s more to Extreme than that. they can fucking rock out.

It's cuz all the songs they're known for suck balls. Their album cuts are so much better.
Extremely underrated, you could say

Good selection. The best underrated gems for me are Fingerprint File by The Rolling Stones, The Vigil by Blue Öyster Cult and basically every riff in The Masque by Edge of Sanity,
Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Nuno, Syu, Shawn Lane, Petrucci, Bumblefoot, Friedman x2, I think you hit most of the players that make me go wtf voice leading is that?
Well done, sir.
You madlad, that's my favorite Opeth song ever, and you picked the best riff for the end.
4:59 intense Tony hawk flashbacks
The intro riff in Iron Maiden's Invaders is one that immediately comes to my mind. I love that riff so much!
Nevermore is just underrated period
seriouslyyyy
5:00
That riff man. I remember learning it by ear listening to the THPS3 soundtrack, at least I think it was that one. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane bud🤘❤
I was like, If there aren't any Dethklok songs, then this list is wrong.
Very accurate and precise quick picking fair play to you, but I was admittedly very smug at the timing of 'Get you Back' and 'It's Showtime' reassured me I haven't wasted 15 years of playing lol
Didn't expect to see CKY on here but I'm glad I did!
I so agree with Betrayed by Avenged. Great riff and very underrated. Also holy blast from the past with that CKY riff. I forgot how good that one is.
Honestly DevilDriver has a bunch of really damn good sounding riffs. Would’ve loved to see maybe The Appetite or Head on to Heartache on here by them.
man the whole song of leper affinitiy is riff perfection, in fact the whole album is ❤️
96 Quite Bitter Beings will always be the most perfect riff ever written
Nice to hear something from The Darkness. Permission to Land got me into rock and metal when I was a kid.
My wrist hurts just by looking at you, man.
P.S.: needs more Deftones.
I know i'm late to the party, but OMG i waited for any Opeth riff all the video and you delivered at the end with one of my all-time favorites and it was interesting to see we both play it completely different. I fell like Opeth need a whole 50 underrated riffs video of their own
I really thought the Nickelback one would be This Means War
Also, should definitely have had Falling In Between by Toto because 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Awesome to see your channel doing well 🤘Also agree with Leper Affinity been a fantastic riff. For the next one though, some John 5 and some Buckethead for good measure.
Awesome video Bradley! I also love Lil Jack Horny by Extreme, the bridge riff of A7X's Save Me and Down to Mexico by Paul Gilberto
Dude..
Your tone is friggin perfect! Great sound to compliment a great vid!
xentrix-questions all riffs from that song are insane
@@BradleyHallGuitar I am glad you liked it :D Also, if yo liked that you should definitely check out Vektor Tetrastructural Minds and Annihilator Perfect Virus, they are all kinda similar and kinda different to Xentrix, but they all rock.
Also, unrelated to this particular video but related to your channel in general, man you ROCK! Your videos are really just amazing, entertaining and educating, especially your tutorial videos (sweeping tutorial helped me a LOT). You show more skill, better teaching and MUCH more humour than popular yt guitarists, like Stevie T for example, and you deserve much more subs and views, just keep the great work!
@@xmm8299 Vektor is amazing, basically their whole discography is worth checking out if you're looking for insane riffs
Bro the whole for whose advantage album is a masterpiece
LOVE that you added Galneryus in here :) Great stuff!
King's X, Lost in Germany should be included. Almost their whole catalogue.
Most underrated band ever!
Man I’ve always loved “we will rise” one of the first heavy metal songs I ever heard. Blew me away!
Nevermore's and Opeth's entire catalogues are by themselves lists of underrated riffs
Also Testament
I think the opening riff from A Fool's Paradise and Absence of Light should be in this list definetely! Also Foul Body Autopsy has one of the best riffs I've heard, maybe you could do another list and include those?
Also The Faceless had some great riffs in their songs like Legion of the Serpent
Iced earth - Travel in Stygian a kickass riff
Dude the fact that you had a clutch song on there made my day 🤘
a couple I would suggest.
"The Essence of Silence" by Epica
"SP LIT" by Chimaira.
@HerricaneLily nothing remains is a better song but SP LIT is a cooler riff imo
The whole Resurrection album has dope riffs lol.
I'm so glad your channel is growing a lot. Been here since 3k
Loved this!! Amazing job 🤘🏻. Would love to hear Domination by Symphony X
new born is a very underrated muse song, probably one of if not my all time favourite - the calm piano start into the sudden transition to the electric(i think) guitar solo is great! and the lyrics are well-written
You should check out Rings of Saturn. I'm usually not a Death metal or deathcore fan, but they manage to meld technical metal with deathcore its perfect. They have a lot of great riffs
Edit: OMG I LOVE CLUTCH! THEY DO NOT GET ENOUGH LOVE!!!
Insomnium-Drawn to black has a great main riff
1:48 Antisocial is from Trust (French band). Anthrax did a cover. Cheers!
The opening riff to “cold” by psycroptic a sicc and one of my all time favourite electric guitar riffs, and it is definitely underrated.
“Rock Bottom” is my all-time favorite. UFO, especially with Michael Schenker, had a lot of awesome riffs.
Good stuff, thank you! Will definitely be giving these tracks a closer listen
Idk... He-Man Woman Hater by Extreme's riff S L A P S
That second one you played, from Nevermore is actually called Born. Godless Endeavor is the album name.
If you want some sick riffs just check out vektor they're a really underrated thrash metal band. And they have sick riffs and vocals
Zr00we Vektor is amazing, one of the few post-2000 bands that get me really excited! I love also Gorod and Obscura, but they are prog death, not thrash like Vektor.
I think I'll check them out. Thanks for the tip
@@megabadass30 hell yeah dude
@@Rextum I've heard of them but never listened to them, I might just check them out
You won a sub by including dream theater's most underrated riff. Spot on, as with many of the other riffs
I was expecting to be so disappointed by your favourite
I wasn't.
AWESOME to see some cloudkicker !
I suggest snowblind but the System of a Down version
Big love for the Opeth, amazing riff!
