  • Sometimes rest is not only necessary but is actually the best thing that you can do for your own productivity and success. How does ignoring your to-do list help you to get more done? It’s all about knowing your own cycles and how to implement harm reduction. In this week’s vlog, I talk about how to simply HOLD.

OMG this is so me! I get so upset and feel out of control if I can't complete my "list" and tend to destroy my BLE successes. This is a game changer for me. The world will not come to an end if I give myself a rest day.

This is a deceptively simple idea, but one that is so huge! The idea of destroying in the low moments resonated so strongly. That’s when the What the Hell effect comes into play for me. It’s so easy to fall into the pit of negative self talk and catastrophizing instead of recognizing that the wave will rise again. In fact, I think it takes much longer to bounce back when I start tearing myself down. Thank you so much for this video!

    I SO need THIS!!!
It's a hard thing to do, to rest and disconnect, but now and then my body and brain scream for it.

To allow ourselves to rest, hold, and NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT! It took me years not to feel guilty about having low energy and allow myself to rest.

So, this made me cry😂. I can completely identify with everything you have said in this video. Permission to HOLD much required in the world of Shari. Thank you Susan.

    Love 💕 your beautiful work!
I highly resonate with a lot you share (not only here) what you point out here is such an important key!
For myself I called it ‘hold my handl’, meaning I keep on holding gently to myself and just like you say do not act in destructive/beating myself up / even within talk ways !
    So yes !
It’s all about rythmes, like breathing in and out, life is mouvement ❤!
Warm greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

I needed this today. I started feeling unmotivated to work a few weeks ago, so I decided to reread a book series that I knew was addictive. I've barely done anything else for the past week. I almost jeopardized a work promotion (which gives me more interesting work I'll be more motivated to do). I need to figure out a way to rest that doesn't rely on addictive activities

Such a good insight . . . trading one addiction for another. Thanks for your comment.

AMAZING! Thank you. I able very good at building. But I am also very good at undermining what I've built. Thank you for teaching me not to "just not destroy".

It’s called workaholism. Many of us who tend to be addicted are addicted to work. And sometimes to exercise. I hear a lot of intellectualizing that is a kind of denial. Girl, you didn’t do anything to begin destroying yourself. There’s a good book about workaholism. There’s also a twelve step program for workaholism. The biggest problem with being a workaholic is that it’s highly approved by society and very lucrative. How do I know all this? I’m a recovered workaholic. PS: combined with perfectionism it’s all consuming. Good luck and God bless 😇💙

Oh. These days I caught COVID-19, just recovered from it and it's like the day 50 since the day 1 I was diagnosed with COVID-19 positive, and now I caught this medial ankle tendonitis, my feet are swelling and I don't feel wanna do anything but my physiotherapist asked me to do so many feet stretching exercise that soon after each of the session my tendonitis foot would swell horribly and I'm totally in pain and feel devastating in carrying out any daily home chores =(
And my brain keeps asking me 'go grab instant noodle, go grab instant noodle', awwww it feels so shitty >w
