@@maudline Hear me out...a flowy and drapey willow tree skirt, that swishes and moves like water when you walk! Or how about a birch tree bodice? Outer fabric made of soft cream colored velvet with little scraps of dark brown/black lace cut-outs sewn on to represent the "eyes".
My daughter had a suggestion, you could use the bodice for every time of year costumes, eg: Spring with Flowers buds and Green Leaves, Winter with Holly, Mistletoe and Snow. Also she suggested dainty fairy wings. I liked your creativity for this outfit and the bodice so great.
First of all, this was absolutely not hot garbage. This dress is beautiful and I would absolutely cry if I got to wear something that pretty to a renaissance faire, fall festival, or even the grocery store. I love it! I would have added a little bit of ruffled tulle under the leaves to make them fluff up a little more, and added some little fluffy leaves around the top of the bodice and sleeves. But for a one day build, wow! Just wow!

My daughter had a suggestion, you could use the bodice for every time of year costumes, eg: Spring with Flowers buds and Green Leaves, Winter with Holly, Mistletoe and Snow. Also she suggested dainty fairy wings. I liked your creativity for this outfit and the bodice so great.
First of all, this was absolutely not hot garbage. This dress is beautiful and I would absolutely cry if I got to wear something that pretty to a renaissance faire, fall festival, or even the grocery store. You should be proud of all the hard work you've put forth this season and please, please, please, take as much time as you want for a break. You deserve it!

A lot of those edges are cut on some degree of the bias. I suspect that's keeping it from fraying terribly.
I think it is a mix of cutting on the bias as well as the makeup of the material

I would wear that EVERYWHERE. I love it. You don't need the additional airbrushing, that is 100% "creator eyes". The people who make things are usually the harshest critics of it. 😍 It's beautiful! Enjoy your time off! We'll be here.
I love it! I would have added a little bit of ruffled tulle under the leaves to make them fluff up a little more, and added some little fluffy leaves around the top of the bodice and sleeves. But for a one day build, wow! Just wow!
