Now, a future video can be you making a real wood perch to place him onto when he's not in use. This stand & shelf combo should have a built in neck support so that he looks like he's at rest & not dead. 😂❤❤ Ohhhh, _maybe_ make some mice fairies marionettes, as his friends! You know, to keep him company with their oversized floppy wings? 😮❤❤❤
KIRA!!! I suggest if you want to avoid crinkly fur while painting with an airbrush, mix up some synthetic fabric dye with water and brush it on with a paint brush! You can do fades by gradually adding more water to the dye to thin out the colouring! It's much less crusty then airbrush paint and a lot more durable! I've done this with a fursuit I've made and I love how it came out :)
If your arms/shoulders need a break but you still want to work the puppet, you might try putting the fluffy boi on a table and sitting next to him. Sort of an "I'm a mercenary at a tavern looking for work and yes, he will bite you" vibe!
The size gives the impression that the creature started perching on your shoulder when it was small enough to fit and you just never stopped because it's cute and as a strong warrior/as a light-weight flying creature, it's still just about possible to carry the weight.
True life story from when I had a cat... fully encouraged the curling up in a ball in the crook of my neck, when a tiny palm sized furball... was less enthused with the cuteness when it was a year old and still tryina clamber about and balance, beside my head!
Foam project suggestion: Cricket inspired wandering bard in honor of the explorative little friend enraptured by your mighty beast? Wonderful craftsmanship, best wishes.
Please make sure you film it when you take this to a Renfaire. I think I say for a lot of people that we *really* want to see people's reaction to it. I think it's going to be wonderfully great.
Hey just a suggestion why don't you make a shattered glass gauntlet for your armor with those left over scraps and could give it the illusion of shards floating around your arm.
Instead of trying to hide the backpack-support-thingy you could integrate it into the custome. Like those cat backpacks you see, but instead, make it look like a cat basket where it sleeps in. You could decorate that basket with dangly bits and make it look all whimsical and cute.
For anyone curious, if you make a gauntlet across the back of your hands and rig the pulleys to rings on the fingers, you can simultaneously move the eyes, mouth and or ears.
besides that it looks amazing, I was reminded of those pets that people get as babies and when they end up growing way too large for their owner, them still wanting to be carried around/climb them as if they were still small, completely oblivious to the fact that they are, in fact, very big now XD
FLOCKING!!! I had an idea. To give the cat head a fur like texture without all that tedious faux fur, use flocking. Ali Spagnola (RUclips) uses it a lot and I think that it could work really well on the face. It gives a velvety texture. Whilst not exactly identical to a cat's facial hair, the velvet would read as fur-adjacent enough. Maybe something to consider for future projects? The result of this project was amazing. I think you outdid yourself. Well done!
Your craft goes _unbelievably_ hard, but instead of intensity your presentation is chaotic and goofy in a way that is perfectly encapsulated by the phrase "partake of the whimsy"! The build was truly impressive!
This gives me the vibes of those puppies that start sitting on their owners when they're tiny and still trying too when they become a full grown dog. It's so cute
I was going to watch you make cool cat puppet whilst I hit the weights casually... And I slowly start to realize how absolutely jacked you look and thinking that the lady knight stuff is coming full circle. You look magnificent. And cool in the chain mail either way ❤❤❤❤
I don’t know if you’ve already done it somewhere and I missed it but the thumbnail had me like ASTRID?!? Would so love to see what you’d do with some httyd pricklyalpaca style cosplay!
Awww, I liked your skrungly Momo, it made him look like he had zoomies in the bushes. So cute! This puppet is incredible too, I really like the blue jay/ hawk vibe
Box of scrap foam suggestions: How about a pair of gauntlets with scales like bird legs/feet. Or a whimsical fungi themed bookshelf could be big old foam bracket fungi that could be attached to the wall or an upcycled book shelf perhaps? It has probably been done before but I would love to see your take on it
All I can imagine is being a young nugget at a ren fair and seeing this thing while walking around and making eye contact with it; triggering a core memory to take place. 10/10 it came out great! For a wet look on things I've found UV resin does a great job too, so might be worth keeping in your back pocket
What a good surprise to come home to. I know I'm going to feel inspired to create and paint/draw/something when you upload a video~! I once made wire doll like this too for my class in Fine Arts and someone stole its head. I was just thinking of redoing her (years later) today..
everything you do is amazing but god, this has gotta be one of the most incredible awe-inspiring things you've ever created!! absolutely amazing, i want 14 of them for myself
So Miss Twisted *just* dealt with the ear issue you're facing! Only on her head. I think she went for fishing line and *also* probably let it go too. But this is so cool!
Two things 1 this is such a cool project, I agree with a backpack idea, it maybe would look more natural on your back peeking over your shoulder maybe?? 2 this felt so wholesome to me because my cat died 3 days ago and she used to sit on my shoulder just like the puppet
If you were an isekai character, you would be so OP ! Imagine working in your high fantasy corn fiels, and you see a cute elven knight in shiy armor WITH A FREACKING TIGER ON HER SHOULDERS. the thing can walk, run AND FLY, but no, mama's back is more comfy
Oh my gosh, I’ve been wanting to do some thing on a smaller level as a little companion that sits on my shoulder for Renfaire. And you’re just feeding my addiction. Honestly, amazing work. I love watching your videos and you creating stuff that you’ve drawn.
I've fallen asleep to this video twice (that's a compliment, I find your vibe, music choices, and voice very soothing), and am finally getting to watch it all and it's SO GOOD!
And, ...now you know what happened to "Luna Lovegood", after the Harry Potter movies!!! 😂😅😊😜 For making a puppet/dragon for the first time, you did a really great job. Also, your fur-baby still loves and adores you. So, extra bonus points to you! Great job!!!❤
Puppet Nerd and Keep Drawing Charlie are two RUclips channels who feature Puppet makers who have made Eye Blink mechanism! I absolutely love your cat creature Puppet.
honestly, to me it looks like a fantasy creature wanted to see the real world, so it hired you as it's guide and body guard so it could experience reality. IT LOOKS SO REAL! oh my gosh!!!!
God this is beautiful. Here’s a suggestion on the neck fur/feathers; the back part of it isnt fluffy like the front, maybe add a layer of fur to the back! ^^ Looks absolutely stunning and realistic though
HEYYYY some of those reference pics are kavats from Warframe!! One of my favorite channels using my favorite game as a reference?! Hell yeah! This looks REALLY cool. The glowing eyes were a stunning detail! If you do rig a backpack, I wonder if you might basically change the pose? I think because it's rather large, you could try moving it from draping across your shoulders to maybe kinda riding piggyback. Dunno if that might help redistribute the weight!
This cat is so huge! Chonky boy! Big blob! 😍😍 Also I love the music you use in your final touches segment, it is now the official ✨Kira makes things Theme✨!
I've genuinely wanted to make a falcor, not even to bring him anywhere special but just for my own pleasure and childhood dreams, so both you and rachel's videos may have pushed me to start on him sometime soon 🖤
The baby is so beautiful idk im just having a lot of thoughts, all of them overflowing with love 💗💗💗 Also i will fight anyone who says anything even remotely not nice about your momo, your momo is absolutely adorable 💗💗💗
Me: *was already interested because these puppets are amazing and I'll watch them all day long" Kira: *Puts a Kavat on the screen* Me: *Sits up a little straighter as my Warfare brain engages* You have even more of my attention now!
I am now inspired to make anything like my own pet, my chihuahua Mulaney. The ideas flooding my mind rn are both hilarious and terrifying and I’m so glad you have been my inspiration, Kira. I have wanted to make or just paint something based on my beloved little companion, but now its gonna be even weirder- which is exactly up my alley. I’m not being sarcastic. I really mean it. 🧡
Kira, you basically made a Kirin/Qilin! I do think the brown-black really tied it all together. Ideas for foam stash: Make a leaf armor set?? Or try for a set of articulating bird wings?
I just happened to have this video recommended to me when I've been looking for arm puppet vids and tutorials for blinking eyes / painting eyes / jaw cheats etc. Love your energy. Thanks for sharing this! :)
I’ve always wanted to make one of these and this just makes me want it more! PS my bearded dragons was really into this vid you are his fave RUclipsr to headbop at :)
I don’t know if I’m correct, but I think you can get the movement you want in the ears by inserting rods in the inside edge of each ear. If my brain is functioning (which it probably isn’t) I think you can get a rotating motion and a folding motion.
I'm so excited to see my dragon puppets inspired you! You did amazing with only a week to build it, mine regularly take 2+ months! HMU if you ever wanna talk upgrades, or you wanna make another one 👀
Thank you so much! 💕 I would definitely love to pick your brain about a couple of things 👀 I've been wanting to do a version of this with one of the dragons from house of the dragon, so I'd love to streamline the process a bit ✨
This may come across as weird, but man, if I ever saw you at a ren-faire with this absolute guy on your shoulder I would want to sit there and study it for HOURS. Just look at all the little details and how it all moves together... gods I need to make one!!!
next time, even for a smaller one, I would maybe have the arm supporting the creature so it looks more realistic that it's on a resting place. its AMAZING. but just some tips for "Realism"? or have it gripping you, or both. :D
Terrific! For the ears in the future, I'd string behind the ears like you did, then have those strings meet together at the base of the skull, and then glue a channel (you could use a sturdy straw or foam tube) along the top of the skull (underneath) to where your eyelid mechanism works. Put enough tension on that and add a ring (like you'd use for a doll that has a voice box, one that's snug enough to fit around your finger without being too cumbersome, because grabbing for it would be too fiddly with all the mechanisms in the same area, so keep it on the whole time). That way, you use some fingers to blink the eyes, and one index finger to move the ears, and those are all on the same hand, like a marionette.
For the little foam pieces in your box, would a table top setting work? Like making a little spooky Halloween town for miniature characters to be in? Lopsided houses with run down shops, complete with a crumbling clock tower. That way you don't have to have every piece perfect and it can give some big Nightmare Before Christmas energy.
This turned out so epic!! I love the design and the addition of the LED lights it really adds to the whimsy ! Also I love the size! Of course the housecat would become the size of you in a fantasy realm!
Just want to say, I was drawn to this video because you're making a cool puppet thingy! What I was NOT expecting was the surprise Kavat concept art from Warframe to appear at 2:02 because I'm the self-dubbed Critter Lady of Warframe and one of the Warframe Creators (Partner program) and I've been wanting to make a puppet for one of the companions in game for a while now. WOWWWW incredible!!! re: the shoulder workout - have you thought about some sort of brace to hold up yr arm? like a right-angled aluminum tube strapped to yr upper arm and to the side of yr chest so you can rest yr upper arm on it
Have found using a dye brush and wire pet brush is great for blending, and sewing strands of brushed alpaca lace yarn (or similar texture) dyed in the colors you want as low/high lights also looks cool. I knit feathers and use these techniques lol don’t know if it’d help for creature creation but just giving fyi to help a fellow fiber artist. 😸

I love this sentence, and the idea that we're all cave dwelling gremlinns

Is this like a Rit Dyemore type thing or something else? Intrigued!
@@coyoteclockworkstudios3140 I use Rit Dyemore since thats the only dye my craft store has, but it should work with others!
You can also use a little bit of isopropyl alcohol (I think that’s what type it is) to get it in all the fur fibers. Saw that on Kaypea Creations.
@@EmeraldCrafts130 i was thinking the same!
If your arms/shoulders need a break but you still want to work the puppet, you might try putting the fluffy boi on a table and sitting next to him. Sort of an "I'm a mercenary at a tavern looking for work and yes, he will bite you" vibe!
“He don’t bite.”
“Yes he do!!!”
It’s kinda scary how good you are at every single art medium.
Agreed
Yay 😍😍😍😁😍😁😁😁😁😍😍😁😁😁😁😍😁😍❤
kira looks absolutely jacked in this video and it’s the greatest thing ever
This video just started and it’s really impossible to ignore the sheer amount of bicep
Agree
She would be my first choice as a party member in a fantasy RPG. She could kick some serious tail.

That way, you use some fingers to blink the eyes, and one index finger to move the ears, and those are all on the same hand, like a marionette.
