What's next? Snow globe sleeves for Christmas? I wouldn't put it past your genius
YESSSS
well, if she didn't think it of it before, its on her list now. lol
PLS
Oh Rachel, idea gifts!
That is so much, but also yes please
Everyone else: ahh, October! Time to bring out the pumpkins!
Rachel: I AM THE PUMPKIN
You're damn right she is! 🤣🎃
She is the Pumpkin Queen and we shall all be the strange little pumpkins throughout the pumpkin patch. 🤣🎃🎃
HALLOWEEN! 🎃
Ahhh Kristina! The two coziest aesthetic ladies on RUclips!
@@meagantrout2127 hehe oh hi!
Look up "sleeve headers". Basically a short ruffle of tulle, stiff interfacing or quilted fabric, which you sew into the top of your sleeve so it stays lifted at the top instead of sagging. I think it would help you when making big puff sleeves like this.❤️
comments section always knows.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm enjoying this ''Sleeves but make it whimsical'' series
Airbrush tip from someone who has only used them in a custom automotive refinishing class: keep it horizontal. That unfortunately means hanging the cloth upright. Also, take it completely apart in between uses and run paint thinner through it and clean all the parts. You're amazing at airbrushing, just holding it so it's hard for it to stay together :) I love how this turned out!
I was looking or this comment. Thanks.
oh that's awesome! Thanks!
Yesssss so helpful
So we have two themes here, first a new installment of "I tried to make a cute pumpkin but it's cursed" and also the very important category of "but make it sleeves"
I'm here for it
Underrated comment right here!
Actually second installment of making a pumpkin cursed. Remember the pumpkin head?
These projects always make me think about how Anne of Green Gables desperately wanted puffed sleeves
Me too!
Yes!
Same!
Puffed sleeves were considered to be cute back then XD i think they're still cute but back then they were really popular
I just listened to the audiobook of Anne of Green Gables on some very long flights, hadn't read it before. I LOVED it!
Spooky Rachel is so powerful this year 🎃
I love how many treats Nick brings her in this video lol
Your videos were so well timed 😂 🎃
@@floralspectre 😂
Halloween! My favorite holiday. Im 65 and my mom is 86. She has made and collected costumes for 45 years and still dresses up every year.
Goals!!!! Happy Halloween to your dear mother and you!!
Maybe she should try to make these puffy sleeves! haha
I'm 65 almost 66 and I do the same thing. I love Halloween! It is my favorite holiday. I would be so sad if I couldn't dress up. I even have Halloween leggings, shirts, socks, and jewelry, I wear all October.
Your Mom is the real MVP
That must be an incredible collection!
Rachel: I hope someone is inspired to make these.
Me: *adds bagel bites to shopping list*

🤣🤣🤣
“Why you blowing so spitty?”
Thank you Nick! Not only do you take care of Rachel by feeding her Bagel Bites and donuts, you provide that extra special comic moment.
100% marriage goals, right? 😍
What a dear chap 🥰
K, so, you ought to go "pah" at the candle. Less hyperventilating.
Funnily enough when I qued up the video a gust of wind picked up outside my window and carried the leaves down the street.
Rachel has officially become so powerful that simply viewing her likeness brings forth the power of crunchy leaves
Your little wax familiar is a great idea for a Halloween-themed D&D item. Light the candle to summon the familiar, blow the candle out to dismiss & once the candle's used up, you lose the familiar.
Or you release the familiar to the wider universe?! I vote for _not_ going into the proverbial basement on this one...

@@markmybirds Hey Neighbour! The Valley represented here tonight.

I WAS making spooky cupcakes, but NOW my interest is 100% in jack-o’-lantern sleeves that glow!!
Making spooky cupcakes here too! Loveee the sleeves 🎃
That would be an adorable idea for the sleeves too!! I'm sure you probably meant real cupcakes, and please yes do that, but in my mind there's a skull cherry on the top of a monster-green iced cupcake (with pumpkin sprinkles) and the whole thing is just insanely cute.
@@spinynrmn7121 dude that would be awesome!! *adds idea to list of spooky crafts*
I feel like adding a string of fairy lights would work really well in making the pumpkins glow more! Also maybe starching the sleeves too or using interfacing for the sleeves somehow to make them stand up more. It all came out amazing though, they’re adorable! The airbrushing on the bodice is such a nice touch
I thought the same re the fairy lights!
“Get jackin on this - no?”
Literally made me start laughing 😂 I thought it too Rachel, I thought it too
I got lucky and found a "craft-free-for-all" and thought to myself, "I could teach myself to knit, right? Rachel tries new crafts all the time, and she doesn't give up just because she messes up!"
What I'm saying is that I both blame and thank you for all your inspiring work!
I got in the same situation with sewing because "Rachel taught herself and she's amazing and even when she messes up doesn't mean she won't get even better so why shouldn't I do it" so yay for Rachel pushing us all down some crafty rabbit holes!
Rachel is one of my top inspirations to take up sewing - specifically clothing - last year. I'm not extremely good yet but have made some projects I'm pretty proud of. I find it refreshing that she and a lot of other creators online are honest when they have things that mess up; breaking that illusion of perfection is way more encouraging!
I crocheted a rather sad scarf once. I want to master crochet so bad! Okay well at least make a decent afghan. I watch tutorials. I get a headache and decide it’s not my thing. I do this weekly. 😂😊
@@lynnhobby32321 Tip: Find a simple granny square pattern, and just keep going around until you have a square large enough to be an afghan. This has been my go to for thirty years, and they all look great!
The only thing bigger than Rachel's sleeves is her Autumnal Ambition and we love that 😍
For future reference: You can make the top of the sleeve stand up more by sewing two or three layers of tulle down the middle after having gathered it down the middle to make ruffles. Sew them to the top of the outside of the inner sleeve. Makes it "perky"! For you Future Self! That top is Super Stinkin' Cute! I'd make it for myself but my chest is much too large for that. I'd get arrested! Happy Halloween 🎃 🪄🐈⬛🍁🍂🖖🫖☕️❄️
This! And adding a row of boning on either side of the front lacing will keep that lacing much more flat so it doesn't bunch up. I love your ideas and your tenaciousness in your costuming.
I was gonna say just stuff the whole sleeve with tulle, but yours is better.
@@cherylrosbak4092 well now, thank you kindly! 🪄🐈⬛🎃🍁🖖🍂🫖☕️
i like that nick just brings you food this whole episode 😊 very wholesome
The donut looked amazing. 🤤

That stripped blouse is EVERYTHING
Very Lydia in Beetlejuice vibes! But like she's now employed and not a disaffected youth, lol
With Rachel’s hair like that, she looks like Lydia in the beetlejuice musical and it definitely fits the spooky vibes!
We've had (i think) summer mushie sleeves, spring terrarium, and fall punkins... there needs to be a winter sleeve to *round* it all out

Your striped dress along with your short black hair in the beginning look like a fusion between lydia and beetlejuice from the musical. That makes me very happy.
Cool pumpkin sleeves.🎃🎃
With the corset and puffed sleeves, you look like a Gothic Snow White.😊
Omg, yes she does.❤❤
I love that your videos are honest about what was difficult. It helps me feel happier with the things I create even if they aren't my "perfect" idea.
Always love how helpful the comments are in your videos with crafting but never in a know-it-all way, just giving suggestions. It's so wholesome
right?? just scrolling through the comment section after watching one of Rachel's whimsical videos makes the whole experience even better and more wholesome.
Hey Rachel, I love these sleeve videos! They always turn out great. I was wondering if you've every thought to do a lady headless horseman? You could change it to the headless hostess who haunts the halls of an old victorian house! It would be a great costume for Max-O-Ween! Keep up the great Halloween content!
I wouldn't have noticed there were flaws until you pointed it out. It is so cute and honestly amazing, a little sassy, a lot whimsy, you did a wonderful job. I love it!
If movies taught me anything, whatever you do "Don't light your wax familiar!". Love your videos Rachel.
First prickly alpaca releases her pumpkin dress video and now Rachel has a pumpkin shirt! Today is a wonderful day for us spooky souls.
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Less than 20 seconds in and the vibes are IMMACULATE.
That happens to me on all her videos .... can't even get seconds in!
When you said 'Ask me about my pumpkins.' I immediately started singing Elvira's 'Two Big Pumpkins'. :D
Acu-pump-ture. 😂🤣🤣🤣
Rachel, you GEM!
Your pumpkin bodice and sleeves turned out so cute! I even enjoy the droopy, lumpy, i-left-this-on-the-porch-too-long vibe. The festivity is real 😭👏🏻👏🏻
Loving the “life is too short for boring sleeves” series. And Nick being around to deliver munchkins and the hard truths of life. 😂
I think the scalloping you created on the upper and lower edges of the bodice is a really nice touch too.
😄Anyone else get a little giggle hearing Rachel shuffle around in her slippers?
The reveal immediately gave me ‘Queen of the Pumpkin Patch’ vibe and I feel like maybe you should a pumpkin stem tiara thing! But it’s really cute! You’re so talented! ❤
Oooo yes. I could totally see that winding around her head and trailing down to a sleeve. 🎃
Things as sleeves is one of my favorite segments of this channel
🤣😂 things. As. Sleeves hahaha
I have to thank you Rachel, because you are the reason why I got my sewing machine, and am now on my 4th hand sewn cosplay :)
Plea to the Spooky Queen: will we be graced with another But Make It Vintage soon? (Humbly walks backwards out the door still bowing).
Nice form on the backing out while bowing (I always, always trip - embarrassing). I bow to you, Dear Human. And of course, pass my deepest hopes for another But Make It Vintage to her highness...

Rachel, you inspire me in so many ways. Both good and bad. You make me be more creative in my cosplays, but also inspire me to mess with my hair at an alarming rate. The dark bob is so cute on you
Watched this while crocheting a jack-o-lantern crop top. The spooky vibes are off the charts 🥰
mushroom sleeves, jack-o'-lantern sleeves, terrarium sleeves.... *EVERYTHING SLEEVES*
Just the right combo of cute and spooky. I saw a quote today that imperfect action is better that perfect inaction, so there you go!
Or as I have heard and try to remember,
Don’t let perfect get in the way of good.
Omg, so I'm an American married to a Brit and living in England, I've been here for six years and it was LITERALLY JUST THIS YEAR that I said "gotten" once and my husband just chuckled and went "that's so American" and I was like "????????????" so yes I just learned the got/gotten thing too and now I'm so self-conscious about it. But sometimes sentences just sound wrong with 'got'!!! Anyway thank you for coming with me on this journey.
Really cute blouse! You could probably puff out the sleeves by stuffing them with tulle or crinoline mesh, and could string fairy lights through the mesh to make it more evenly lighted. But your creativity is so much fun!
The most Rachel video of them all - everything was on point. And I am obsessed with your black and white stripey top.
PS - Had to laugh at the girl from Massachusetts wondering where her "R's" went.
This should be a new meme 😂 Forget "MORE Houseplants" & "MORE Cowbell" IT'S MORE SLEEVES 😁
"MORE SLEEVE!"
Thanks for fun content. Adding some netting inside will help sleeves be "puffier". What cha gonna for winter. Snowman, lol. Love it.
Yes! Tablecloths are amazing! I bought a lot of them plus table runners, bolts of tulle, almost an entire bolt of satin, and organza all on Facebook marketplace for cheap. It was all used for a wedding. I washed everything and there was still pieces of cake on the tablecloths! 🍰
When I saw your video pop up I literally thought, "Rachel's decided to wear leaf bags for sleeves." They look wonderful. I love how your imagination comes up with something and you bring us along for the journey.

This before I’m ten minutes into the video. The wax familiar is watching over you👁😺
It's 2023 fall season and I'm rewatching every video from Rachel that is at least a bit autumn-ish 🍁🥰

Yay second like and comment. Love this content. Best to you and your family. Happy Halloween!!!!! 🎃 👻 🎃 👻 🎃 👻 🎃 👻 🎃 👻 🎃
I love that you finish out by saying the things you would change. I know so many of us creatives are also perfectionists, and can be so overwhelmed by the thought of not getting things “right“, that we never do anything at all. Seeing the really cool stuff that you make and knowing that it wasn’t perfect to you, makes me less afraid to try my own things. Thank you!
I love the spooky dark lighting of this video 😍 can we appreciate how much effort this looked like to make omg
So cute! By the way, the past participle is basically used after "have" (e.g., "I have gotten a lot done already.")
🤓
Props to folks that are trying to keep folks knowing the rules of English ! May seem "fussy", BUT, they are meant to keep things CLEAR !
If I had a DIME for every time someone muttered 2 words & thought, somehow, I knew what they meant, I'ld be rich! Lol !
It's about COMMUNICATION, folks ! Don't mean a thing if the other person doesn't understand!
Only in America. In Britain they dropped the "en" maybe a century back. US says "have gotten," UK says "have got". 🙂
The sleeves are so adorably cute!
Fun sewing tips for anyone trying this moving forward:
If you gather layers of tulle at the sleeve cap it would support the sleeve for maximum floof. It is used a lot in theatre to eliminate the need for sleeve supports in 1830s/1890s garments.
If you'd like the light to only come from the face holes. You can get a plastic material called, "black out fabric" that can be bought at Joanns in the drapery section. Flatline it to the puff sleeve that way the light only spills out from the face holes.
One good way to puff out big sleeves In costumes I made in college was to fill the inner space with tule, weighs nothing and is stiff enough to fill out the void
Or sew-in interfacing, or wadded-up tissue paper; our great-grandmothers had some great hacks!
LOVE the fall vibes. The ending of blowing the candle had me cracking me up hahahaha
This is the cutest! You could make snowman sleeves for winter or something like that so you have a pair of giant sleeves for every season
This blouse and your pumpkin lady head. Scare all the neighbours good and proper. Mwah! Thanks for another fun one, Rachel.
Nick just loves to swoop in and save the day 😅💖
Rachel and her love for crunchy leafy season is the only reason I get excited for crunchy leafy season
Your brain is the most magical place on Earth. How do you come up with such enchanting madcap ideas? The sleeves give me major Halloweentown vibes. I adore them, especially when they’re all lit up! 🎃
These are really cute, and I love the idea!
Maybe to really capture the jackolantern vibe, make the outside layer out of lightweight solid orange, then interline with an opaque fabric (maybe orange or black?) with cutouts made of the same COLOUR fabric, but more sheer. That way the sleeves would look solid in normal light, but in low light with the LEDs on, the face cutouts would glow!
SO SPONKY I LOVE IT 😭❤️
I think it work really well if you put some black or brown fabric attached underneath the orange for the pumpkin sleeves so the lights didn’t shine through the orange, and only through the black mesh. Then that would also add some structure to the sleeves and you could also do a similar thing to the bodice where you made pouffy panels (but I don’t think you would have to cut them out , maybe just achieve that by stitching and gathering the orange on top of the black/brown? It would just be way more complicated lmao!
I love that my birthday is in October, all of RUclips becomes so joyfully creative and cute!
omg I love the aesthetic of this video 💀💀
After a day that was not great for me, this is what I need. 🧡🎃🖤
I love how you attack these project without the fear of failing. I will be teaching a high school costume design course second semester and this is the main thing I want to teach them. You are a wonderful role model! Thank you, Rachel.
On this channel, we like our pumpkins lookin cursed!!
😅🕷💐🕷💐
Me refreshing for the last half hour because Saturday morning (in Aus) is my fav time to hang out w Rachel!
this was so cute! your katrina outfit at the beginning reminded me of shipwrecked's new web series headless, which is super fun so far and I highly recommend!! Also you could try putting something over the LEDs to diffuse the light more evenly instead of shining thru the one spot! 🎃🎃
So adorable! It might work to add some translucent stuffing to the sleeves, or batting. It would help diffuse the LED light and puff out the pumpkins at the same time. I love this project, and hope to get a chance to try it myself. Thank you!
Awesome!!!!
My favourite spooky lady, making spooky clothes ill never recreate, but that put me in the perfect spooky mood :D
I've followed you for a few years now, but recently started re-watching your older videos again. Let me tell you the soothing this gives my heart is everything the world needs. Wholesome, pure, whimsy that after a rough year is just perfect for the soul.
Big poufy sleeve hack (my great-grandmothers did this): Sew-in interfacing, tulle, even crumpled tissue paper will keep sleeve poufs fully poufed.
