- HAPPY HALLOWEEN MY FRIENDS!!!!! So this vide is a bit later than expected, but basically... this week was CURSED, hahaha. Despite all the setbacks and challenges, I finally got it done and I'm so excited to share it with you!
It's become sortof an annual tradition that I make an outfit based on one of the characters from Nightmare Before Christmas, so THIS YEAR, I chose to recreate one of my favorite illustrations and make an 1890's Jack! This is my favorite era of fashion, PLUS my favorite time of year, WIN WIN BAY-BEE.
OKay that's it I hope you enjoy and have a happy & safe Halloween!!!! (or November depending on when you're reading this)

HELLO MY LOVES!! Captions will be up first thing tomorrow, I hope you have a safe & happy halloween!!!!!!
just finished doing my makeup and hair for halloween!
I LOVE UR VIDEOS
Happy you managed to post today ❤️
Not to offend, but you sound like you were losing your sanity through the video. Are you ok?
Happy Halloween! 🎃 👻 ☠️ 🐉 👹🍭🍁
The fact that Binx made more appearances in this month's videos than they have in the entirety of videos I've watched in the past two years confirms it: Binx is also a Hobgoblin of Spooktober
A true child of Halloween
She's adorbs!!!! Also sassy like the rest of the Maksy's
Came here to say this! I'm loving all the Binx!
I love all of the Binx content! She’s so stinking cute!
Same! Super enjoy Binx becoming a regular
"I am not a special effects artist" literally won the NYX face awards for being a special effects artist
Oh? Elaboration?
oh? do share
NYX cosmetics hosts an FX makeup competition every year called the NYX Face Awards. Rachel participated and won in 2018.
I don't know what's confusing the people in the replies. What's there to elaborate and share? They literally told you she won the NYX face awards one year. Get googling.
But seriously, she has this tendency to minimize her work. It's becoming grating. She can literally sew and make almost anything and she still can't say it's amazing. I paused at the bit where she said she's a dollar store version of people on Face Off. Women do this kind of shxt all the time and I can't stand it anymore.
@@LaynieFingers thanks for replying! That's super cool I didnt know that was a thing
"NONE YA BUSINESS!"
Rachel, you must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.
i think its "admire and adore" . . . maybe lol
I was expecting her to say “your Momma” 😂
This needs to be a tiktok
This part legitimately made me cackle out loud lol, I relate so hard
@@seame3795 Legitimately, I would say "yer mutheh" in a creepy raspy voice.
The ghosts in the graveyard: “weird girl is back! Myrtle, come look!”
Progression of Rachel’s style is just sleeves getting gradually larger and poofier
lol that's also the progression of history... we love a historical queen
her final dress will only be SLEEVES and theyll be so poofy that they double as the skirt.
You say it like it's a bad thing. 😜 There's a lot of puff on my sleeves too. Puff is love, puff is live.
@@eminakostic3406 Sounds to me like something Rachel would make!
"none ya business!" Had me rolling. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Ngl, I thought she was going to shout 'Your Mom!' at those teens😂
Same🤣🤣 I pictured the Hocus Pocus bullies who were hanging out in the graveyard
I thought she'd say "What mask?" 😄
@@josiegraffjewelrydesign6907 I would have said your mom😂
As the mother whose been through the teenage years twice I was actually hoping you’d pull out a switch and chase them off. I’m still having random fits if laughter, the little 💩s.
The way she said NUNYA BUSINESS makes me laugh so hard every time it sounds like an old witch of the woods from a Disney movie and I love it
Rachel: I’m lucky someone sent me this frikin amazing fabric.
My mum, from across the room: Is it earth tones?
"NUNYA BUSINESS!" honestly if a Skellington yells that at me, I'm runnin' - clearly I am about to be hexed
I cackled lol
@@SlackerLife0 me too!! I'm still laughing as I post
Hahaha
OMG died at that, so cute, mannn
I may be dating myself but I would have whipped out a quick “YOUR MOM” in a demon voice 😆
Now I'm going to constantly imagine Gandalf shouting "THIS TOO SHALL PASS!" whenever I'm on the floor devoid of life
Me too!! 😂🤣😂
Hearing Gandalf shout it makes that expression so much better! 😆
Honestly surprisingly reassuring
Hahaha I’m gunna make this reference to people when they are struggling and no one will understand why I’m yelling such a comforting phrase with such authority.
I adore how comfortable she is with telling her viewers all the blood, sweat, and tears going into her projects; Instead of skipping through the struggle cause it is about the journey then the destination. You deserve so much love dear and I hope your Halloween went well.
agreed!! honestly one of the reasons i love rachel is bc she doesnt shy away from how she is feeling during the process! it makes me feel less alone in my worry as a creator, and in turn more bold with my projects
I love her!
Me going “I bet you could have pad stitched the collar” when I know damn well I have never pad stitched a collar a DAY in my LIFE. Too much Bernadette Banner for the week. 😂
I must say, Rachel's version of the "person slowly goes mad after a series of never-ending setbacks" storyline is much more classy and civilized than Stephen King's. Jack Torrance could NEVER.
Please tell Binx we are so proud of her for new found camera confidence
What's this, WHAT'S THIS?! Your costume turned out SOOO GOOD! (I especially loved the custom paint color ;) ) Happy Halloween!
Ah! What a pleasure to see you here😌✨ love seeing creators that I enjoy also enjoying each other🌤
Chefs kiss of a comment! Lol
Love your videos, both abitfrank and Rachel!!!
"There's just something about balloon sleeves."
Rachel is Anne Shirley, confirmed. 😉
❤️✨❤️
Must be something that comes packaged with long red hair 😝 Even if it's artificially achieved, the sleeve fixation is clearly part of the meta-narrative...
YEA
"What do ya look like... underneath the mask?"
"NUN YA BUISNESS"
Lmao I screamedd
I adore the fact that while everyone else is using generators for phones, lights and maybe small appliances, you used yours to run a sewing machine. That's dedication. The puffed sleeves are fabulous! Great job! Happy Halloween!
"What do you look like under the mask?"
"Mask? What mask?!"
You're freakin' adorable, Rachel.
"Stress cry" lol. I get that. Once I was at a workshop and my project broke near the end of the day and I told the instructor, "I just need to go have a meltdown real quick, I'll be back in a few minutes". Your project ultimately turned out much better than mine did!
The fact that you just kept going with this project even without power to your house is amazing. You’re so committed to this work and I’m so proud of you!
1. This is definitely one of my most favorite looks Rachel has done thus far.
2. She may have cringed at her response to the heckling teens, but I say WTF to their question. It wasn't clever at all even in a rude way.
The last time I got heckled by teens about my Halloween mask, I said "Your face." They were butthurt, but the older gentleman nearby laughed himself onto a bench.
Hot tip for someone who was without an iron and desperately needed one: heating a flat bottomed pot or pan with a bit of water in it and then using it as you would an iron. Works surprisingly well! Of course, only really works if you have a gas range or a gloriously large fireplace haha
If it's a small area, a flat iron also works in my experience.
I appreciate how you include the unpleasant moments of being a creator, even if that means an embarrassing interaction with teenagers.
If you’re ever stuck for an iron, hair straighteners are lover powered and work well for small areas near edges! It’s saved me many times at work or when traveling!
Is it sad that I used to use mine on the regular before I got a proper iron? XD
Brilliant idea!
I honestly love the typo in this 😂
@@shaenanigans 😘😘😘 haha! I saw it and left it in because it made me giggle too!
As a sfx professional I would like to say the (depending on how much time the director wants to give us) we tend to use whatever we can get our hands on lol so keep on with what you’re doing ♥️
What would u do differently? Not saying rachel isn't awesome (cuz she is) but like out of curiosity
@@ahhh4117 if the director gave me an open budget and time then I would make a live cast of whoever’s wearing the mask (if I didn’t have one) then sculpt the mask and cast that as well. Then smush the two together the make the negative mold. Thankfully the main two directors I work for usually give me decent time and money. But I have worked for a few that want you to take a 2-3 week process and cut it down to a matter of days and with less then half the budget and supplies. But I like being creative so I don’t mind too too much.
Rachel: *cries for a half hour while the universe throws obstacles at her*
Rachel: And we have ~fun~ here!
I mean, yes? But also, I just couldn't help thinking that maybe getting this out by Halloween was just not as important as catching a dang break.
When Rachel goes "not everything went as planned but it's fine" we all go GOOOOD ENOUUUGH
Kudos to you for taking on a 26 piece pattern. Girl, you crazy. The costume turned out spectacular. We all appreciate you sharing your talents with us.🧡🖤🎃💀👻🧡
RACHEL. THIS IS FABULOUS. "Lol nope" - who cares if it's not a couple days before Halloween. We're just happy to see you.
Youths: " I wanna see what you look like under the mask"
What Rachel should have said : " what mask?
That would have been a good comeback but "none ya business" worked well, too! After all, it must be difficult to sling a good come-back while dancing through the cemetery in a puffy-sleeve femininized version of Jack Skeffington while directing your husband as he films you.
A fantastic costume, you'll be the toast of all Halloween parties!
"So, I took my already terrifying mannequin head."
Me looking over at my own terrifying mannequin head sitting on my kitchen table. Terrifying indeed, but great for using when you're styling a wig.
Distracted comment: I think Binx knew you're having a rough day, that's why she kept wandering near you.. ☺
that brown sweater and suspenders look was giving me "1950s fisherman, who lives in a bar near the pier, and is married to the sea"....-vibes...in the best way possible
Brandy you’re a fine girl.
@@itzel1735 what a good wife you would be
But my life, my love, and my laaaydee!
@@mcwjes is the SEA !!!!
I'm honestly surprised someone hasn't employed you for special effects on a low-budget/student horror movie yet. You do such fantastic work on short time frames and little money!
1. So proud of you for doing so much with no power! Seriously impressive.
2. Ballon sleeves are life, more balloon sleeves! I loved seeing the crazy amount of fabric that goes into them lol
3. We love the references!
4. I'm just so proud because I've been watching your channel for a loooong time and seeing how much more confident you are with sewing and how good you've gotten???? Like??? Amazing.
5. I teach 8th grade and those teens at the end would've gotten a Look from me.
I felt extremely called out by "a closet full of costumes and nothing to wear" as I sit in my driveway with the candy bowl in a kigurumi because I couldn't find anything to wear
The authenticity of your pets just Always. Being. In. The. Way. makes your videos so cozy and relatable! It turned out wonderful like always!
Considering how much I've been crafting this year and my cat has bugged me to get into my crafting room I totally am with you
I love that Binx has been less camera shy lately. She's such a sweet, beautiful girl. I always enjoy seeing her. 🙂
Love the Sassy Skellington Rachel!
I would've just turned toward those teenagers very slowly and said "What mask?"
I absolutely love the disheveled Rachel at the end. Your energy is the embodiment of all of us makers and sewists when we pull off a successful project! The Happiest of Halloweens to you!
“Am I making a lot of references in this video?” It’s okay. You’re stressed Rachel. Those are your emotional support references.
omg, this is great and absolutely correct lol
Rachel as she shot the final reveal giving some wonderful Jim Carrey's Grinch vibes and I am _here_ for it!!
This is our family’s favorite video you have ever done. My wife is very impressed that you matched up the stripes on the bodice. My daughter is impressed with your sense of humor under stress. Know that you’re inspiring a generation as to how to handle disaster. Happy spooky time.
Hey, you know that when you're feeling overwhelmed its also very okay not to post and that If you feel you have to post something to feed the algorithm, I'd also be happy to watch a one take of your cat running around or something. Maybe a first person view of your cat as it torments your sewing projects? :D
Right? And she’s in the middle of buying a new home as well? I admire this but hate to applaud it at the same time. I can’t imagine any of us going anywhere even if she took months off.
Oh my god yes please
Just an entire compilation video of Binx
Binx really said, “Frodo has had it too good for too long. It’s my time to SHINE.”
Anytime I get cat called from now on, I will 100% be using Rachel’s ol timey, “NON YA BUSINESS!”. They’ll never see it coming.
“It’s just attaching them to each other” yes Rachel, this is sewing 😂😂💕
Thank you Jill and Blaine!! That was an amazing gift not just the Rachel but to our whole community 🤍
I love how your dog just randomly disrupts things by running across your patterns 😂😭
The long pause overlaid with "i don't remember what reference i was going to make" had me cackling 😂 also this looks great omg!!!!!
My wife watches your work religiously and i just wanted to stop by and say that it was very cool, and brave, and important, and good that you were open like you were about some of the difficulties you were having during this project, and presented them in a way that underscores the fact that it's okay to process hard things in your own way, and that you don't need other peoples' permission to accomodate yourself as much as you need to get through it, regardless of the circumstances or the difficulty at-hand, and it wasn't something to be ashamed of. The dress/costuming was great, don't get me wrong, but that one quick aside was one of the most quietly powerful sequences i've seen in a create/reveal video, and i think it's going to affect a lot of people in a positive way. Bout to well up over here just thinking about it lol
Your wife is lucky to have you and I sincerely hope she cherishes you as much as you cherish her. 😀
I hope Rachel reads this comment
Well said!
That clip of Schmidt from New Girl absolutely sent me - “Youths!” - I was dying laughing, crying, wheezing, the silent rock back and forth while you hold your elbows and trying to compose myself enough to explain to my husband what was going on only to continue lapsing into fits of cackling hysterics at the hilarity of explaining what you were doing, what the hecklers were saying and the clip of Schmidt. I have only just recovered enough to write this comment.
I love this
SAME
Rachel is the quintessential definition of the word 'cozy'.
I love how, living about an hour north, I can pretty much guess what gets filmed on what day by the weather in the background...
also, now I kinda want to see Rachel use that mask to do a take on Skeletor (mostly 'cause I think she's do a good impression of him...)
I was Classic Jack Skellington this year, now I wish we'd met and done the *two spider-men pointing at each other* meme lol
I love it. 1890s sleeves are goals. It really is a statement and that statement is "look upon my sleeves, ye mighty, and despair".
"There are few things in this life that I am extremely passionate about: Carbs, videos of baby chimpanzees, and 1890s sleeves." Well, it rhymes so it must be true!
I loved the symphony of orange and green at the beginning.
And whoa nellie, does that 1890s silhouette look GOOOOOOD on you!
Did Rachel really just have a "squirrel!" moment with an actual squirrel on her lawn? lol - love you, Rachel!
The fact that you managed to do this with minimal electricity options is ama-zing! I hope that it never happens again for your sake. The whole ensemble is really cute!
I love that this was "a mess", it's so real. It was still super fun, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for putting it out there, and for doing what you do.
I really appreciate seeing your tiny screaming gremlin more! Her incessant prrrmowww is so precious.
"NONE YA BIZNESS" has me cackling and I love it
I really want to see like a costume/cosplay through the years where you go over most of the things you’ve made since the beginning of your sewing journey
Every time you start making a prop I'm like "hm, I don't know about this one", then you paint it and suddenly it looks awesome and _real_!
Having somewhat followed your whole ordeal on Instagram, it took no more than "Welcome to the *actual* 1800s" to have me in stitches - it definitely can't have been fun to live through, but rest assured your cursed week made for one hell of an entertaining video (also the thunder rumble on the day three title card was *chef's kiss*)
“None of ya business!”
*flicks skeleton hands*
I had to replay that a couple of times HAHA
Same hahahaha
I can only bow in front of your determination to finish this project despite the Fate being agaisnt you. You are my sewing godess Rachel. And this costume is pure Halloween magic !
And the Pumpkin Lady was perfect for the role.
Your mom is always a solid and classic comeback
Proper response to the hackling would be "What Mask?".
I love how much Binx wants to be in the videos the passed few weeks x) She's such a cutie!
Also Rachel laying on the floor with all the pattern pieces regretting all of her life's decision is 100% relatable x)
✨🌠🙌 the moodest - a perfect image of my soul
A good comeback would have been "what mask?" followed by an evil laugh but the way you said "none ya business" was comedic gold in my mind.
I love how you live in the moment! Even when things are going wrong, you stop to admire the good things! 😀
“No I’m not selling you black market watches in a dark alleyway” 🤣🤣 hands up all of those who would buy black market watches from Rachel in a dark alleyway 👻👻👻 Rachel, I absolutely loved this content, you just get better and better GIRL!
Me! I would, only from Rachel.
those teenagers would've been devastated if you said "yo mama". this is a great missed opportunity!
I don't know if you'll see this but I've been binge watching your videos for about a week now while I work and they are so relaxing to me and help me destress. You also have inspired me to be more confident in myself when I start making videos. So thank you so much!
"None ya business" made me laugh harder than it should. Love how you dont give a crap when out in public ❤
i appreciate the brief voiceover for cats, my cat was giving her full attention to the process there!
Hahaha *rapt attention*
Rachel really had no power, freezing cold temps and meltdowns and still put out a Halloween treat for us with an incredible costume?! We are so grateful 🎃💖
This is just so incredibly impressive, and the fact that you did most of it without having power is just crazy!
That smile during the reveal was everything! You look so happy and giddy Rachel!
I admire how energy-saving your mood is, it's so interesting to witness in a midst of high-energy RUclipsrs.
Spooktacular, Darling!
Fun fact: “these things” are called “Brads.” I will forever remember that because that’s my dads name and my second grade teacher called them “Cricket’s dads.” Shout out to Mrs. Gage!
the everything is awesome. the fact that the jaw is sticking out is awesome. the frickin "nanya business" from the heckling teenagers is EPIC (ooh looky here I used a different adjective) Rachel I swear you're a god
I'm so proud of you for actually finishing this project despite everything that came your way! It turned out absolutely fabulous 😍
Loved every moment of this, but “Noneya business!” literally made me laugh out loud!
I must say, that balaclava without the mask is slightly terrifying...
Rachel you’re just.. a beast for completing this project and editing it into a masterpiece. Chefs kiss to you! Right on the cheek!!!!
This channel is so amazing! So cozy and interesting. Makes me wanna start sewing and crafts again.
Oh my God after that heroic effort to make this whole thing happen, "nunya bisniss" is exactly what those teens deserved. Awesome!!
ok, but does she have a spotify playlist? cause i love every song she plays in literally every video but i can never find them.
I love watching/rewatching your videos'.
You're a inspiration, especially when it comes to talking back to heckling teenagers.
'None ya business' - 10/10 perfection. Boom. Gottem. lol
I enjoyed watching this so much. The act that you completed all you did with so many days without 'lectricity blows my mind. Skuld of to you!!! Chef's kiss and applause, you rock!!!!!
I spent my Cape Cod nor'easter blackout contemplating the meaning of life...
Reached no conclusion, but I'm glad someone used the best of their time!
I had so much sympathy for you and your struggles with keeping on a schedule through uncontrollable circumstances. You did amazing!
I don't know if it takes less power than your iron, but I've used my hair straightener for emergency crafting /seam pressing when I ran out of flat surfaces to work on.
The chaotic gremlin energy of that "Non-ya Business" was palpable!
You won Halloween this year, hands down. That pattern is hella complex and yet you completed it with no electricity. You are now the queen of sewing Halloween costumes. Long live the Pumpkin Queen!
oof losing power is no joke. my city was hit with a "derecho" last summer we were out of power for like 10 days, never realized what a blessing a gas water heater was until hot showers were the only modern amenity still available to me for over a week lol
Dude a hot shower sounds so nice right now, too bad I'm too tired for it tonight. :( Far too chilly to wake up in a room temperature tub.
Yeah same with a solar heater.
