Super footage. I always think of doves being timid wee things that are scared of their own shadows...not so! They'll beat up any bird that's willing to take them on lol! They regularly have disputes with woodpigeons in my garden. Hardy wee things indeed 😁👍
I love wood pigeons, but they are almost always attacking first, because of the weight advantage. Even here at my balcony they are mostly the aggressor.
Wood pigeons can be territorial at times (my balcony is a daily pigeon muay thai dojo with oats and water and a few grey squirrels), but they would never actually hurt another bird, they are relatively peaceful, they can just get a bit jingoistic.
The big pigeon is a parent and its being defensive. If you look closely at its breaks and mouth joint its wet. Indicating that it had chicks at that time. And it needs food.
