Ring-necked doves are a very intelligent and also very social breed of bird. I remember we had a couple that always nested in an oak tree my mother herself planted, when I was a youngster. Every year, they'd come back and have their babies.

Hi! question, we are trying to decide when and where to release our collared dove that was injured 2 weeks ago in a big city 30 miles from here but she's better now. Did you release your dove to a flock or did she find a flock on her own?
My wife and I have done this before. We have a dove in our tree named blue that we had with a broken wing for six weeks. She is not tame and although she never has been she did land in my hand one day. We have lived here for 15 years and always fed the birds. They even bring their babies to show them where to get a meal.

The coo of the collared dover always reminds me of my childhood at my grandparents. A couple of weeks ago I went back to my old university (I'm 48 now) and a dove started coo-ing. It gelt like my grandparents were with me, almost, and I had a little cry. Thinking about all the journeys I've been on since they passed away. But it was a happy cry.
I ♥️♥️ the Dove. And I can swear that they Are a living Spirit, the most loving and gentlest of Spirits at that. Days before my mother passed away there were 2 Doves just walking around our home. That reminds me at something that happened to me several years ago. When I lived with my parents, we had a man in the neighborhood who had a lot of carrier pigeons. One hot summer day one of this pigeons layed at our balcony and didn't look good. She had her mouth wide open and seemed to suffer by the hot sun. My father wanted her to leave the balcony but I said she is too weak to fly away. She was even too weak to stand up. I brought her some feed and a bowl of fresh water. She didn't eat anything but she drunk a lot. I had to fill the water in a smaller bowl and I placed it near her head so that she was able to drink without moving her body. After a while she stood up and then she vanished. Maybe two weeks later she came back (I recognized her by a ring around her leg) and she sat down and looked exactly in my direction. She sat there a long time and starred at me without moving. I was wondering and felt very strange. I've never had such a situation before. She came back every week and sometimes even a few times a day and starred at me. She also came with another pigeon which sat down in distance at a tree. Later I moved in another place and my parents told me that the pigeons come very often to them, if they were searching for something. Now it's been at least two or three years since this rescue and they are still coming and looking through the window of my parents. A while ago, I was there for visit and "my" pigeon came also and as soon as she noticed me, she seemed to be excited and she moved her head sidewards starring at me and rolling her eyes. I think she knows that I did something good for her and she wants to thank me at her way.
I myself raised a dove and he came sometimes back to say "hello" after he had learned to fly. But then he founded his own family. Nice memories anyway.
What an amazing gift to have someone like this little dove in your life! Be grateful. The bonding was obvious. Like any family member, she may or may not be the responsibility you (realized you) asked for, but she’s yours now. The reason she wants to be close is because birds are flock animals. People who think birds should be thrown in a cage, room, or otherwise kept from their people family either don’t realize this, or are cruel. Hopefully she’ll bond with another dove as well, as she gets older. Also, if she gets sick, make sure to take her to an avian vet, not a cat / dog vet, because the anatomies are different in some key ways. Talk with parrot owners also for important information- like no candles, nonstick pans, perfumes, etc. Avian respiratory systems are many more times more sensitive than humans. Their varied diet is important as well (just as important to know what to avoid, like avocados). I’ll admit being a bird parent is far more work than a cat or dog
Why is everyone so surprised about birds' capacity for bonding and intelligence? We never seem to stop underestimating the creatures we share the planet with. Any rescuer (except sociopaths) is a hero in my book. Good for you all! :)

Same but i raised mine baby dove for a month it still didn't grow adult spotted dove pattern but could fly well I'm still waiting it's been 4 hours. Did yours come back?
You have such a beautiful, kind, gentle and loving heart. Doves are very sensitive and spiritual creatures. Then can notice notice feel the spirit of people and will only interact and bond when the person is a good person......
Hopefully, Trigger's instincts are still strong enough that she can avoid predators out in the wild, as well as strangers (people) that might do her harm or get kidnapped (birdnapped).
Pigeons can recognize individual faces like corvids and since pigeons and doves are technically the same bird I wouldn’t be surprised if she had the same ability. And she should be able to still recognize hawks and the such as predators so hopefully she’ll be fine
@@lookingupwithnathan9647 ... Yes let's hope so. I was also talking about cats & dogs. Obviously she is used to that pet dog, but she could possibly make a mistake of being friendly with a dog stranger that would think of her as food, not to mention cats that stay still & silent in the grass. Maybe even snakes up in a tree. Or poisoned seeds/kibble put out by people to control pests. Hopefully none of those.
Ring necked Doves are amazing birds! They love their people ..... I have shared my home with them a few times and when they fly over that rainbow bridge they leave a huge hole behind ... but , I would question the 25 year life span... the experts that I have consulted, say 15 is a good, ripe old age for a dove... but... we will find out how Trigger fares! What a great experience for this family!
I think the 25 year lifespan just means a dove could live to that age. A dog COULD live to be 30, but it would be extremely rare. Edit: I looked up the lifespans of a few different Columbidae species, and it looks like racing pigeons are the ones that live to be a bit older.
This is one of the most positive channels I have ever seen. It uplifts your spirits when you feel down and out. Kudos to the platform creators and the contributors.
How cute! We have a dove too. My little Chihuahua caught our dove when she was a baby. We nurtured Emily back to health and as with Trigger, she wouldn't leave - actually Emily couldn't leave, she couldn't fly. We've had her now for 20 yrs!!! It's funny but we bought a dove at a bird farm for Emily, the gal asked us how we knew her sex and we told her it was her very sweet cooing - the gal told us we had a male haha - we couldn't change her name because she knew it - and very well!! So, we bought a female (: it didn't take much time at all for them to hang out and be best friends! Dove are awesome and very smart!!

Quail food and calcium grit. Ours likes strawberries. I realize your question is from a year ago but answering it in case anyone needs it. Idk about baby doves.
Wow congrats on your success! One thing I e noticed is that ring net doves tend to be much tamer than other breeds such as mourning doves. And once you let them outside, they will always return for a while. But please don’t ever throw a bird up in the air. Some, like many doves, won’t open their wings when being thrown upward. Congrats on all of it, but especially the feeding! Since doves and pigeons produce crop milk, they are more more difficult to feed and raise. What a beautiful bird. AND a wonderful family for saving it.
You "guess you'll just wing it..." 😆 Sorry couldn't help myself for a perfect bird pun. Thank you for saving Trigger and making her part of your family no matter how crazy things get. You obviously have a kind family and are raising children to love animals and they took the initiative to save Trigger and that says a lot about how they're raised. I'm excited for their future and everyone else. 😀🥰🕊
OMG! That is one of the most endearing stories. Since doves can live to 25 yrs you guys will have to take her with you if you move; or she will be heartbroken 💔.Thanks for sharing that 😀
I grew up on a farm on the west coast where September 1st is beginning of dove hunting season. That looked like it was somewhere on the west coast. For the sake of the family and bird’s life, I hope they bring it in doors during the hunting season.
I know several people that raised baby doves. They are all like this. Live outside but constantly come and hang out with their families. Very loving birds.
@@KarelleDIY "There's no difference between a pigeon and a dove in scientific nomenclature, but colloquial English tends to categorize them by size. Something called a dove is generally smaller than something called a pigeon, but that's not always the case. A common pigeon, for example, is called both a rock dove and a rock pigeon."
If a wild animal has a choice to go back into the wild, and they still come to see you, then you know you treated the animal well and had a good relationship with them. It amazes me seeing that wild animals can form bonds like this with humans. ❤
I live near a nice stretch of suburban woodlands in the bend of a river... I love springtime because the doves hang out on my balcony around sunrise and "talk" with each other. I open the curtains to the sliding doors and enjoy a cup o' bust-head (strong coffee) while enjoying their company. Nature IS awesome...
Never been much of a bird person but there is a pair that nest above my door every year. They don’t really destroy anything so I let them be. They do startle me sometimes when I open the door and they fly off lol
You guys rock. Teaching responsibility and l know this is not what it’s about, to you’re children without even knowing it. They will carry a valuable lesson that they don’t even realize. Such huge hearts that even taught the morning dove about loyalty and love. It came natural to all of you. ❤️

Same but i raised mine baby dove for a month it still didn't grow adult spotted dove pattern but could fly well I'm still waiting it's been 4 hours. Did yours come back?
That's great that she comes back. She has the best of both worlds!
@@robwebnoid5763 Good point. Like you said, hopefully none of those come true
That dove is so in love with you guys. You’re stuck for life!
How Kool is that. What a Great Story...
This is one of the most positive channels I have ever seen. It uplifts your spirits when you feel down and out. Kudos to the platform creators and the contributors.
that because you helped her from young age , like if you adopted a little child when he grew up he will think you everything to him
I guess by now the bird is officially part of the family 💖
Wow animals are so lovely, cute, sweet and such an adorable💗. Do you have a pet?
The family blessed Trigger by saving its life; and now Trigger is blessing the family with its daily visits.
Sweet, cool bird. We rescued a cape canary that was injured when I was growing up, it had the cutest 'personality' of all bird pets I had.
Trigger the dove bird never leaves her new home. 1:01. 😊. 🕊. She brings hope.
Dove are awesome and very smart!!
hi i just found a baby dove but i don’t know what to feed him, he can fly for a bit but he still can’t get the hang of it. he is still a baby but he’s bigger than the size of my palm and has feathers, would you mind sharing what you fed your dove when he/she was a baby? and what he eats now that he/she is older?
Quail food and calcium grit. Ours likes strawberries. I realize your question is from a year ago but answering it in case anyone needs it. Idk about baby doves.
Touching story.
It makes me so happy to know there are bonds like these between animals and humans.
♥️
I love these stories about wildlife bonding with we humans. Best feeling 😊
It's a really heart-warming video!
We used to have a few of these as pets. Wonderful memories
This isn't them, You do realize this is the dodo?
I love doves.
OMG! That is one of the most endearing stories. Since doves can live to 25 yrs you guys will have to take her with you if you move; or she will be heartbroken 💔.Thanks for sharing that 😀
Wow animals are so lovely, cute, sweet and such an adorable😍. Do you have a pet?
Animals n birds. Insects. Snakes. Fish are all understands what is love. Returning love for their rescuers.
I grew up on a farm on the west coast where September 1st is beginning of dove hunting season. That looked like it was somewhere on the west coast. For the sake of the family and bird’s life, I hope they bring it in doors during the hunting season.
Been watching this channel for awhile.VERY KOOL.
Are you sure Trigger hasn't got some homing pigeon in her blood? She keeps returning to human family, LOL. ❤
Doves ARE pigeon descendants, so I wouldn't be surprised if that were true.
0:35 I love how she just hops onto her head, boink!
Animals are Amazing!!❤
Wow animals are so lovely, cute, sweet and such an adorable💗. Do you have a pet?
I know several people that raised baby doves. They are all like this. Live outside but constantly come and hang out with their families. Very loving birds.
i wish all animals got help like this! :(
Beautiful
Pigeons are lovely birds. I could never understand why some people call them rats of the bird species.
Pigeons are lovely. But the bird in this video is a dove
That family just made a lifelong friendship
I just love what you guys are doing with that beautiful 🕊 we need a whole lot more people with hearts like you guys.
❤️ this video!
👍🙏👏
Amazing and beatifull at the same time
That is one funny bird. Thank You for sharing.
Wow animals are so lovely, cute, sweet and such an adorable❣️. Do you have a pet?
"NOAH" IS HAPPY 🕊️
Trigger said “Baby I’m not going nowhere! This my home too! What you thought??!” 😂😂😂
If a wild animal has a choice to go back into the wild, and they still come to see you, then you know you treated the animal well and had a good relationship with them. It amazes me seeing that wild animals can form bonds like this with humans. ❤
Sucha beautiful story ❤️🕊️
I live near a nice stretch of suburban woodlands in the bend of a river... I love springtime because the doves hang out on my balcony around sunrise and "talk" with each other.
I open the curtains to the sliding doors and enjoy a cup o' bust-head (strong coffee)
while enjoying their company. Nature IS awesome...
Just absolutely adorable all round.
They are her family ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for instilling such good stuff in your kiddos. 💕💕💕✌️❤️
Wow animals are so lovely, cute, sweet and such an adorable💗. Do you have a pet?
Lovely story. I feed birds in my garden and have had as many as 22 collared doves feed together. Nice birds to see each day.
That’s so adorable 🥰
That is so cute. That bird loves y'all.
I felt like crying!
Doves and pigeons are amazing
this reminded me of my lovebird, mango.
she sadly went missing outta nowhere this year. my mom just saw her on top of the tv while me and my sister were sleeping, then she just disappeared. she was the best birdie ever.
That’s beautiful. Thank you, Lord.
It's miraculous when wild creatures trust a human. Rejoice!
😆 riding the ceiling fan was too cute ❤
What an awesome story.
When they showed the clip of her perched on a phone I lost it 🤣 ~structurrrrrrre~
Epigenetics and quantum field at its best. Heartwarming to witness these sentient being who choose to have a relationship with humans.
Enjoy this experience ❤
The dove on the van, looks like a carousel ride
in an adventure park 😁
Wow animals are so lovely, cute, sweet and such an adorable❣️. Do you have a pet?
What a great opportunity to share a life with a dove and the dove be free to fly and roam.
as you can see here dear people😍animals are more loyal than people and I am convinced that if Trigger lives at least 25 years 🙏🥰 she will never forget her people - just loyal love 🤗
P.S- thanks to The Dodo for the video 💋💋
