great vid. i bought one in january of this year for about $65 on ebay and it was in perfect condition. The camera is really cool mainly cuz of its infrared capabilities. idk why your M and Auto mode do that weird white thing tho
I bought mine new when it launched and it had great low light focusing using a laser projecting a grid onto which the camera focused. Swapped it when it was replaced by the R1 which had better low light performance but lacked the laser and the tele reach. Still have it.
My dad was telling me this was top of the line back then. Sad the sensor in his camera is kinda wonky nowadays, would have liked to continue shoot with it. I was only in first grade when this launched!
I wonder if it is the DAC that is failing? Maybe not, because that would probably also affect the video. The sensor appears to be just fine, but there is definitely a problem with processing data after the sensor, but it seems to be in the stills data stream. If the sensor was failing, then it would affect video as well as stills. Possibly fixable if you had another camera to cannibalize for parts, however, it is far cheaper to just buy a replacement camera. They are ridiculously cheap. It is only Infra-red experimenters who want them these days, and most of them prefer higher resolution options. Goodness knows why they called the 4th color 'emerald,' when it is actually a kind of cyan. It has advantages in giving better blues, yellows, and greens, but has the disadvantage of producing an occasional aberration in which some highlights get a cyan or green sort of color to them. The sensor was used in two other cameras, but without the 4 color filter. It proved to be a marketing failure, because the average person didn't see enough of a color difference for it to influence buying decisions and they tended to prefer better skin tones rather than 'landscape' tones. It would have sold better with the fourth color being a light magenta, red, or orange to get the better skin tones people most wanted. A pity, because I love the colors from this sensor type. It kind of reminds me of some Fuji films back in the 1980's.
I have the same issue but only when i zoom in over 3.5x, it seems like the shutter isnt firing after that point, turn off the shutter sound effect in settings and lmk if your problem is the same

Video is 480p and pretty outdated, definitely wouldn't recommend this for streaming nowadays
