I believe you can set the focus point to infinity in video mode so that the camera won't keep auto focusing. The early 2000's digicams were the golden eras of that technology. It's still fun to own one even today, especially if you miss clicking an physical shutter button and having a zoom lens with non-software bokeh.
Yes, i did not have enouch patience.. i should have played more with it, and also make some long exposure photos in low light..
just bought this on ebay for a good price of 80 dollars. it’s included with the underwater housing, manuals, and a crap ton of batteries and memory sticks. i’m super excited! sucks that there aren’t many videos about this camera.
I guess there are too many sony cybershot models, and people don't use them any more... they are quite complex but lots of fun :) congrats on your purchase, have fun!

I remember buying this camera with my tax return from Circuit City back in 2005-2006. This was my first digital camera. I loved this thing so much. I was in my early 20s and I took this camera everywhere with me. I hated the duo stick memory card though, because it was kind of pricey. I was wondering if anyone was going to do a review on this camera since it seems as though all the old digital cameras have become popular again. Glad to see that you did a review on it.

Johny, I picked upa mint condition Sony Cybershot DSC-W150 it is the 8.1 megapixel, it had a Sony case, 2 batteries, the charger, 2 gb Memory stick and the booklet at a charity fair. for $2.00 usd. It is a great camera! I use it to do architectual inspection photos, and as grab and run camera. Great ccd sensor! Awesome shots and amazing views! Thanks for sharing!

Salut!! Ma bucur sa vad o alta persoana din Romania ce face fotografie si colectioneaza aceste aparate vechi! Eu am la colectia mea un Nikon L4, Sony T7, Sony S750 si un Sony W350. In curand vine achizitionarea unui Nikon S550 :)

I have a similar, earlier model (a smaller LCD screen), and it has the same mode dial issue, but otherwise works fine.
yes, they are built to last long, even if few people use digicams now...

P.S. Combinația de senzor Super HAD CCD și lentile CARL ZEISS VARIO-TESSAR a dus la obținerea de rezultate excelente la vremea lor. Am avut o cameră asemănătoare (cumai puțini megapixeli) și am fost uimit de rezultatele în lumină slabă (de pe trepied, bineînţeles). Tocmai de aceea și-au "permis" să implementeze un ISO maxim atât de mare (1000) comparativ cu alte camere din acea perioadă. Singurele dezavantaje "propuse" de mine la ea ar fi utilizarea unui format proprietar de card de memorie (mai rar și mai scump) și lipsa formatului de fișier RAW.
Uneori regret că nu am păstrat unele din camerele foto mai vechi deținute de mine până în prezent, măcar unele modele mai reușite pentru vremea lor.
Și apropo de SONY, camera Cyber-shot DSC R1 a fost una care m-a impresionat cu adevărat la calitatea foto.

Eu nu mi-am permis camere Sony la inceput, prin.. 2005, dar am remarcat calitatea lor in timp. Mersi mult!

I showed in the video, it needs Memory Stick Duo. And also the original battery.. you can find other battery on internet, just search by the camera model :)
hi i’ve got a few questions! is it only 10 pictures per 10 pictures? do you think it’d work with an micro sd adaptor and an sandisk micro sd 64 go? sorry to bother you i bought this camera and i don’t know if i did a good choice.
You made a good choice, the camera is very good and durable. I don't know if it works with a card adapter, maybe... but don't try to big memory cards.. get a 4Gb or smaller, you can take hundreds of puctures, no problem.. good luck!
How do you clean the lens for this camera? Because it's been a while since I use it myself
also do you know how long for the battery to charged full 100%, I'm not using universal battery tool you mentioned but I have sony battery charger BC-CSG so maybe it's different or not I don't know
Hello! A soft cloth and cleaning glass spray will do..
If the battery is very good it should charge in 5-6 hours with a universal charger.. if it's old and not used for a long time, it takes just a few minutes to an hour to charge, but it won't last long...
@@JohnyDigiCam3000 should I open/unboxing the camera parts to clean the lens or just open the close lid of the lens?
@@pandjalu6 i would not reccomend opening the camera parts.. just clean the lens when the camera is turned on, it will be perfect.

Hello! I just take out the memory card and insert in computer through a Memory Card Reader. Still... any digital camera has a transfer output on cable.. usb.. Good luck!
I have this camera. I used it a lot as a kid. Its been in a drawer for a long time since then. I recently used it. I used it twice and the shutter button popped off. I have the button. I don't know how to fix it. I'm kinda bummed out about it.
A friend of mime has the same problem with another Sony camera, the partial solution is to press the shutter button with something sharp..

Sorry, i did not mention because i thought it was obvious :)) so.. the easiest way is to take out the memory card and insert it straight into a Laptop or PC. if you dont't have a slot, you have to buy a Memory Card Reader... Oh, and that camera uses Memory Stick Pro DUO, so the card reader must support it... i hope this helps, good luck!
the other option is with a dedicated USB cable, that came in the box with the camera.. those are harder to find..

Is it better than the Cyber-Shot DSC-W710? I have the W710, but from the video this camera seems to be better than mine.

Hi Johny, can you please help me. I just got my hands on one of these and I seem to have a trouble focusing the camera, do you know how to fix this issue😭?
maybe it is changed to different focus points... you can reset the camera, or look for those autofocus points... set on center and it should work great, i hope... good luck!

I don't know but i'm almost sure that it takes adapters. Any camera works fine with any adapter.
Yes it does, I have the one that white adaptor that people use for psp, but it also work for this camera.

I don't know what could be the problem.. try a smaller memory card, different mode to start..

What size memory duo card does this camera use? Is it only compatible with a 1GB card?
No, i just had one memory card... i think that 16Gb or smaller should work, only the big ones like 64, 128, 256 Gb are too much for these older cameras...

hey! the way I print is from the laptop or PC, you have to transfer photos with a cable or SD card directly on PC, Laptop or straight into the printer..

I really don't know, i would try a 4GB, but those are hard to find... the best way is to try.. good luck!

The battery charger does not have a proper name, it says something in chinese and "charge". I couldn't find a professional one but there are some of these in the market..

how to transfer all the videos and images to my iphone or macbook
You need a card reader for "Memory Stick Pro Duo" or the original data transfer cable from Sony to USB.

the quality of my photos are terrible, i dont know if is the lens, settings or illumination
It could be anything.. the lens must be clean, and the light very strong when you take pictures with these old digicams..
