I became a fan of DBT the first time I heard "Nine Bullets" back in '99. Now eight albums and two concerts (both small clubs, the best way to see them) I am an even bigger fan. I suspect the only reason DBT is not incredibly huge is that their music falls between the cracks of country, rock and alternative programming for most radio stations...that and there doesn't seem to be a place for liberal white Southern musicians these days.
Loved em back then too!! Saw them many times at clubs in Baltimore...Oh and how’s about Steve Earle [as at least one example of a ‘liberal southern boy’] that’s done pretty good for himself. Love me some Steve Earle too!

I think Patterson Hood's use of a Les Paul Deluxe (with it's mini humbuckers) provides guitar tones reminiscent of Neil Young's. The country influence links them in style as well. I figure most who like Neil Young, will probably like DBT.

Vocals ala Neil Young, melodies ala Marshall Tucker and flat-out guitar assaults ala Lynyrd Skynyrd and Outlaws! I even detected a taste of the brother Duane Allman! It's deliciously obvious you have been paying attention to the things that matter: music that goes in the ear and straight to the soul! Although I am a gringo, I have lived in Mexico for the past 10 years. And if not for Sirius XM Radio's Outlaw Country format, I would never have known DBT even existed! But within the first few chords of "George Jones", I knew I was hooked! And I won't rest until you get your proper due on the radio; from here to Tierra del Fuego! !Muchisimo Gracias, wey!
