I love that you left that almost primordial edge on there. So often in woodturning videos, I see artists take these gorgeous, distinctive chunks of wood and lathe away all the most interesting bits. The end result is always beautiful, but so often I find myself going, "oh, but if they could've saved a hint of that one feature..." and here you have. Bravo!
Wow, I was wondering what this work would turn into the entire time and I never would have guessed it even though the title gives it away so clearly. This is such a phenomenal fusion of functionality, craftsmanship and aestheticism! Love it!
WOW! This is like The Sixth Sense of woodturning videos. The ending will shock you, and yet you realise the ending was given away early on! When I realised what it was, my jaw dropped for more than a minute and I was speechless. Bravo!!!🫡
As someone who routinely machines metal including half hard steels, wood, hard, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 What you really mean is you got the wrong grade of (cheap) expensive tools!
I have seen Manzanita turned twice before. It has very beautiful grain and color. I am awed by your talent and vision. Live edge pieces are my favorite!
Beautiful work. It reminds Brazil in the region that produces the most the best coffee in the world. Minas Gerais, with its aromas, the Serra da Canastra cheese. Your coffee mill looks wonderful on my grandfather's farm. Beautiful work that brings us wonderful memories. Congratulations!
I was amazed at the amount of wood stabiliser used on this piece. At one point I did not see how you would be able to get the wood to a point where you could apply a finish. I should never doubt your ability to get a polished result. An absolutely stunning piece of functional Art my friend. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
I’m enjoying your videos a lot! Could you maybe do an educational one where you show all the tools and machines that you use, what they are for and maybe a little on how to use them? I love learning new things and I bet I’m not the only one here that would like to know more. Or maybe you could just add some captions on what you’re doing? You are very talented and I love seeing you create these works of art!
If there is anybody on RUclips that is an artist it is you. I don’t know where you come up with all of these great ideas. Now me and other people want a coffee grinder just like yours. GREAT job!
I've such a deep new respect. I've always loved these never trialing appreciating or knowing what goes into them. I only love them more. I hope one day I can afford one. What vision. From one unique craftsman to another, handmade is best! Thanks for sharing!
Nice, I tell ya, my Grandparents had an old coffee grinder, it was nice, but not that nice. Very cool piece. And thanks for bringing back some old memories, good folks and good times.
By far, THE most original idea I've seen in woodturning to date. For most of the video, I was trying to decide what you were attempting to create. Then, I saw two bowls. Then, I saw one bowl being used as a lid for the other. Then... you punched a hole right through the top bowl. 😮 Was that a mistake? Did he screw it up? How's he going to repair that huge hole? This was an amazing creation. I loved every minute of it. The finished product....I never had a clue. I never would have guessed coffee grinder. Absolutely beautiful piece and a truly amazing concept in design. Beautifully done! 👍👏
Very nice result from a punky piece of manzanita, held together in the end by CA glue and a lot of work! I've been there, waiting for the thing to crumble into dust or fly apart.
Can you please just stop with how awesome you are?!? 😂 Great stuff! I watch one of your videos before I start my day and they truly ease me into the chaos that is my life. I appreciate you.
Indeed a stunning piece of art and practical to boot. A very elegant piece of sculpture that should last a few more years than it took to make, including wood storage.
Oh how cool is that! Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, it’s functional! You are a very talented artist! This blew my mind! Gorgeous work- that’s why I watch your videos over and over! You are awesome! Fantastic job! I love this piece!! Bravo!
That..... was bloody amazing to watch!!! When you wax and reveal the unique beauty of the wood is my favorite part. I love the utility of this piece of art I would be tempted to put it under glass just to look at!!
Man you never always turn a wonderful project. Your attention to detail is admirable. Beautiful grinder. Best use of a burl I've seen, very creative. Really fine craftsmanship !
Great piece. That live edge symbolises the grain shell and the whole coffee collecting, roasting, and grinding procedure. Looks like a pleasure to use.
While I worried during turning about what the final result would be, it was so functional and beautiful. I have to comment on the photography throughout. It was absolutely magnificent. So well shot and edited. Congratulations. Worthy of some sort of award.
EVERY time I guess where you're going, the creation goes in another totally unexpected direction. I LOVE being wrong! Great job (and I love fresh ground coffee too)! Wow!!!
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you Crete this gorgeous and stunning coffee grinder, from that piece of wood. Absolutely incredible and awesome too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I love these videos. They show a different form of art. Plus I get to learn about certain types of wood species I've never heard of before. David Adamsen, you were born with a great gift from God with those hands of yours.
I've missed your videos David. Congratulations on getting married. Once again your video proves to be the best. A combination of serious artistic talent, great woodturning skills and a flair for putting out videos that are mesmerizing.
WOW! That is SO Beautiful! I've been looking for a nice hand coffee grinder for a few years now. I'd LOVE one like that exceptional piece of Art... What a unique treasure.
What a beautiful coffee grinder! Your magnificent work enhances the beauty of the wood which was already very beautiful naturally! This is a great piece of art, and I bet the coffee was delicious!!! Thanks for sharing and congratulations for your wedding !!!
Very interesting turning. You did a great job with the punkiness of this wood. The whole thing came out great. BTW, you did a fabulous job of keeping the final result a secret. I never would have guessed until you started pouring the beans in. Well done. 👍
I forgot how beautiful manzanita is until seeing this video. Then you go one step further by making this gorgeous and functional grinder! Well done and thank you.
It's always an EVENT when David Adamsen posts a new video! I love Manzanita trees, they grow all along the coastline around here in the PNW. Love this one!
Hi David, Firstly, congratulations on your marriage. That is a beautiful coffee grinder, in fact the nicest one I have seen. Fantastic work. As regards music or no music I can take either, I just love watching you turn. Take care David. Cheers, Huw
Wow, that is beautiful. I didn’t guess till right at the end it was going to be and then it all made sense. fantastic piece of woodworking and fantastic design :-)
That is so amazing, David. The wood is beautiful and I had no idea where you were going until the end. Perfect video to watch while I'm sipping a cup of Lavazza. Take care. Bill
Absolutely amazing. I am loving this look of “live edge” on imperfect pieces of wood SO much better than standard blocks of wood. Absolutely stunning ❤️❤️❤️ OMYGOSH! A coffee grinder? Amazing
Fantastic piece, I had no idea what you were doing (especially since I am not a coffee drinker) and it is gorgeous and functional!! Nice new angles and editing on the woodturning shots, I wasn't that interested in the coffee brewing shots myself. And, I usually watch woodturning videos with the sound off, it's an auditory break for me. **Do you have a good place for me to learn about woods, glues, and finishes? I just want to learn for fun, I won't plan on getting a workshop. THANKS
Beautiful job David with a tough piece of wood …. Regarding your comment question, I don’t ever need to hear music in a woodworking video. The sounds of the trade are more than enough … thanks for the video. And congratulations on your marriage.
Absolutely brilliant! And all because you just wanted a cup of fresh ground, fresh brewed coffee! An absolutely beautiful piece of work. But please let us know that no known roasts were harmed in the making of this piece of beautiful and functional wood!
As always David another absolutely gorgeous masterpiece. When you went through the bottom I knew you were up to something. Beautiful Coffee Grinder. Just Beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing this video.
I thought the wood was punky and that the punch-through was an accident. Congrats on your wedding, David. I like hearing the sounds of the tools on the wood. Your camera works is fabulous. Enjoy the soft music that caps the video. I also appreciate the speed of your movements when showing us something. It give our eyes time to absorb what we are seeing.
That had to be tough but it turned out beautiful. I gotta get a lathe. I had a harbor freight one and it broke but I'd live to get back into it. It's relaxing turning wood I think
Absolutely beautiful! And perfect camera work with emphasis on the various tools as well as finishes used. I’ll be watching more of your illustrative work. Thanks!
Oh yeah! This was fun. Once again just a plain odd shape piece of wood, and wham, a beautiful created object comes forth. You are a craftsman. Skill and talent is not lost. Thanks so much for a beautiful piece.
Spellbound videography. When you slowed a couple times I was anticipating a train wreck. Masterful turning as always and top shelf video captures. Hot water vapor slow motion effects were great. Without speaking your video said it all.
Okay David, after you confused the hell out of me while making it, to see it completed definitely made a lot of sense! As an avid coffee drinker and Woodturner, only one word will do phenomenal! That is the most beautiful coffee making tool I have ever seen and assume that the coffee tastes just as great! Loved watching you make it, because it made you guess what it was going to turn into! Enjoy your coffee brother you deserve it!!
Thank you Stephen! It was like midnight when I was shooting the coffee making clips, and I ended up spitting out a lot of the coffee. Had to get the shots but didn’t want the caffeine. Not sure why I didn’t usr decaf.🤪
Beautiful piece of wood!! Outstanding idea and workmanship!! Most noticed, by my Photography scenes, is the wonderful job you've done in capturing the perfect video, as though your in a high end movie studio!! Great job!!
I had absolutely no clue as to what you were creating. Imagine my horror when you pierced through the bottom 🫣, but the surprise and purpose were most satisfying 👏👏👏
Not only are your pieces artistic and gorgeous, but your videos are the best out there as well. Interesting shots & closeups, nicely edited. Enjoyable to watch - I never fast forward thru your vids 😊

Thanks so much, Andrew!
The best manzanita turning I've ever seen! That stuff is so hard it really puts the cutters through their paces.
As someone who routinely machines metal including half hard steels, wood, hard, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What you really mean is you got the wrong grade of (cheap) expensive tools!
Amazing. Who knew that a wood turning video could have plot twists and a surprise ending.

It took until the end of the video before I figured out just what the heck you were making. An art quality coffee grinder! Magnificent.
Nice, I tell ya, my Grandparents had an old coffee grinder, it was nice, but not that nice. Very cool piece. And thanks for bringing back some old memories, good folks and good times.

Art pure. And it makes sens. Idea and realisation are the best I ever saw coming from a wood turner.Go on.
David my responses to your creations are usually simple. This one was "oh wow well thats just gorgeous"
Been watching your vids all day but damn that transition at 15:55 caught my brain off-guard in a wonderful sort of way.
As soon as you ground the coffee beans and then opened the grinder I thought the smell must be incredible. Beautiful work.
Wow David! What a gorgeous piece and how incredibly ingenious. It’s mesmerizing to watch the transformation.
I think its so amazing that such beautiful objects can be made out of just wood (and sometimes resin). So mesmerizing to watch!
Oh how cool is that! Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, it’s functional! You are a very talented artist! This blew my mind! Gorgeous work- that’s why I watch your videos over and over! You are awesome! Fantastic job! I love this piece!! Bravo!

Cheers Patricia! I appreciate that!
