I live in Chicago and almost always fly American for my AAdvantage miles. I totally agree with you that even if the flight time is out of normal meal times(breakfast, lunch, dinner)if you are in First Class AA needs to have an upgraded food service. Even an enhanced snack like the fruit/cheese plate or deluxe sandwich should be offered. That is very poor on their part, they are just trying to save money. And they are making money hand over fist right now. They could afford to upgrade the food service in First, even outside normal meal times.
I've flown both United First Class and American Airlines First Class. Both are about equal, but if I can't upgrade to First Class, I'll upgrade to Economy Plus. I think AA could do better on food service for first though for the more than 90 minute flights. Not sure what United First does on flights less than 2 hrs. One thing about Charlotte being a Connector for most AA flights out west is they always seem to gate on the opposite end of the airport from where I usually have to connect to.
As a 1M American Airlines flyer, I too find it irking that many flights under two hours aren’t catered with some sort of light meal service in First Class. You’ll never convince me that 16 people cannot be served a tray of light food. On Asian flights, often a FULL MEAL is served to economy passengers on flights on 1.5 hours duration. 🙄
Nanette Inman I flew first class on the a321 from fort Lauderdale to Dallas and they gave us all great meals/ lots of snacks and drinks for an hour and 45 mins flight

They don’t serve breakfast on flights that are under 90 mins or 120.
MDW is one of the best. Less congested then ORD.
