These planes are specifically for JFK-premium West Coast and are segregated from the rest of the fleet. They were excluded from the Oasis reconfiguration. But 1-1 first on a narrowbody is unheard of elsewhere. The international J behind it is 2-2.
Sad to see pre COVID service still hasn’t returned. I’ve flown this service to and from SFO many times over. You should’ve received warm nuts with a choice of drink, then an appetizer and salad, followed by another drink service, then your entree and fresh bread basket, another drink service, then dessert and or cheese plate, followed by coffee/espresso service and after dinner drinks. The snack basket is then placed upfront. Mid flight you should’ve received an offering from the basket and a warm cookie. Prior to landing sparkling water and citrus garnish. Looks like you received an express version of service. Usually a full tray like that was served on red eye flights.

I've been on that flight... but way in the back. It's insane how such a small plane offers four classes of service. The economy cabin was hilariously small, and even pre-covid they did not offer so much as a bag of pretzels
It is only 102 seats. 1-1 F, 2-2 J, and 3-3 Y. I believe 10-20-72. If you want another case of hilariously small Y, check United’s 167-seat 767s…they have 46 international style J seats, 22 premium economy, 47 economy plus on the outside, and 52 economy on the center.

My daughter and I have done this flight more than a few times. By far our best was a red eye LAX to JFK, spending the whole day in NYC and hoping on the overnight JFK to SFO, sleeping the whole way, showering in the minute suite and enjoying San Fran before returning home. Spending no money on food or hotels! Being a non-rev has its perks!! Yes, the food is the same in first and Business class. You receive 2 extra plates in first makes it seem more substantial (to some).
8:40 A pass for wifi included with purchase of a Flagship first class ticket is NOT asking too much, in my opinion. At $2,535 for Flagship, versus $703 for business class (or $1173 for Flagship business, $1308 for non-Flagship first), there is no excuse for charging the top tier customer for something everyone accesses for free at Starbucks or McDonald's.
Precisely. It is a slap in the face. That's like telling the Flagship customer that beer and wine are complimentary, but a champagne, a Woodford or a Jack Daniel's will be $12 extra. (Hope this notion doesn't come to AA's attention, though I think charging for those is already the practice in Admirals Clubs.) I am considering planning an itinerary later this year LAX - JFK, returning JFK - LAX, then LAX - MIA, all in Flagship First, all 3 departures on the same calendar day. I'm not an experienced video maker, but I might also try to make a video of the experience and post it. The big questions are, should I spring for the wifi, and will it cover all three flights?
I’m a retired AA captain - AA does a good job and thus is a nice video on that - AA also does /did nice job on long haul biz/first to Asia , Australia - they are recovering and reinstating these routes
It would be an amazing experience to fly in any First class of this sorts. As a lifelong aviation geek, born in an Airforce town watching all the jets and never taking my eye off the sky since. But at $5,000 a ticket for this flight, I doubt it will ever happen.
Just keep traveling and keep using the same airline with your loyalty account eventually you’re bound to have enough points for one first class roundtrip
Nice take on American's top offering Jeb, seems like you are almost becoming a fan of your previously most hated airline ;). @@a.k.6154 that’s very debatable. Delta one seats and United Polaris seats are better in my opinion. United flys the 787-10, 777-300ER, and 767-300ER with the new Polaris seats on routes from EWR/JFK to LAX/SFO. Delta flys the 767-400ER and A330-900NEO with the new DeltaOne suites from JFK-LAX.
We recently took AA to Athens, Greece non-stop. We paid for the Premium Economy and the kit is the same as well as the food is presented in the same manner. We were offered a pre-flight drink. Before COVID (2019): Flagship first had different entree choices, an additional soup course, multiple dessert choices, and different/enhanced wine list. Currently (Early 2021): Flagship first shares the same food and wine menu as business. The difference is you get a dedicated purser, plus the direct aisle access. The pre-departure beverage is not the norm. Also, the B&O headsets are awesome! The drawback is they do collect them 45 minutes before landing, but they let you have them longer in Flagship First. Additionally, AA's IFE is quirky. Instead of looping to the music playlist you selected, it would jump to the next playlist. Hence why I woke up to heavy metal music .

5:30 As far as I can tell they're a DIN-9 pin plug, used for the EmPower 15V DC charging system, and people could get adaptors to use the plugs for their laptops. But with the normal sockets provided these days like the universal plug in the shot before that one, I don't think anyone uses EmPower plugs anymore! (I initially thought it was a PS/2 keyboard connector; it has the same shape, but PS/2 has less pins and it would be a bit strange getting your own whole keyboard out!)
Yes the food in First is the same as in Business, because I was literally just ordering my business class meal for Tuesday and it's the same options haha
I spent a few dollars extra this past month to fly Delta with a stop in SLC than nonstop on American and I’m glad I did. There’s just nothing pleasurable about flying on AA anymore.

Hi Jeb, Nice video, I like it. The Adapter which you do not know is an very old (70's until 90's) headphonejack used by exclusive brands as B&O and Telefunke. However they where used bij only a few brands. I am amazed to see it on an American plane. Because these jacks where mainly used here in Europe. Especially Scandinavian countries, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Austria and Switzerland and not in many other countries. Not even in the UK. And they where mainly used on high-end stereo-equipment. Hope I cleared that up for you.
Jeb, your great storytelling skills really put the finishing touches on your videos. One of the ways my wife tolerates my Aviation Geek hobby is by watching aviation videos with me on RUclips. She likes yours the best and never complains when yours come on. I apologize though. Today I realized I wasn't subscribed to your channel. I certainly thought I was. Anyway, it has since been rectified. Please keep them coming Jeb!
That’s so nice! Please tell her I said thanks! And thank YOU for being number 250,000. (To be fair, I have no way of knowing who was the 250,000th subscriber, but I like the idea of it being you! 😀)
I much prefer a wide body for a transcon. The A321 is far too cramped. The worst is jetblue, with their seats facing away from the windows, so you stare at other people for the entire flight. Wouldn't pay a dime for that.
Took the same iron LAX - JFK - SNA last month. Same experience with the lounge on both flights, better experience with IFE, but while the compartment was comfortable once inside, to get my 5'8 165' body with size 8.5 shoe between my seat and the one in front required the flexibility of a Cirque de soleil performer. I got the impression the seats were designed for a different craft, and forced into the 321. Will compare with Delta on the same route next month.
I just popped across the Atlantic on AA46 from DFW to MAD. Took the same flight from Madrid a few months earlier. Those seats are a very sexy innovation on the International version. I have to say they do a damned good job and the minute you’re on the aircraft you feel like you’re home. I have to say that the food was OFF THE HOOK and some of the best I’ve had. You made me smile with the “before times” comment. So accurate. Just found your videos and I’m really excited to follow your journeys! BTW I had the Short rib on a flight too. Was a little different configuration but yummsville.
AA did bring back the full Flagship Lounge, as well Flagship First Dinning. I did experience Flagship First, a couple of weeks ago, on an international departure and it is back to what it once was. The only loss is the magazines and there is still a mask mandate. Otherwise, all is back to what it once was. They did a refresh on the food offerings and it is, in my opinion, a bit better than it was in the pre-pandemic offerings. Also, I was greeted, at the front, with a glass of Champaign, as a welcome back gesture.
AA just brought back flagship first/business at beginning of Nov but only in our premium markets…. 3 class traanscons, long haul international & Hawaiian flagship. Changes expected for rest of the flying after the new year.
United Polaris (when it was actually running) is pretty close. Hopefully when things are "normal" again they'll put a bit of pressure on AA. The rest of AA's fleet is worn and tired and there's really no reason to fly them other than schedule or price.
United flies 777's and 767's on trans con flights, which are far superior to a cramped A321 on a six hour flight. The catering and lounges are also better than American's
Jeb, I flew flagship business MIA-LAX in July, the way your meal was served looked exactly the same to the way mine was served. No PBD though, I can't wait to have one of those again. Maybe I'll get one when my wife and I fly QSuites in October. As always, love the videos and maybe I'll run into you at GSO or CLT since I live in Salisbury, NC!
I am a MVP 75K on Alaska, and a Diamond with Delta. The lounges at LAX for both are getting better food lately. Especially with this Covid stuff. But with the Delta Variant, I worry they are going to scale back again. If you get a chance to try the Alaska lounge, I highly recommend the Bloody Mary, with a dash of horseradish. I swear they make the best Bloody Marys ever! Happy flying!
Glad to hear some of the amenities of first class are returning! I do think the IFE's on American are a bit weak. I usually just use it to watch the flight info and our location and just use my iPad with all the movies I want to watch already loaded on it. Then every time they make an announcement it doesn't interrupt my show! I would love to see this configuration on more domestic routes! Hey American! If you are watching! DFW to Vegas please!!
Around this time this video was posted I was in Hawaii. I flew with American the whole way and back. It was great going there, but so many delays coming back. We actually rented a car to drive home when we were close enough. My friends are saying that they'll never fly with American again; however I feel like we just caught them on a bad day and will fly with them once more
Another excellent video Jeb. Thank you for the way you construct your trip reports....they are logical, focused, meaningful and useful for us non-regular flyers to consider. Also, the fact that you show clips of the food selection rather than showing you shoveling food down your gob (mouth) is very classy. :-)
Jeb just a few words to congratulate you for your engagement. You seem to be on cloud nine. There's a special glimmery in your eyes and a spring step in your tone of voice. You seem to be definitely in cloud "Nine" and I am happy for you. It couldn't happen to a better guy. All the best and thank you for your always very professional work.
Thank you for another really well done and as always pleasant video. I really have enjoyed your Amtrak reviews as well. I am in Saigon now under covid lockdown and so this is about the best and only way for me to travel. But as I am really happy in Vietnam it will be this way till Vietnam re-opens its borders for at least a year without issue. I grew up in New York and a trip to JFK or rather Idlewild as it was called when I was a boy was always exciting. Later I used to go there to watch the Concords take off and you could really feel the afterburners in your chest as they lifted up. I also enjoyed seeing the ever so cool looking IL62s that Aeroflot used on the Moscow route. I would later fly one to Moscow in the waning days of the Soviet Union. Anyway... thank you again and safe travels!
I think that the comment on the food is still true! I flew from LAX to MIA in flagship business in May and had the EXACT same meal presented the same way. The different presentation in First is probably due to covid. Worth noting the headphones, snacks, bedding, seat, and lounge access were all also the exact same in flagship business (given that it was on a 777). Only differences I noticed were that business received an APL amenity kit and no PDB. Mint is the way to go but this still beats Delta One right now!
Congrats on 250K Jeb! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I love your videos Jeb!!! 20 year B6 FA here!!!
I much prefer a wide body for a transcon. The A321 is far too cramped. The worst is jetblue, with their seats facing away from the windows, so you stare at other people for the entire flight. Wouldn't pay a dime for that.
Beautiful great boss lovely .I love American airlines .frome Pakistan
Took the same iron LAX - JFK - SNA last month. Same experience with the lounge on both flights, better experience with IFE, but while the compartment was comfortable once inside, to get my 5'8 165' body with size 8.5 shoe between my seat and the one in front required the flexibility of a Cirque de soleil performer. I got the impression the seats were designed for a different craft, and forced into the 321. Will compare with Delta on the same route next month.
Super informative vid as usual for Jeb!
The admirals club breakfast options where amazing, including bagels, a toasting machine, different types of eggs, etc.
"Gin, tonic and please." Gold Star to Jeb! I cannot wait to be on board and say those very words!
250k is amazing. Congrats
"Lie flat," not "lay flat." Love the channel.
Finally the wait is over👏🏻👏🏻
Congrats for 250k
United Polaris (when it was actually running) is pretty close. Hopefully when things are "normal" again they'll put a bit of pressure on AA. The rest of AA's fleet is worn and tired and there's really no reason to fly them other than schedule or price.
United flies 777's and 767's on trans con flights, which are far superior to a cramped A321 on a six hour flight. The catering and lounges are also better than American's
Thats a fact
@@chriscolumbianmsm1 thats a fact. I just switched to united for some flights instead of AA
Except if you fly out of JFK, UA isnt offering much service.
I miss the first class cabin on the L1011 back in the late 90s. Great memories flying nonstop Atlanta to Hawaii 🙂
You should do a video of your watch collection!
He could have another channel all its own just for watches. Love the Pepsi with the meteorite dial!
Hey Jeb, instead of saying, "before times" - say, "BC" as in "Before COVID".
love me some PDB... it's one of those simple little pleasures...
Thank you for sharing.
Great video -Thank you
Congrats on 250k subs I’m subbed!
I've slept on a flat bed on the smallest of single aisle Airbus series - A318 on the BA London City - JFK service. Great fun experience.
Around this time this video was posted I was in Hawaii. I flew with American the whole way and back. It was great going there, but so many delays coming back. We actually rented a car to drive home when we were close enough. My friends are saying that they'll never fly with American again; however I feel like we just caught them on a bad day and will fly with them once more
11:08 then yet again 30 min before landing my eyes are glued to the window
Great Video
Dang man~ you living a life! cool video! i just had my second first class with korean air and it was fantastic too! great video!!
That AP Royal Oak Dual Time!!!
Those pre departure beverages hit different 🤤
american airlines in my own opinion is amazing
Great video Jeb. Many congrats on 250K! 👍
Bit late but well done for 250k!!!
Another excellent video Jeb. Thank you for the way you construct your trip reports....they are logical, focused, meaningful and useful for us non-regular flyers to consider. Also, the fact that you show clips of the food selection rather than showing you shoveling food down your gob (mouth) is very classy. :-)
Love this video
Jeb just a few words to congratulate you for your engagement. You seem to be on cloud nine. There's a special glimmery in your eyes and a spring step in your tone of voice. You seem to be definitely in cloud "Nine" and I am happy for you. It couldn't happen to a better guy. All the best and thank you for your always very professional work.
1 x 1 seating is great. I would have picked the same meal.
IFE does need work. Great job Jeb !!!
Jeb I missed you by 2 weeks, just got up to Southcentral Alaska this week. Hope to meet you someday! Great video as always!
Finally you’re been recognized , 250k!! Great analogy as always, keep up the good work.
Stay Healthy!
Like for the video, greetings from Montenegro!
Maybe one day from New York or some other city in the USA, you will come to Montenegro and make a video from that trip! Not a bad idea?
loved you used "as a result" it brings me back to cause and effect
Your videos are inspiring, now I need to travel🛫🛫🛫
And another awesome watch from Jeb
I think that the comment on the food is still true! I flew from LAX to MIA in flagship business in May and had the EXACT same meal presented the same way. The different presentation in First is probably due to covid. Worth noting the headphones, snacks, bedding, seat, and lounge access were all also the exact same in flagship business (given that it was on a 777). Only differences I noticed were that business received an APL amenity kit and no PDB. Mint is the way to go but this still beats Delta One right now!
5F is the usual seat I occupy on this route too lol. Guess i'm glad to say that i have shared seats with Jeb? lol
Hi Jeb. A refurbishment of the a321T is long overdue. . . . . Oh no not Oasis 😂
I hope i travel again next year as los angles on my list :) enjoy your trip :) keep safe 🙂🙃🏴
Congrats on 250,000 subs btw!
Premium economy amenity kit, ngl! I had it on the pandemic extinct LAX-GRU route
I had no idea true first class existed in domestic flights. I've never flown American, but I may be looking for them now!
Woah Jeb that Royal Oak is incredible!! We need a collection video! Great work on this video as always :)
Saw that and came to search the comments to make sure some one posted this already haha
