I think people hit dislike for kicks. This guy is a might fine player and I would look up to guys like this being a guitarist myself. Google should get rid of that ‘like-dislike’ malarkey as the comments will reveal the truth from people who appreciate the content. There’s a lot of retarded people in the world hiding behind PCs so what the hell do they know about art? I’m kinda glad they dislike it in fact as they’re afraid of good ol country pickin’ and have to deal with it! Go on disliking if you like but question your thinking. Maybe you came for something else here and disliked the mans talent out of jealousy and fear as he’s brilliant enough to teach and you’re too weak to learn!

Never been a fan of Country, or so I thought. This feller here has changed that in a HUGE way. As a hack Guitarist for 40 + years I have recently on my old age kind of dedicated myself to actually practicing and working on chops and how can you as a Guitarist not like and appreciate Brent Mason. I am honored and blessed that he takes the time to share his talent and wisdom in these demonstrations and lessons. He is amazing, and very patient and his teaching and well explained method and application is so easily comprehensive where even a Spaz like myself can grasp this. Thank You Mr. Mason. You're making a difference and a true Country Gentleman. Bless you all.

@@Hugh_ManiteeIsn't it amazing how linked they all are,...Drastically different amp settings...But different timing and different phrasing of the same notes is what I found to be soo surprising.
It is fascinating to me, even after over 40 years of playing, just how much changing shapes of the same intervals forces different phrasing and suddenly, you are born again with a new sound.

This guy is fantastic and no one should have hit the dislike button. But I'm not a musician and my ears suck, so if anyone would be so kind to tab this out, I'd be eternally grateful. I can read a tab usually the first time out and get close. I'd have to rewind this video for maybe weeks to get it. For untalented people like myself, tabs allow us to fake it and keeps us too busy to riot. I wish I had a musician's talent, but for us just plain folk, a tab is a wonderful thing. I don't think you could ever get good being a tab player, but some of us just want to try and get close to sounding like that wonderful sound that we heard.

What an absolute privilege and honor to be able to learn from the best with audio visual and instruction. OMG. I started on this trek over 50 yrs ago when we'd ruin needles trying to copy licks off a record player. On top of everything else he seems like a good guy, not some self important a-hole. (I could name a few) He doesn't have to do this; I wouldn't think he needs the money to make the rent. Would be the honor of a lifetime to sit in with him.

This has got to be some of Brent Masons best licks here. Come to think of it does he have any bad licks? I have never approached bending like he does here with the1st and 2nd fingers. I've always used the 3rd finger and one finger.
Used to it would have taken me months and months to learn something like this but I learned the part he taught in this vid and committed to memory last night in about 30 minutes. Now I just have to get up to speed. I love the triplet's, I'm gonna try and figure the end that he left out of the lesson.
I already use a lot of double stops in my playing, 3rd note, 5th and 6th note double stops but have never chromatically walked down to the 7th of a chord like that using a 6th note double stop chord, very cool. Also I use lots of bending.
I've been practicing Brent Masons licks ever since 1994 When Married to a waitress by Alan Jackson hit the radio. I can't believe its been twenty one years now. Brent Mason and Albert Lee have influenced my playing the most.
I can't help but feel like I'd be a whole lot better if I had had the opportunity to play with some super musicians like them.

I think around $4.00..It was on android play store. I would think they have it on the 🍎 store. Irk. Probably 15 years. Ago.. I had a pro teaching me songs like this.
I was having problems with a certain part..put the guitar down..went sleep. Woke up..and played the difficult part with ease. Something about our mind..it knows we would like to have master something and it does. Be encouraged ..just do the best you can.

I happened to be on Guitar Jams all styles..I had done some improv awhile back..a few mistakes here and there. I found this country jam here. I was trying to figure out the licks..close but not real success.
I was fairly sure it was a Brent Mason jam play or at least his style. I went to Jam play..I have no affiliation with Jam play. I see that Brent Mason teaches there. They have a lot of good material there. Many pros too. Back in the early 90s ..learned a number of chicken Picken' leads. Anyways..I noticed that he gave the notes. That really helps. Note.. I paid for the jams track app for a year. It has been well worth it. I will be using it more. I have been concentrating on piano for the last few yew years ..mainly improv. Enjoy playing..not a pro..just enjoy various instruments.

great video. i really miss the tele though. the fact that pedal-steel type double stop bends are impossible to keep perfectly in tune on tremolo-equipped guitars always bugs me. (especially on my Strat-style or similar guitars. yes, i've tried the Tremsetter, but it really changes the feel.) i just love the stability and purity of tone on a tele for this type of playing. (i miss Albert Lee playing the old tele too!) regardless, these guys are a couple of my heroes.
