I'm taking one of my favorite Brent Mason licks and seeing it as a source of inspiration. Rather than playing his lick over and over again I can use a device called chord tone sequencing to get new ideas and help develop my own voice on the instrument. Try this with your favorite country licks or try it with any of the licks I cover in 20 Must Know Country Guitar Licks linked above

Up to My Ears in Tears is a great one
great lesson/thought exercise.
thank you much 🌟
Thanks for sharing this, Jason!
One of my favorite leads is the one he did on the Alan Jackson tune, “married to a waitress “.
Thanks for all this stuff you are giving away. I appreciate it.
That was fun. Thanks JL!
Too many favorite Mason licks to count. This lesson is great, thank you this approach is really inspiring and really helpful for understanding the original lick
Glad to hear it
My thoughts exactly. Jason‘s lessons are just so inspiring, no matter what lick or song he’s teaching us. Super Thanks 🙏
I subbed as soon as I saw that you are the most practical guitar teacher I've seen. It's like you put training wheels on the fretboard.
Thanks
I'll be a while making this my own, but thanks for sharing it!
Great ideas thanks
So...the thing I love about Brent's playing is the runs he uses to connect the licks. Which would be a much appreciated master class! Just sayin 🤠
I doubt I would teach something like that. This channel is more about cultivating creativity rather than mimicking. This is why you rarely see me teach someone else's solo. I can tell you that the way he connects ideas is the way we all do. I cover a lot of those devices in my mastering double stops and mastering flatpicking courses.
Did he do the solo on “Neon Moon”? Kind of an un-Brent solo. Also like the “Hot Wired” album a LOT.
Yes he did the solo on neon moon.
Thanks for sharing. Very useful lesson 😎
Thanks
what if that pickup you're using?
