    Clapton is great! Specially his 60s stuff. The tragedy about his greatness is that the players he "stole" from are never considered. To quote Buddy Guy, or rather paraphrase, "when Clapton plays a Muddy Waters tune everybody says it's a classic. But nobody plays or talks about Muddy Waters". I started on Clapton and as I started going back and checking his influences, I was shocked to see they are not just influences but straight lifted sometimes. To the point you think it's Clapton playing except it isn't and it's older than him.

    New five licks! Thank you! I think it will work well to put out series like this, 5 licks in style of... There are many out there but majority are very overwhelming with lots of bla-bla-bla and pretty long, short videos work best for me, that's why I love lick fridays :D

    Clapton is a hot rod enthusiast and he will kick your ass at foosball.
    He is also a very honest and open human being there is a very strong connection between his hands and his heart. He plays guitar. Jesus was a carpenter.

    The world is and has been, full of good guitar players for a long time. Just think about people like Matteo Mancuso, Joe Satriani, Tommy Emmanuel, Guthrie
    Govan, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alex Lifeson, Mark Knopfler and Jeff Beck. I have never understood the fascination for the «stuck to pentatonic boring»Clapton. I am a mediocre guitar player myself, I will not claim that I’m better than Clapton, but this guy hasn’t convinced me that he is more than a mediocre guitar player who has not developed his skills or style any further since the late 60’s. He is very limited within the pentatonic dull style. He made one really great solo for The Beatles back in the day, and Cream was a great band. That’s all to it. Boring artist.

    • @DannyPage
      @DannyPage  24 дня назад

      Have a listen to the solo on Richie Sambora’s Mr Bluesman. That is one of Clapton best solos imo. The pentatonic only seems boring to those who can make it sound interesting. It has so much to offer, and also rightly so will have its critics too. You are correct saying Clapton hasn’t changed since the 60’s but why would he? He has a formula that speaks to millions of listeners and for Clapton to even try and change it would change the Clapton sound. Leave that to another guitarist to fill that void. Want a different sound, listen to a different guitarist. You listed great guitar players, they all do their thing. If you listen to that artist song by song you will notice a formula that works for them. Personally, claptons earlier stuff was great but seems to have mellowed on studio recordings. Cheers..

      @@DannyPage I’m a bit sorry about this. I did not mean to offend anyone. I just think that Clapton is somewhere about
      my own level. ( I’ m bored with my own skills.) Saying that: ironically, maybe I’m too influenced by people like Clapton. (I have to admit that he has done his impact on me. Maybe I should be thankfull, though I think that his music is boring) I have to admit that are so many great musicians around, and to forget that someone helped them forward.
