As someone who has done a ton of Clapton transcriptions, It's very gratifying to come across a "Clapton Licks" video that actual demonstrates an in depth knowledge of the man's style. (Suffice to say there is so much garbage out there). These were very well chosen-phrases that work really well as an introduction for someone looking for a place to start. Top-Notch.
I have heard some amazing solos played by Eric while playing “Old Love” live. He just cooks on this song and continues to build with each one. You really have a lot of the technique down cold and have captured a lot of the nuance of his playing as well. Your execution is very good and I enjoyed this a lot. I will come back often! Thanks for doing this!
i enjoy how you gave the string names and fret numbers for the 1st part of the riff. then changed to note names for the trill. it made it so easy to follow. because we all know the notes. and if we dont. we can take the time to translate them. lessons are better that way
I started listening to Clapton because I was hanging around Brizio's Speed Shop in South City. I enjoy his music. The more I listen to him as a man the more I like him as a person. Thanks Eric
What a great lesson, especially for the intermediate player starting to move around the neck. You’ve really captured the essence of Clapton’s style which I’ve always recognised but never understood how to get inside it - fabulous, thank you for sharing.
Best lesson ever. I needed something to help me be more motivated to be fluent in all 5 positions and understand them better. Your channel is a life saver. Thank you.
Wow. Only been listening to Clapton since ‘67 and trying to cop his licks since ‘70 and you’ve just dropped a couple more valuable pieces in the puzzle. Thank you, it’s so much fun!
Thank you so much!!!! I have been a huge Clapton fan for years, and thought I had a handle on his playing style, but you made me reconsider the D and E box and how he uses them, and it really filled in a huge swiss cheese hole in my understanding. I really appreciate this well done video! Thanks.
@@JameyArent You are welcome ;-) I've just added myself to your subscribers list and it would be great if you'd check out my YT channel too... Rock on an have a great day Jamey!
Nice, informative, video. These building blocks, courtesy of Eric, are just so fundamental to getting that classic modern blues sound. Thank you. But I have to say: the video would be *much* improved a lot by making tabs available to download.

That first lick…oh yeah…I,love that partial bend towards the major third on the first string. Awesome.

Definitely one of the best channels on Utoob.... I wish I had this 30 years ago
I think this tutorial is the best of Clapton's style licks!
Fantastic stuff! Great to see licks outside the root position :)
One of my fav jam songs. Clapton’s touch on this song is phenomenal.
Great forensic drilling down on EC's style, he built the road everyone walks on.
I love that he says the name of the note instead of the fret number. Much easier to follow!
Best riffing lesson ive seen....great stuff. Thanks
Thanks!

Amazing stuff thanks man 🙏🏼

Great work. Having long fingers really helps doesn't it. I have short fingers and I can play these riffs but I have to work a little harder to do so.
Good stuff
I got to nail down the 5 positions. I'm really only comfortable with 3 of them currently.
great lesson! I find you very easy to follow and calling out the names of the notes as you´re playing the licks is a huge plus! many thanks
