Just put your frame together man. It was super simple, as long as you follow a combination of your vid and the directions, but don't rely on just the directions. The M3x25mm stack screws fit, they're close, maybe about 2mm from the top plate, but they do work. Might've been the deltas between your prototype and what was sent in the box, but they're good brother. Great job. Have a new field shirt, cool stickers, sweet props, and needed tool as well.
Never mind. The x-plate was floating, which made it appear that the 25mm screws were good. Still a great frame and look forward to getting it in the air.

What for? Keychain fob :) I printed a TPU one of the TinyTrainer frame at 1/2 scale yesterday, but the design is so accurate I don't think I can release the STL.

Those tiny cheese wedges are genius from a manufacturing standpoint. There's always so much unused carbon on each sheet between the arms. The arms have to run parallel to the fibers, and the motor end and the big Y-end probably keeps Lumineer from getting the arms really close together on the plate. Aside from wear on the cutter, the cheese wedges are probably free! Please tell Ryan that I said he did a good job!

awesome crate and awesome looking frame but I am missing quite a bit of screws. All good since I have spare from other builds but hope this gets checked out.
If you're missing screws that should be there please let GetFPV know. You can check the product listing on the website for the screws that are supposed to be available in the frame. If the factory made packaging errors they will definitely want to know.
Why didnt you go with the FPVCycle kind of way to mount the batterystraps where you don´t need a batterypad, the straps act like one. Saves weight and the straps are locked...
I dislike having the straps locked into the frame, it makes it a royal pain if you need to change out a strap, and it tends to add easily breakable sections to the top plates. It does save a bit of weight, but if you're concerned about weight you can use a light weight foam pad or even no pad, as this frame has the rear screws countersunk below the carbon. Should be fine if you use two straps, which I always do anyway.
The frame looks solid but I'm puzzled how to mount DJI Air unit to it. The rear stand offs interfere with the antenna plugs. If i remove them then the battery will put too much stress on middle stand offs.
Awesome frame! I have the qav-s from the earlier box and that one flies so nice! Cant wait to put this frame to use. I like that the one piece top plate gets rid of that center stand-off that made wiring kind of a pain! good work JB!
Wish the pick for your favorite drone was before it was a jb edition. Would seem more organic if you picked it even with some of its down falls you fixed. Are you selling out? :)
Also, is the only difference between the QAV-S Freestyle 5" arm and the QAV-S 5" Joshua Bardwell SE arm the carbon that has been removed between the two hex holes? Will they fit interchangeably?
Yes we will have the horned arms available for order very soon as well. You can find them here once they're available www.getfpv.com/multi-rotor-frames/lumenier-frames/qav-s-joshua-bardwell-special-edition.html
@@JoshuaBardwell looks awesome, would love this as my first quad frame to build..my birthday is coming up on the 18th, I might treat myself, love the purple stand offs, Well Done 👍💯
Something in the beginning of the video made me think, is there any specific reason for most of the weight to be situated above the motor plates? Wouldn't it be better to have the greatest weight below the motors and props? IE hanging the battery underneath. Just in my head.
Imo it's a high dollar tbs source 1 frame that's $26 vs $70 as long as JB is getting the difference I am good with that but wow what a difference for practically the same frame very minimal changes.
The S1 is cheap because its development was open source, so it didn't cost anything to develop. You're basically paying for the carbon and the machine time to cut it and not much more. The QAV-S is more expensive because it costs time to develop and provide after-sale support. You can always decide for yourself if that's something you value enough to pay for.
Great stuff men.and i just finish the build came out really nice and is going to be my first 6S ow since is going to be my first 6S i was thinking on get me one 6S and one 5S batteries and start with 5S ? what u guys think?
How would you change the Shocker Tank? I don't believe your review & their heavy motor config of it really did it any justice. EDIT: At 125g with lighter screws its only ~10g heavier and honestly on a high powered 5" using properly sized freestyle 2207 motors with an air unit that weight seems rather negligible. Its certainly a great upgrade of the old 5" bang god which was 142g. The rotor disks are much higher than the battery deck as well which means battery sits more level to your disks.
The Shocker Tank is a great frame--let's just get that out of the way. The build that I reviewed was made by Catalyst and sent for review, so if it was heavy, it was heavy because they made it that way. The tank lists as weighing about 130g. That's about 15g heavier than the QAV-S. In my opinion, that's a big difference in terms of frame weight, because frame weight is one of the few places you can really shave weight on a build. You're right that you would never notice 15g of additional weight on a build. But to save 40 or 50 grams, you have to shave weight where you can, and shaving 15g from the frame is a huge chunk of that. After you shave 10-15g in two or three places, you basically have nothing left except a battle of inches, saving 2 or 3 grams in a lot of places, which is challenging. That being said, it's a great frame and I basically agree with you that it wasn't best represented when CMW shipped it in an ultra heavy configuration. But that's how they shipped it and that's how I reviewed it.
@@JoshuaBardwell Cheers man, very detailed. I am curious what they could actually shave off the tank while maintaining its ridiculous build durability that it has. Indeed it was a very heavy motor build how they shipped it. Sorry for comparing with a completely different class of frame but since building one I was totally hooked. I hope someday they will revisit it with a more practical motor config. Take care.
Hey JB, can you help me out? I bought a DJI FPV and love it. I’m wrecked it having too much fun. Insurance rushed a new one but I want to build one that will work with the goggles and controller if possible. General recommendations? Do I need to buy a new RC? Thanks in advance :) links are welcome
The controller only works with the DJI FPV Drone, unfortunately. It might work with the air unit in the future based on firmware upgrades, but there's not much likelihood of that. I'd look at a radio like the Radiomaster TX16s. Great for the price and will work with pretty much everything you can buy. My guess is if you wait a few months there will be a bind and fly version of this frame available, if not there's already some bind and fly versions of the stock QAV-S and the JohnnyFPV edition, they're both fantastic.
I’m really feeling this frame, tho I have the original something about this one just sits right. When can we expect the horned arms?? Also the manual (thanks for including) mentions “customized arm skid” will there be a specific set of skids for your build?
mine was missing screws, but had loads of other ones that you couldn’t actually use on the frame. And an air unit only fits in it without antennas fitted, with no way of making it work without direct soldering the antennas. 😢
So excited for this to be my first build! Any insight as to what the other components you will be using for your build? Would like to order them and build along with you for the build video.
You did a video on the QAV-S mini 4'' and im still waiting on parts from getFPV.... i dont think i want to get another QAV product for quite some time.
Nice work JB! Well thought out and full of useful details. One question tho: any plans to make a HD version of it for us who want to fly digital w/o a gopro? Looks like we’re gonna have to stick with the caddx air unit micro for a while…really looking forward to an hd frame with better weight distribution ie less tail-heavy!
The JohnnyFPV frame is specifically designed to work with the Air Unit, and it's as close as it can be to the main stack and still fit. Might still be a tad tail heavy without a GoPro out front, but shouldn't be too bad.

Take care.
The new Xing2 2207 happen to make this frame ridiculously poppy.
I need horns good job J-B glad to see you got Wicked cool frame👊👊😎🤙
The skids are on Thingiverse with, the other 3d printed parts.
Thanks for sharing, still waiting for mine
mine was missing screws, but had loads of other ones that you couldn’t actually use on the frame.
And an air unit only fits in it without antennas fitted, with no way of making it work without direct soldering the antennas. 😢
Can I convert it to the Johnny fpv version?
You made an already perfect frame an awesome piece of art. Well done 👍
That purple looks good
So excited for this to be my first build! Any insight as to what the other components you will be using for your build? Would like to order them and build along with you for the build video.
what hardware is everybody going with or suggesting? I normally go mamba 405 stack and eco2 motors but I want to move away from budget builds.
Id say to stick with the eco2 motors but to go with a 32bit esc and f7 flight controller
@@jackdowns6122 maybe get I'll get the JB f7 stack ?
@@geterdnboy Its a pretty reliable stack I think. Ive never used it though, Ive been using the lumenier mini razor pro
That book was my favorite part 💯🙌
What do you think about the new Gemfan F3 & F4 props? I don't even want to try them I just want to buy the new 5.2@ inch Roogi DNA props lol
Is it a truex?
HI Joshua you ruin my surprise but I'm very excite to be getting the JB frame. cant wait
I see the QAV-S JB on GetFPV, but I don't see the "box" edition... I NEED the shirt! :)
is this frame better than the moongoat? I was about to buy the moon goat , if it’s better why ?
You did a video on the QAV-S mini 4'' and im still waiting on parts from getFPV.... i dont think i want to get another QAV product for quite some time.
Beautiful JB congratulations.
I have the exact pair tweezers you have! Got them at hobby lobby
like that frame, but would prefer the none-horn-arm-version... nice work!
Stock frame comes with "normal" arms, not the horned. So you are good to go!
@@surf1punk ordered this morning ;) i'll give it a try.
Hey @Joshua Bardwell thats a really cool shirt you got. Im gonna start wearing your fpv cool shirts in public. Hopefully it will help find people out there that are in the hobby start conversations an stuff.
