The one dude recognized robocop not from his mouth, it's because he said "Dead or alive you're coming with me." Which is the very first thing Murphy said to him.
Are you really a Hasselblad???
@@Falzeee lol, yes I am. May I ask why?
@@davidhasselblad2898 I have many of your cameras, maybe we can do a private deal?
I thought this might be the case. However the native Norsemen that were the Hazelclan we're many. So I am not directly related hundreds of years later with the modern Hasselblad cameras you are associating my name with sadly. Sorry fren.
@@davidhasselblad2898 That's too bad. You sound very intelligent, I hope you didn't fall for the fear campaign and listened to criminals. That's the big decider!
This movie hits on multiple levels. It's a dark and sarcastic social satire. It's a brutal cyberpunk drama. It's a gory action comedy. It can make you cry for Murphy's lost humanity and laugh at Boddicker's ruthless sense of humor. I'll never forget the first time I watched Robocop.
It's low-key brilliant, disguised as good fun
“It tastes like baby food.”
“It look like baby sh*t.” 😂
🤣🤣 I’m glad you enjoyed
One reason this movie is incredible is its high level satire of corporatocracies. Its criticism of the military industrial complex, corporate welfare, gentrification, heartless and psychopathic business values, commercialism, consumerism, propaganda, etc. Robocop is one of my top five favorite movies for several reasons.
NAILED IT! Me too! Saw this in theaters when i was 9 & it confirmed my questions about our society. Probably why they don’t make films like this anymore.
Yessir "Your coming with me. Alive or dead."
@@ESO_PRIME- Paul Verhoeven still makes excellent movies, but he left Hollywood many years ago to return to Europe. Did you watch Verhoeven's movie "Black Book", or one of his early pre-Hollywood movies like "Soldier of Orange"? Highly recommended!
I love it for all the future stuff it give us like I never realised until I watched it again just recently. That before Bob Martin gets killed Clarence Bodega puts a DVD recording in the DVD player in 1987 where before DVDs were even invented
By today standard, this film would be classified as being *woke*
But this is how stupid our society is that they claim that something that has beem existing in Hollywood and TV before we were born is ruining movies today.
35 years later after seeing this in the theater as a kid I caught on to what Bob Morton was saying to the old man right after Kenny got killed. Basically told him they put Murphy in that precint on purpose because it's a high crime area and he's a good cop so he's a good candidate for the Robocop program, hence when Murphy keeps asking for backup the dispatcher keeps telling him they're unavailable. Backup wasn't ever gonna come. They're setting him up to "die".
Dang I didn’t catch that. That’s wild as hell I’m have to go back and pay attention to that
Yeah but Lewis called it, they could have waited or drop the pursuit eventually if backup never came.
All apart of them being so confident that they can collar the crooks themselves. That's the EXACT reason Bob Morton wanted a cop like Murphy for the program...or maybe even Lewis.
My drill instructor used to say ‘smooth is fast but fast ain’t smooth.’ Robocop moves with enough pace to get to where he needs to be. Jason vorhees and Michael Myers always catch their prey as well without running.
That part were Bob gets the video message from Dick Jones... no one picks up on the fact that it predicted DVDs more than a decade prior to their invention.
Plus the usb connection later on. Which happens to be a knife too.
And having booze delivered to your home. Xd
@@stolasgoetia93 😆
There were Laser Discs at the time. I remember my neighbor’s dad owned a VHS rental store and they were the only ones in the neighborhood with a Laser Disc Player. They were very expensive so hardly anyone had them.
“How do you know it’s him?” He said the same thing in the same tone to Emile when they killed him: “Dead or alive, you’re coming with me”. RoboCop kept many of his former human mannerisms.
We need to complete the Paul Verhoeven sci-fi series: Total Recall (1990), Starship Troopers (1997).
I know he’s seen Starship Troopers (and he loves it), but Total Recall is definitely on the list.
Do you want to know more?

And Showgirls. Lol

tossing him around while reading him his Miranda rights! Perfection!
The way I always explained Robocop 1 to people is:
"Bitches leave." -Clarence Boddiker
Best line of the movie. Sad he cut it out of the video.
@@terpdx XO-M is a solid dude...he had to cut it. You just can't willy nilly be hollering "Ladies of the Night depart these premises forthwith!" in front of people nowadays.
@@TheCaptainSlappy Oh, I get why. Just sad that he had to!
Trust me, as a lifelong Robocop fan, it pained me when he was talking during it and I couldn’t find a work around and had to cut it.
Easily the most painful cut of the entire video. LoL
"I'd Buy That for A Dollar".........
"Well even throw in a Blaupunkt" - Fancy German car stereo.
Shit after all these years someone can tell me what it was.
Blaupunkt was supposed to be a high end car stereo that came in German manufactured vehicles. Germans just considered them as average OEM stereos
ED-209 throwing a tantrum (like an inverted turtle) after falling down the steps, is probably the funniest scene in this movie.
That and the twerking. LoL
@@EOMReacts oh you went there 😆 🤣 😂
Love your reactions and your comments are even better!
The sound effects in this movie are next level decision making
"I'd like to turn in my resignation", man, I'm having so much fun with your reactions, thank you so much for your channel
Thank you for enjoying them and giving me a reason to do them
Weird fun fact. Because Murphy still technically was "alive" as a human, psychologically he self identifies as a person. So they did tests way back that proved if you don't see a face in the mirror you'll go insane. That's why they kept his face after the transformation.
That’s awesome.
Interesting. Thanks for that
dog is worried the whole time thinking you're crazy talking to nobody
Lol they be judging me
This is the movie that made me.
Came out in 1987, I was 5... I saw this in 1988 on VHS when I was 6... turned me into a cinephile.
Paul Verhoeven is the greatest satirist in history.
Before this I'd seen Superman, Mary Poppins... but RoboCop opened my eyes to the greatest themes that can be placed in movies.
A story of the soul and humanity, a story of a what it means to be a human being.
I've written thesis on this movie. Greatest sci-fi and action movie ever made... and the greatest drama too.
Btw He recognized Murphy by the "Dead or alive" line.
He recognised Robo at the gas station because he said the same thing to him at the beginning - dead or alive you're coming with me.
I saw this movie in the theater when it came out. I was 12, and a friend and I went together. Neither our parents, nor the theater gave a shit, lol. One of the best movies of the 80s.
I remember seeing this as a kid and that shooting scene where they blew him to pieces always haunted me. Glad to see it still holds up 😆
@27:14, whenever I see the ED 209, I think about the decision I’ve heard that keeps coming up in the review of unmanned drones at the Pentagon.
We have reached the point at which drones could actually fly their missions alone and engage targets on their own. However, whenever the manufacturers ask if the drone can make its own kill decisions, the Joint Chiefs continue to say No. The technology is there but we are rightly holding it back. This dilemma is apparently called “The Terminator Conundrum”.
The current Joint Chiefs are people in their 50’s and 60’s . So they were In their teens and 20’s when the original Terminator moves came out.
I’m thinking that the memory of those apocalyptic images in that movie series are the only thing standing between us and our eventual robot overlords.
That's real shit bro. No doubt!
The editing of these reviews is well done topped with a great reviewer, rarely will a review channel make me want to binge watch like this.
The editing can take forever (and I still make some mistakes), but always enjoy hearing people actually compliment it.
This type of support means a lot to us.
@@EOMReacts I’ve not noticed any mistakes as the entertainment value is quite high. Sometimes the harshest critics are ourselves looking at our work as any issues stand out.
20:57 CAUGHT IN THE ACT. your dogs crack me up
One thing that's implied by the movie (and may have been in the original script) is that the reason Detroit is so bad is *because* of OCP. They've sabotaged infrastructure, politics and competing businesses to the point where they could buy everything cheap and make Delta City - for rich people, of course. It's made more clear in the otherwise pretty bad to mediocre (and very skippable) RoboCop 3.
so its exactly like the real Detroit....
Mate you picked up on it quicker than most people. This was a fun watch 👍
Absolutely 💯
Hell...Detroit is that bad RIGHT NOW 🤣
Whether it's intentional or not, you are one funny guy man!! I have laughed so hard at most of your reactions.. The funniest being when you asked what was going on so bad in Detroit the had to bring in ED 209!! 😂😂😂😂😂
We appreciate the love and support, homie.
And he’s always sounded exactly like this when we’ve watched stuff for years. LoL
@@EOMReacts I could seriously watch any movie with this dude, he's so funny but at the same time, he points out the obvious that sometimes we miss..
Lol I just had question about the crime level in Detroit. They said if it pass Detroit it’s military ready 🤣🤣
Main reason I love this movie is the composer Basil Poledouris.
Who also worked on
Starship Troopers, Conan the Barbarian, and Red Dawn to name a few. ... Huh those would be good movies to add to the list
Hey dude, loved your reaction. If you listen to the audio commentary regarding the resuscitation scene they say they had actual doctors playing the part and giving advice to make it more real, and according to them it was possible for someone to barely survive those kinds of wounds even if they're probably going to die shortly after, so that scene is not as out there as it may seem at first.
I've seen this movie many times and my jaw hit the floor when you made the MLK dream comment. Brilliant.
“The ED-209 was twerkin” 😂 another classic satire is the Kubrick movie Dr. Strangelove if you haven’t seen it
Quite a few Kubrick movies are definitely coming up. I believe Full Metal Jacket is the only own he’s seen, so beat believe The Shining, Clockwork Orange, and Dr Strangelove (among others) are all on the list.
Any other suggestions you have, just let us know!
at the time this was high tech. with the stop motion and the level of violence was top notch... Also the bad guy is Red from that 70's show.
I love this movie. I saw it at a drive in theater when it released in 1987.
I'd say Predator stacks up with Robocop as one of the most violent movies I've seen. If you haven't seen Predator, please put it on your list.

That perfectly fits into the opening scene of RoboCop 2. When they were testing prototype RoboCop 2's
Some villains are epic: Heath Ledger's Joker, Darth Vader, Thanos, Clarence Boddinger.
"Guns! Guns! Guns!" "Bitches, leave!" "Can you fly, Bobby?" Such a great bad guy. A truly memorable performance. It just ruined That '70's Show for me.
Yeah, I was amazed at just how good Kurtwood Smith played the bad guy role. He really nailed it here - he was truly menacing as Clarence. Such a versatile actor.
Ruined it?! It made it even better for me! When that 70's show premiered, I was instantly like 'hey, it's Clarence!' - and seeing him in a snarky, comedic role was golden! Showed his versatility! Also his role in Dead Poet's Society as the one student's father. The guy is talented!
"They got rockets on him...to fight crime...in Detroit..."
ED-209, the 'future of policing', is just guns, armor, and a stern voice (that murders civilians 😬). Kinda prescient for the 2020's...
Paul Verhoeven's satire is on point, as always.
"Can we please see some crimes" you're more prophetic than you know. One of my favorite lines from the movie..." Robocop , any advice for the kids? -Stay out of trouble" !
The commercials too... You crossed my demilitarized zone - nuke em!!!
🤣🤣🤣 I had to see how bad Detroit was
I'm from the D...well the suburbs which are nice. The city other than a few blocks downtown have a lot of blocks that look like Beirut. So many houses have been demoed over the years ,that there are huge swaths of green areas where even fox and coyotes run around.
You're freaking hilarious. GREAT reactions!
Lol I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Absolutely 💯 agreed 👍
Came for the reactions, subbed for the wholesome canine content.
Welcome to the family!
They’re the stars here. We all know it.
Paul Veerhoven is the king of shocking action social satire.
My Adoptive Father worked at the building they used for OCP Headquarters. It's Dallas City Hall, with some modification to make it a taller highrise building. He was a Real Estate Appraiser for the city.
Emil recognized Murphy because he said "Dead or alive, you are coming with me." That's his catchphrase. It's just like how Lewis recognized him from his gun-twirling. They might have blanked his memory, but there is still some of Murphy the human in RoboCop.
Looks like you're watching the special edition. They had to cut some of the more extreme violence out of the film in order to get it into theatres with an R-rating (as opposed to an X-rating), but this special edition restores it to what the director intended.
“We’ll even throw in a Blaupunkt.” Blaupunkt was a company that made real nice and expensive car stereos in the 80s.
Its a fun movie kids loved it in the 80s ( now it would be pg25 or something) There are some easter eggs as well as in 1987 there where no DVDs and Bob got a mesage that was recorded on a DVD. . some fun little easter eggs hidden in the movie we now all use.
There were however video CDs, and at 480p (at best) 750/850 MB was more than enough for a 2 minute video.
@@Wesker1984 true laser disks just becoming popular .but still technology just evolved to 5,25 foppie and 3.5 disks.
Having something simular to a DVD or CD rom in the movie is quite an impresion. sadly it goes over the head of the younger generation as they think its normal.
Robocop said the exact same line the exact same way to that uzi using guy before he became Robocop. That's how he recognized him.
Blaupunkt was a popular (German-made) car stereo option back in the mid 1980's. Not as widely known today, but most people of age at the time remember these.
This guy makes the absolutely best side comments.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thank you

During the hostage negotiation, the negotiator said "if you let the mayor go, we'll even throw in a "BLAUPUNKT"!! It was a top of the line name brand for car audio back in the day!
@23:10, I always felt that in this scene, Alex Murphy woke back up. He realized that his life was in danger and life any human being he scrambled.
"let the mayor go, we'll even throw in a blah box.' old term for radio.
It's a timeless masterpiece.
17:18 the dude who catches the gun is the director himself
"Somebody call a goddamn paramedic!"
"NO I WANNA QUIT!"
LMAO :DDDDDD

RoboCop is a hilarious over the top satirical look at privatization gone mad. When you privatize everything, profit always comes first, and greed rises to the top. Verhoeven's action films always have a satirical edge. I think it would be fair to say that most of his films are political, in one way or another. He's very broad with the satire, as well, and I love it.
You'll probably enjoy Total Recall if you watch it... same director. Less overtly comical but the movie doesn't take itself too seriously. Both movies are very much social commentary 👍👍👍
In the military in real life, there have been guys who got half their brains blown out of their heads, but somewhat survived.
The Ford Taurus that the Detroit police uses in this movie may seem like a raggedy-ass car today, but when this movie was made, the model hadn't even been released yet.
The production got a deal with Ford to use the Taurus in the movie and they made it to be the first public showing of this new model.
Apparently it looked very futuristic for it's time.
Gotta say, not many people catch the whole bath scene, it's all about number ones and twos, people pissing their pants and NOT washing your hands after taking a dump as a powermove
The way you jumped when clarence blew Murphys hand off then his entire right arm was my same reaction 😂😂 😂.. great stuff J ❤
Dick Jones was played by the actor Ronny Cox who also was in the movie Beverly Hills Cop as the Police Lt. of Beverly Hills. He was also good in the movie Vision Quest (1985), also starring Matthew Modine as a high school wrestler. (good movie to watch here)
It's not just that crime is so bad in "Old Detroit", it's that the goal is to virtually eliminate crime before Delta City gets built, which was why OCP were taking extreme measures. Of course, in real life it's impossible to eliminate crime, especially with laws and law enforcement, which can only help mitigate it somewhat, at best.
Thanks for such a fun first viewing. I had the good fortune to see RoboCop in the theater.
Glad you enjoyed the video
No need to apologize. I've seen reviews where they never get that it's a satire. I've just started watching your channel and like what you bring.
That’s much appreciated.

A foretelling of a future kind of corporate fashism, BUT what's worrying is to think this was already happening in the REAL 1980s just more subtle. & we've lived with it ever since.
Human nature and civilization. We've been dealing with it a very long time, we just keep getting better at doing it.
@@jayeisenhardt1337 how so? & where is the proof? also what are your thoughts on the film?
20:12 Murphy is just ragdolling Clarence Boddicker at this point. Didn't even matter if Boddicker spit in his face -- Murphy was about to crush his throat and there was nothing that could stop him except his prime directives.
Murphy's gun by the way is called the Auto-9. It's based on an automatic version of a Baretta pistol but with an extension to make it look more proportional to RoboCop's hand.
you are the second one that notice the small details. very impressive. edit the dead or alive part gave to emil away that he was the same cop that they shot up.
They have been building a Statue of robocop to put downtown. It should be installed soon. The city really turned itself around. Yeah we have crime and a lot of empty houses but it's completely different from the 80s. Downtown is alive with bars, sports ,all kinds of things to do and it's all walkable.
Great reaction. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Lol took me a while to figure it out
13:36 stain of shame
people ask why Murphy gave his position away....it's because he's a cop and shooting a man while back turned constitutes murder. In every instance Robocop did not fire first or constitute a justifiable shooting.
- Convenience store robber: Didn't fire, incapacitated him while he fled
- Two rapists: 2nd surrendered, 1st shot in groin.
- Hostage taker: Didn't intervene til he threatened the mayor directly.
- Emil: Shot his bike, crashed, survived
- Leon: Taken into custody, interrogated
- Factory: killed 17 people, ALL justifiable as they shot first
- Joe: Shot by murphy
- Clarence: Threatened to kill him, killed in defense
- Dick Jones: killed after threateneing with deadly weapon
I agree with everything except the convenience store. He might not fire but that dude died lol
RoboCop's gun in real life is a dressed up Beretta 93R, which has a fully automatic fire option, making it a machine-pistol (just about any common semiautomatic pistol could be easily converted into a machine-pistol, although that is pretty much illegal). It's just a 9mm pistol, otherwise, although in the movie they pretend that it's more powerful, they made it look much larger, and they gave it a cool sound.
Total Recall directed by Paul Verhoeven, Director of Robocop is also an amazing film having a very similar feel. Demolition Man directed by Marco Brambilla is another great film but no doubt you have already been recommend these other two movies.
'You can't be a robot with depression.'
Good thing he's a cyborg and not a robot then lol.
Either way he ain’t suppose to be depressed lol
Always love watching first reactions to this movie. Most people that didn't see action films from this time, always react the same way to the kills in this film.
An idea they had for Back to the Future 2 was, you can't predict how the future will actually look....so just have fun with it
Red Forman is a machine lol

@13:10, now now because Robocop is a police officer he gets qualified immunity for any on job deaths.
And good grief will he need it in this movie.
Dude, your pooch is awesome. Cheers for the reaction 👍👍
10:55 Movie name: Auto-9, Real world: A Heavily modified Beretta 93R.
The Beretta 93R is a machine pistol and fires 3 round bursts with each trigger pull (when on burst mode, otherwise it is a semiautomatic, with one shot per trigger pull).
"I feel like there's a martin Luther king joke to be made" 😂😂😂😂😂
No need to apologize. Authentic reactions is what it's all about! Thanks for the video!

Back in the day they overdubbed all the salty language for the TV version. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
I'll buy that for a dollar
This is supposed to take place in Detroit but they filmed most of it in Dallas TX. I'm from Dallas and when I was a teenager we would go to different filming locations and stand behind the baracades and watch them film scenes. Pretty cool to watch!
What we today define under one umbrella as ALL-things-being racism...well, back then, it was cynicism to the Nth degree. If Robocop taught me anything, it is that man will do anything for money.
What I find oh-so ironic is that an American action movie like Robocop, the ICON firearm is Italian made. And the movie ends with the most satisfying ending in movie history!
Most of the outside scenes for this were actually filmed in Dallas. This is supposed to be 50 years in the future & they couldn't find enough modern looking buildings in Detroit so they went to Dallas.
🤣🤣🤣 that’s the nicest way I have ever heard somebody say Detroit is shitty
