Based on what we know about evolution, I dare say it's not only probable but also inevitable. if humanity expands to distant colonies with no instantaneous travel, it's plausible that over time, genetic, cultural, and environmental differences could lead to distinct evolutionary branches. Factors like isolation, different planetary environments, and limited gene flow between colonies could drive this diversification, potentially resulting in varied human adaptations and new cultural identities.
Mashing all those together really shows how limited many sci-fi writers are. Not just Star Trek, but SOOOO many things have an ancient extinct race, or evil AI. Hell I love Expanse and even that has both.
Other theory: the Founders weren't created by the Progenitors casting off all their evil into Armus. Armus was just purge batch #1. _They_ were purge batch #2. Dumping them in another quadrant was just a standard waste dilution practice, a safety feature.
It'd be one in the eye for the Founders. "here have a look at this. You were bio-waste the Progenitors didn't even need or want in their quest to make humanoid solids. You weren't even worth effort to neutralise. They just threw you on a barren rock and said f-you" 😂
The only thing I’d say about this is evolution is largely down to natural selection. Paris could have evolved into millions of different potential species
That definitely would have to be one of the worst Trek episodes of all time -- a complete lack of understanding how natural selection determines evolution.
I think Paramount etc., is making a big mistake in not making a cable show, on the Life and Times of Pseudo Pods? Or whatever they turned into. Paris and Janeway, the original actors, dress up in furry costumes, showing how they Would have been if they were not taken back. It could be done like a musical. Like Cats! I can see it now, having an assemble cast of actors. Like Jeremy Irons, Anthony Hopkins, Kate Winslow, Emma Watson and more! All doing Shakespearian type language. You can take my idea and make money from it. You don't have to thank me.
I would also suggest another possible theory. In The Animated Series, there are the Slavers, or "Thrintun" as they are called in Larry Niven's _Know Space_ series who ruled the entire Milky Way over a billion years ago in the Trek universe. While not part of Trek lore it is stated they came to power by taking over, enslaving, and later killing a much more ancient and advance alien species. Perhaps if this is also the case in Trek those aliens could have been the Trek's Progenitors.
I don't like there being like one uni-theory tying everything together in Star Trek, but this is some fun speculation I don't think the Great Link was quite successful in excising toxicity when it finally expelled Armus lol

Voyager already had some strange comical ideas. There is no predetermined form which humanity will evolve into. That would be the opposite of evolution. Evolution is about adaptation to the existing environment.
I think if you spend 10 episodes and you get to the end, and the not- Progenitor says they're extinct, who cares at this point? What about those 10 episodes? Why did any of them happen? What does that have to do with progenitors creating a technology and clues? Why did we even watch Moll and La'ack on their supposed Bonnie and Clyde routine (PR words not mine)?
In the final episode they reveal the progenitors didn't actually create the technology or the clues; some other ancient race made the tech and the scientists made the clues. The entire reason for Moll and La'ack wanting to find the progenitor tech was so they'd be able to somehow buy their way out of the blood bounty without killing La'acks uncle. Why did the episodes happen? Kovich SOMEHOW got intel on where that romulan ship was with the clue to the progenitor tech and gave everyone the "red directive" mission to find the tech before the Breen. Does any of this plot really make any sense if you really think about it? Barely.
Is 6:11 from Elysium? The next Star Trek show should be about the copy of the Doctor meeting up with the Paris + Janeway offspring and them having fun adventures in the 33rd century.
@@MajorGrin Funny, according to Braga the entire plot was to show that not all prices evolve, some devolve, but that dialog was left out. A mess of an episode no matter what they said.
