It's always good to buy a can of compressed air or a machine that compresses air for cleaning the laptop regularly. There's also a program on steam, but this is completely subjective, called Wallpaper Engine for those wanting to have some extra wallpapers that are dynamic. Also changing the thermal compound is pretty common for gamers.

    1. Remove bloatware and disable unnecessary startup programs

@@jake598481 Hi sorry I found this information from reddit but basically it requires you to remove the hardrive cage next to the battery exposing the NVME slot and then replacing the 60 W/h battery with the 80 W/h battery which will take over the space where the hardrive cage was. The laptop actually comes with an 80W/h battery for the RTX 2060 version and some places sell the 80 W/h version for the gtx 1660 ti model, they also have the 80W/h in the legion 5 17 inch 1660 ti model so it is definitely compatible with the hardware. Some laptops use a combination of philips head and torx screws. Also, if there are only a few visible screws, you may need to pull off the rubber strips on the bottom. Do this carefully because its possible to pull up the rubber and leave the adhesive strip causing you to stretch out the rubber. If this happens, cut the excess length from the middle with a utility razor.

You might not have heard about this one, but there's a script on Github called "Windows 10 Decrapifier" that uninstalls the crap that Win 10 comes with, including but not limited to - Cortana, privacy invading telemetry, "Your Phone," Skype, Famville, Built in Advertising, Skype, etc. The best part is that it's customizable with documentation inline so you can customize it to fit your needs. Again, more experienced people only!

Upgrade your thermal paste to something nicer. Liquid metal is a bit of a gray area, but something like KPX/Kryonaut/GC-Extreme would help with thermals by a few degrees, and help with a bit better boosting behavior during game play. If every bit counts (RAM, SSD, etc) then this should also be considered.

Also it last wayy longer compared to thermal paste (probably years) before you need to replace it. The only thing I found is that it is very hard to remove the heatsink of the cpu again because it dries up quite solid. Atleast on my laptop. Maybe it would be possible if it is still warm, but it is not really a problem for me. Also the legion in this video uses ptm7950 stock so I wouldnt repaste it.

Wow that was loooooooooooong with info that could've been conveyed within 5minutes.
There is a big thing that you didn't even mention : Replace that thermal paste.
I completely understand that it is a little advanced method, and not really useful when looking at a brand new laptop. But as the laptop gets old, it becomes absolutely crucial to repaste to get better thermals and hence avoid thermal throttling.

    • @kedardhamankar403
      @kedardhamankar403 3 года назад

@@PSYCHOV3N0M well first the obvious one
      It consumes less ram
Alot of time i play games with browser open and my laptop used to lag with Chrome bcuz yeah I had a trash processor
      But things r better now.
And well there's nothing to complain about, if u want a chrome extension u can get it, edge supports them.
And i believe edge is more privacy focused than Chrome since it has a strict mode too (if u r interested in) which block all trackers.
So If u dont have a powerful pc and want to multitask better, get edge
It really uses less resources 😂

07:45 Sure we can use Global Daum Potplayer.
It can utilizie VR, DVD, 3D movie, TV, playing audio, equalizer, own audio configuration like floating point 32bit, surround mode; dolby pro logic II, DTS, sample rate, color space, and so on instead K-lite codec pack doesn't own those features.
Easy for dummies (I mean newbie/ordinary user).
When you doing something wrong and don't know how to fix that just clik "reset" icon in preference setting then your problem already fixed.
    You might try it (Recommended)

Not on all versions of the installer. On some of them you need to unplug your ethernet - Or start over if you accidentally hopped on your wifi.

It's possible on all installers to bypass it. All I said was that some have the "No I don't want an MS account" option, while others won't offer it, unless you physically unplug yourself during installation.

If you head over to Reddit, myself and the AMDLAPTOPS community has created a Ram Compatibility list with kits that will and won't work on a Ryzen 4000 system. As more people validate more ram kits, the longer the list gets. With that being said, our best bang-for-the-buck (and the second fastest kit we've validated) is the Mushkin Essentials Sodimm kit.

In the US (and probably other places as well, but do check) it is illegal for a manufacturer to void a warranty for opening your laptop and upgrading components like RAM and hard drive. The only way they can refuse service that is covered under warranty is if they can prove that your upgrades caused the issue.

Don't forget ThrottleStop. The biggest feature is being able to adjust settings in Windows to lower power consumption/voltages to keep your laptop running cooler and quieter.
And don't forget to immediately uninstall the built in Skype, though it can prove difficult to do!

Great Video! As I'm using my Legion 5PI as my only system, I'm currently looking for a second external monitor for work and gaming. I could see more poeple being interested in the topic as there are a lot of things to consider in that specific use case (Gaming Laptop with two external monitors).
    For example:
    1080p vs 1440p
24" or larger? (or even a single ultrawide instead)
    Connecting via USB-C to DisplayPort/HDMI
    Refresh rate
    Should you get a Dockingstation
    etc.
Initially, I thought of getting a high refresh rate 27" 1440p IPS Gsync monitor. After doing some research, I'm currently thinking 24" 1080p is probably the better option. Still unsure though.
