Balancing your sound; the sound of your voice, when singing means that your vowels will align properly in your exercises and also your songs. If your vowels align in your songs you will be more easily understood when you sing but you'll also get greater flexibility and accuracy of pitch. In other words, riffing will be easier and you'll be able to sing in tune better.
The exercises in this video use short syllables to set up the vocal fold. Here's the catch though: the short breaths in the video will upset that setup, challenging you to be more accurate with your placement in order to get a well adducted sound. These exercises are some of the most efficient and effective ways I have found to balance a singer's tone. Presented here in moderate ranges for Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone voices for starters; these exercises are great for extending range too.
Enjoy!

I absolutely love that you make separate videos for each vocal range and give us a full exercise to do - it is sooo convenient with no fuss at all. I find myself just going straight to your videos whenever I want to warm up my voice and I'm on my way. Amazing! Keep up the great content!!!
the best vocal warm ups on the internet! thanks
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!

I’ve been watching your videos every day for 3 or 4 years now for warm up. You’re phenomenal
I agree with you completely!
This was soooo effective. My throat got a real workout in with this video. You can automatically feel how effective this exercise is. Thanks, Jeff.
I LOVE YOU SIR! It's really tough to find a singing guru online, who actually makes me feel like I am singing right in front of that piano and taking an actual lesson. Thank you for this! I pray for your good health and long life
Thank you so much! I appreciate it! Thanks for subscribing too!
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun Jeff. I will be shouting you out when I win my first grammy. FACTS.
Please do!!! Awesome!
Jeff
Woah, this is probably my new holy grail. Yesterday I couldn't seem to hit my notes the right way even after my warm-up, then I discovered this and I felt an immediate improvement by LENGTHS, so I just had to return to it today. Definitely going to add this to my daily practice sessions. Thank you so much for making these videos! I've only stumbled upon your channel recently, so I haven't had a chance to try more than a few of them, but so far every single one has helped me. I started college last year and I'm getting back into singing after a years long break during which, apparently, my voice dropped from soprano range to alto range without me noticing, so I have a lot to work on, but I'm getting there :)
This HELPED SO MUCH. I just recovered from vocal nodules and my vocal cords love these specific exercises. Thank you Jeff 🙏😊💜
This is a new favorite of mine! I noticed an immediate difference. Quite a workout though!!
OMG ! Thank you my voice can avoid some fractures when i sing some high songs
yay
Thank you so much, Jeff! The quality of my voice is improving daily. I'm so grateful.
Thank you Jeff! ❤️🎶🎵
Just found your page and subscribed your amazing thank you 🙏🏾❤️

Amazing exercises Jeff. I can really see the difference. Thank you very much...
Thank you for this video!
The techniques are very helpful and easy to understand(though it takes time to master them).
And also, the exercises are perfect for my range. (C#3 to Bb5)
These are soooooo useful! Thanks you so much for these!
Hi Jeff! Thank you so much for your videos. I have been practicing for a couple of days now and I really like the warm ups. I am not quite as smooth as I wanna be, but I am faithful! Thank you.
This is changing my voice
For the better I hope!
Jeff
The best alto warm ups! Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
This should be nicknamed the Ruddigore Lamaze Lesson! ;-D (Reminds me a lot of "So It Really Doesn't Matter" from Pirates of Penzance, originally from Ruddigore. LOL - And, I just learned from a RUclips search that Vincent Price once sang one of the parts in the Ruddigore version! WOW! I hadn't even known he could sing! Learn something new every day.)
LOL! Thanks for that! Thanks for watching! Enjoy!!!
Best,
Jeff
Without any further ado at 0:30 😉 Thanks Jeff! 🐯

@@JeffRolka Well I can't claim it as my Karaoke; It's just something that I want to do now that I can't! 👩🚀
I just want to ask on how could I change my vocal tone turn into alto? what practices I should do?
-thank you!
One of my favorite. Useful and funny! 😊
Thank you! I have long felt that humor helps with retention. Enjoy!!
Jeff
Hey Jeff quick question, I'm a tenor and I was hoping to use this video to improve my tone in my mixed range. Would that work or it tone only something that's worked on in chest voice? Also if applicable could I use your mezzo soprano range to improve tone in my falsetto/flageolet?
Thanks so much for these videos they are a great asset.
this is BRUTAL!!! haha, however extremely useful to regain the flexibility i thought I had lost when I went from lyric sop all the way down here...! :)
Glad you're finding this useful! If you find that questions come up, consider joining me for my weekly live event:

Hopefully not too brutal! :-)
Best,
Jeff
Thank you! this looks most helpful!
(I am having this 2nd puberty... vocal change into dramatic mezzo)
Looking forward to these events!
thank you so much for this, I greatly appreciate this.
Hey Jeff. Is it important to breathe in through the mouth on arpeggios? My tone seems improved, smoother when inhaling through the nose when singing the scale. Thanks.
Not especially. What is important is to have the freedom to allow the jaw to be in whatever position it was last in while you were singing. If you move it reflexively when breathing, you're inducing muscle tension that is unnecessary for proper singing.
Jeff
What are the scale degrees played please
Ok thanks.

Sir how i increase stability un voice
Is it normal that I'm supposed to be a tenor but still do this warm up.
I can do it with out discomfort or forcefulness
There is a lot of overlap in the alto and tenor fachs. Yes, totally fine.
Best,
Jeff
