    After only driving the Maverick a few hundred miles you captured the essence of the Maverick nicely. I have a XL AWD 2.O Turbo that is 3 months old. My experiences have been similar. I have watched many reviews and I am tiring of seeing people whine about how Ford cheaped out on this or that. I bought a 25K vehicle. I was never under the impression it was going to be like a vehicle in the 50K range……it is what it is. My payment is also not $600 a month either. Look forward to more of your content.

      think about what you're saying... $50k truck... thats insane.. vehicle inflation has outpaced every other type of inflation and its not talked about except when you go to buy one.. you can't even buy used vehicles anymore without a 10 year old one asking its original sticker price.. its insane. A 25k truck should have everything you need and more and should be a top model not a budget one.

      I didn't want to spend the additional $3000 for the AWD, which on other models as an add-on is usually only $1200-$1500. Maybe next time, but for the most part AWD in FL makes no sense.

    Great video man really appreciate it, I like that you touched on things that most reviewers didn't cover, it's the small things that add up really and can even be deal breakers or must haves (like that volume speed compensation which is a feature that is great but randomly comes and goes on models). And good call on skipping the flex bed, we've heard the pitch so many times.

    Great video, learned a lot. I got my base model in late January and love it. A couple of issues I noticed - NOISE! The exhaust pipe looks like they used a tin can, it has vibration written all over it. Sure enough, on acceleration it sounds like an outboard motor. To use the touch screen display needs a course in computer science. Nice call on the tire pressure I need to check mines. Yeah those brackets act like cymbals. Why don’t Ford hire you as advisor for improving new models. Thanks again. This truck is a game changer I hope the other mfgrs take a lesson.

    Holy cow…I live in Maine. My story is so similar to yours. I too went to a Mike @ Long McArthur Ford after seeing Tim Bartz and his weekly Livestream. My Mike is affectionately called: Maverick Mike Mull. I loved the way the whole sales process took place with Mike, that my daughter and son bought Mavericks also. We ordered on July 14, 2021 and we flew in mid January to pickup our two trucks to drive them home back to Maine with a nice side trip through Branson , Missouri & Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee along the way. 2,300 miles total. XLT Hybrids both, we averaged 36 MPG all the way home even after hitting 80 MPH speeds in the plains of Kansas. Mine is still to be built because of the Luxury Package on my XLT model with the 360 CoPilot feature. (I’m retired and can use all the help electronically wise I can get). Loved your video.

    Look up Dynamat sound deadening material. Take a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel and remove those useless brackets behind the back seat, then apply the dynamat to the back wall. If you need more do under the front carpet and up the firewall. Maybe those vents are to prevent blowing the front windshield out when slamming the door shut.

    To address a noise issue, I did see a video where on the XLT Ford leaves out the insulated panel between the front doors and the engine compartment. I have not looked at mine yet to see if his was just a one off or not but there are part#s for that panel. The video also showed him installing them. I just did a 3 hour trip in our Maverick and I have no issues with cabin noise. It' much quieter than our 2015 GMC Terrain was.

    Great Video, im waiting on my XLT with FX4 and 4k tow in the exact same color. I do like how you touched on the back wall of the truck. One of the first things I will be doing is adding a sound deadening material to that wall also if you are looking for something to put between the wall and those brackets (they are primarily for the upgraded sound system and power rear window options i think) try putting a dense foam block in between the bracket and the wall. That will cut that vibration and noise out. Hopefully mine shows up soon as i got stuck in the chip shortage. Its parked in a lot in Mexico waiting for a computer lol

      That markup sucks, but take heart. Ford just recently (last couple of days) sent a letter to all Ford dealerships stating that they need to knock off the price gouging because they're starting to see loyal customers go to other brands that aren't doing that nonsense. Plus, the supply chain debacle is ever so slowly getting back on track.

    • @oldgunowner
      @oldgunowner 2 года назад

      I was told by the dealership I ordered my maverick from that if you order the truck they can't charge additional dealer mark-up but if you refuse it they are free to tack on additional mark-up. When I ordered mine they had one in the showroom for people to see posted with $9000. Mark-up and they would not sell it until they had another one to put in the showroom. Also they cannot order any for stock but Ford may at times offer a truck or 2 for their stock.

    I'm still waiting on mine here in Canada but I've also been thinking about how to quiet the maverick up a bit... I'm thinking about using the same type of sound proofing that I've used in the engine room of my boat. It's got a foil covering over foam on both sides of a layer of rubber. It's expensive but really does work even for an old diesel engine. I'm thinking I'd like to do the hood and behind the seat. Maybe even parts of the firewall depending on room and clearance. Will wait and see. Thanks for the honest video. I'll check my tire pressure on day 1 now😁

    • @Mac-oh5fw
      @Mac-oh5fw  2 года назад +3

      Hi Rocko, we think alike. I just received some Dynamat hood liner that I ordered. Will see if it reduces engine noise on acceleration. The EcoBoost engine is extremely quiet at Idle, and you don't really hear any engine noise at highway speeds...just on acceleration in town. I plan to do some videos on the outcome. Good luck with your Maverick order.

    • @rockobeam2706

      @@Mac-oh5fw will check out that brand of hood liner. Will watch any videos you make. I'm getting (eventually) the hybrid version but I do know that this is one of the least soundproofed vehicles out there. I think it'll make a big difference in comfort of long distance trips. I'm hoping to drive across Canada in the next few years.

I will see if I have any problems with the Maverick during the base warranty period. You can purchase an extended warranty through Ford at a later date as long as the vehicle is still in the standard warranty period. If I was going to buy an extended warranty, it would be through Ford. If you purchase gap insurance, make sure to get it from a different insurance carrier than you have your regular auto insurance with.

There were other electrical issues too, the whole truck (electrically) locked up. Lucky me I took it to the dealer and it failed while checking it in. Seems the 12 volt battery was not charging up correctly even though it shows 13.1 volts. Also had 'shutdown' errors. I should get my Lariat back tomorrow or Wednesday. I just really wish they made the hybrid in AWD the way gas prices are right now, but AWD is a deal breaker with how much snow I get where I live.

    I have an xlt. With awd 4 k tow package 360 copilot ..i also got the ford roll up cover for the back.im also got the carbonized gray with the black ford wheels..they are really nice.well I installed a light bar on it .i had to attach it to the top lip on the bumper..it wouldn't sit flat on the truck because of the sheet metal wraps around the corners..i used the points ford gives you and bought seat covers and deflector for hood.im going in tommorro for a new windshield .i took a rock right under.my passenger windshield wiper.i had it fixed but a week later it took off and headed out about a foot. 840 dollars installed because of all the safety stuff in the window and reprogramming.they also get to take car of my dash cams.they don't know that yet.love the truck.order all new led lights for it..i installed red stencils in back where it sez maverick.it looks great.it breaks up the all gray affect.oh yea mud flaps are a must.they help a lot.i got them thru ford also.i picked up the special floor mats there nice .50 dollars each is hard to take .they probably cost. 5 dollars to make if that., but its saves the carpet.

    You wanted to quiet your Maverick. Go to the Maverick Truck Club site and look for the thread by the guy who's added sound deadening material to his Maverick.

    Can I ask how much over MSRP did you pay? I just reached out to this dealership and the email I got back said if they get one in it will be 5k over MSRP if XL or XLT. 7.5k over of Lariat or hybrid. Screw that!

    • @Mac-oh5fw
      @Mac-oh5fw  2 года назад +1

      Hi Steve, all I can say is wow...that's bad. I actually paid $200 under MSRP when I ordered my Maverick last September. Long McArthur took $200 off MSRP to help offset their $299 documentation fee. I try not to pay more than $75 in documentation fees. It sucks that Dealerships are doing this to their customers.

    • @stevemlejnek7073

      Yes, I knew Long McArthur was marking up Mavericks on the lot..sadly many dealers are doing this. I had no idea they had increased their markup to this extreme level. If you can shop different dealers you may find one with lower or no markup. It seems they are getting hard to find.

    I also got my XLT from Long McArthur and delt with Mike Lett. They are the most honest straight forward dealership I have ever encountered. They were able to drop ship mine directly from the factory to my local dealer. My title and tag was waiting for me when I picked it up and it was a seamless transaction. Needless to say the sales people were not thrilled at my local dealer but the vehicle was delivered in good order. I cannot say enough about Long McArthur Ford. To me they are the best Ford dealership in the country and have won me as a customer for life.

    Check out some automotive sound deadening material. It's basically a peel and stick. You can cut it to shape and apply it wherever you see fit. ...can be a little pricy but well worth it.

    Excellent review. Brought up some things that I haven't seen and trust me I've seen a lot of reviews. I own a '20 F150 XL, short bed/reg cab and even though it's an inexpensive truck it came with laminated windows for sound insulation. At one point I saw that it was only available on the Maverick's Lariat or maybe deluxe package. Ordered a XLT hybrid 10/15. Delivery, mid/late summer? Ford has the other manufacturers playing catch up on this segment

    • @Mac-oh5fw

      Hi Steve, when I was considering the different trim levels, I did see the laminated front window on the Lariat trim level and I think you're right that it was with the luxury package. The noise level isn't terrible, but I have the bug to try to make it quieter. Will post video on details. Good luck with your Maverick order...this is a great truck. Thanks

    Great video and points made you don't hear on the big corporate type reviews. I do like that low profile bed cover. I have one very similar to this on order but I also opted for the luxury package....other than that its essentially the same spec as yours in Alto Blue.
