As much as I love BG3, he’s absolutely right. There’s no way that I would watch him play an 80+ hour playthrough of a game, especially if I’m playing it myself. Ain’t got time for that. I’d watch a few episodes of the beginning, then hope for a supercut video with all the highlights.

    • @dreambuffer

Yeah the only playthrough of his ive ever watched to completion was the Fallout new vegas playthrough, which was the best content he's ever made and that was almost 10 years ago now. I would rather rewatch that than watch another 80+ hour playthrough. The era of longform playthroughs is dead.

There's a lot of competition this year which is good. FF16, BG3, TOTK and hopefully Spiderman and Starfield will be as good as people think they will be. I'd have added Diablo 4 if they didn't loose a lot of the goodwill from players with the latest season update, and Remnant 2 has received really high praise but I think it's to small to receive a GOTY nod with all the heavy hitters. What I'm saying is it's subjective. Someone who loves Spiderman may not enjoy BG3 and someone who loves BG3 may not enjoy Spiderman but it doesn't make them bad games. Minecraft youtubers had potentially hundreds of episodes in a "series" and gotten far more popular than NL. NL has just gotten the reputation and viewer base of "play SAP over and over again".

It combines the isometric CRPG with the cinematic experience of a AAA game and it makes a world of difference. It feels like Dragon Age: Origins in all the best ways. CRPG's often suffer from a lack of meaningful character interaction because they're reduced to a small portrait in a dialogue box and i had no idea how much of a difference that made until BG3.
