      Love birds do choose partners they bond with hence their name. Ours was a little menace but when he liked you oh boy it’s like you were his world. Just me being there seemed to make his day. Not all animals are like that tho, some much rather be left alone so don’t go around thinking everything is your pet. You going to get hurt and worse you going to get animals hurt unnecessarily

      Many animals actually choose someone to be their friend, especially if they are not social animals and don't have anyone around with them. But bond of such animals is too strong for one to get over death of other. Such *best friend* relationship was seen between my two madagascarian roaches and two male spiders.

    Reminds me of when my girl and I drove 2 hours to adopt a lovebird, picked him up, name was moon because of the blue and whites. Driving down the road, on his perch center console, we get a call from the people we just got moon from. Lady said, you won’t believe this. Another lovebird, tropical colors, was in their front yard tree. We came back, he flew right to my shoulder. Called him sunny cause of his colors. Moon and sunny did the lovebird cuddle on the perch and slept whole car ride home.

    85% of parrots get resold/abandoned within 2 years of care! Small parrots are very loud and routinely live 15-20 years with good care. It's a big commitment. They're temperamental, can chew through furniture and even severely injure you with their beaks. Don't get birds just because they look cute as babies. Do your research.

    • @nisar8009
      @nisar8009 17 дней назад +30

      Exactly! I researched for a year before I got my African Grey 23 years ago. Upon reflection I still think I should have waited 5 years. My children were too young and I didn’t have as much time as I wanted to spend with him. He’s a charming bird, but if I had waited I could have spent more time with him when he was young. I only had a couple of hours each evening after getting him and that’s not enough time. Now that I’m older and it’s only him and I we spend a lot of our time together. I love him dearly.

    • @Ilivedbih
      @Ilivedbih 16 дней назад +5

      @@marcusdaloia2974 From my experience it's the same with kids or cats. If you can have the patience for chewing, scratched stuff etc you can handle bird.
      Tbf my parrot isn't as loud as my cat was 😅 she used to do the screeching a lot, especially at night which made me go insane sometimes lol. My ringneck doesn't scream but keeps on talking in a baby voice, so Ig it depends on the breed.

    I am so glad he found you and was saved! My conure escaped on me a couple of weeks ago and I was devastated. I looked all day from 7:30 am until it got dark around 8:30! I was one of the lucky ones in that I got him back. He was found by a kind couple and brought indoors. A neighbour was scrolling through lost pet sites and saw a picture of him posted from a home a couple of blocks away and came pounding on my door at 10:00 yelling somebody found him. Apparently they heard him tapping on their window wanting to get in out of the dark! I was so grateful because he never would have survived being in the cold all night.

      Or, maybe his previous home was less than ideal, as you said, lacking love and attention. Any which way we look at it, Conure definitely made the right choice with this guy, and lucked out with the whole family!

    I enjoyed this rescue story! I rescued a cockatiel one summer. I was living in a high-rise in Chicago. On my balcony one day I began to see a light colored bird flying around below me. I was on the 26th floor. I kept seeing it fly around and thought it might be a parakeet or some other pet bird. It was beginning to get chilly, and so one day, I thought maybe I could rescue the bird. I began to clap my hands and call to the bird. To my surprise, duddenly the bird flew up to my window sill. It was a cockatiel. Well after a little coaxing, I reached for the bird through my window and brought it inside. I knew they were vegetarians and it would not have survived much longer. I had her for about ten years. She was a joy to have.

    just a quick reminder that not everyone has social media if you find an animal that may have been lost it is best to contact local shelters or hang posters around the area, that's how I found my cat :) Also when a bird gets lost sometimes owners think it's much more difficult to find than a dog or cat and lose hope more easily.

    Birds show so much personality when they can develop a 100% trust relationship like this. It is usually much harder since we are evolutionarily distant compared to the typical mammal pets and have less instinctive and bodylanguage overlap. The fact that this happened naturally is amazing. It must have had a good caretaker before, so its weird they didnt hear from anyone.

    So sweet. Growing up we had a couple of budgies but I didn't get close to one of them till the last few years of it's life. It was not friendly and would bite if you put your hand in the cage so I never did anything other that replenish it's food, until I came across information on how to tame them. Over summer break I spent some time trying to tame it everyday until it stopped being aggressive by letting it get used to my hand being in the cage and progressing to touching it in the cage and so forth... lo and behold it became the friendliest most sweetest bird! It no longer bit anyone and when I would come home from school it would spend the rest of the day on my shoulder until I went to bed. I'm glad I put in the work because if not I wouldn't have known how deep of a relationship you can have with a bird and it completely changed my view on all birds. Animals really do bring such positive changes to your life, it's something special and irreplaceable.
