Smart of you to realize this…. It would behoove you to become an investor early in life as well. Gold, Silver, real estate…. Don’t be afraid, you can become independently wealthy before you are 50 ✌🏽
Started with watching Dr. Berg in Oct. 2020. Down 135lbs. in the first year. Keeping it off even after vacation, parties, and social events. I'm learning maintenance in this past year and forward- various fasting options changed it all. Healed my liver and diabetes. Off all meds. And now I can live within a healthy weight range with no fear of rebounding. I point everyone I know toward these informative videos to save their health. Eat to heal. Thank you Dr. Berg! I'm around food and kids all day, almost 50, and on one income. If I can do it, anyone can. It's truly a miracle that God led me to Dr. Berg and this information!!
That’s fantastic. I lost about 6 stone but far too quickly, ended up with loose skin and slightly sunken eyes. It’s tempting to go as rapidly as possible but always be healthy and safe when reaching your ideal weight.
Started out listening you, doing keto the right way, lost weight like crazy, Then I started getting all of these odd looks from people, people telling me it was not healthy, At the time I was only counting carbs, I felt great, the weight was falling off, But got worried about not getting all my nutritional needs, Started a food diary, and sure enough I was not getting all my nutritional needs, added some healthy fats to my diet, now all my nutritional needs are in the green now, Still feel great, but I did gain some of the weight back. 18 months of doing keto, I will never go back to high carb diet again, My blood work looks excellent now, 75 and feel much younger.
Congratulations! What a wonderful success! Would you mind sharing it to Dr. Berg's website so it can help inspire more people? Please use this link: www.drberg.com/add-client-success-story

A brief and comprehensive explanation. Thank you Dr Berg. There was a time when I was never satisfied, always hungry. Something was definitely not right. It took several months of being strictly low carb before this feeling subsided. Now food satisfies again, tastes better and gives me more energy.

Wow, I've been fighting my weight for decades. Usually it's the low carb diet. Now I'm struggling with high blood sugar.... Thank you for opening my eyes Dr.Berg!
I’ve taken over a thousand keto blood readings…what is huge is timing your carbs around some kind of exercise. It’s a game-changer. Keep it under 100 grams of carbs for the day and eat the carbs immediately before and/or after exercising. For example, I can have a big yogurt and walk for an hour and I’m still in deep keto 4 hours later.
Your body can convert protein to glycogen, too, which wasn’t mentioned ( gluconeogenisis) Decades of the ‘low fat’ mantra has left many people so adverse to fat that when they try low carb diets, they end up doing a low carb / low fat diet - which means they are eating a high protein diet which is just an expensive way of eating a normal carb / low fat diet and doomed to failure.
Dr. Berg I have been so blessed by watching your videos. For years I was failing in my health and fitness attempts. Watching your channel has been so eye opening. Everything makes so much sense. Now my family and I are using the tools and changing our life.
Hello,I'm glad&thankful for your such guidance as I get rid of rheumatoid arthritis almost 65%.I'm 40 years old and was suffering this disease from last 14years.still have painfull tear 2 in knee .
I do running and strength training a lot and lean chicken breasts have always been my protein source post workout or some salmon. I noticed that when I ate drumsticks/thighs instead of chicken breasts, it was more satiating, because these chicken parts are more fatty. I then went back to my chicken breasts but added oily dressings like my lemon tahini dressing with avocado oil and noticed how filling it was. Fat is important, eat the damn fat!! (as long its not vegetable/hydrogenated/transfat)
I discovered the Atkins diet in my 20s and had great success in losing and maintaining my weight. Was also active and worked out with weights. Over the years, the low fat craze came around and I fell for it and put on 30 pounds. Then there was the saturated fat lie and I used margarine and stopped eating eggs. Over the years, whenever I went back to a higher fat, low-carb diet, I experienced weight loss success and better health. Now, at age 70, I’m getting healthy again using the knowledge that you (and some others, like Mark Hyman, Jason Fung and Dr. Berg) share. I walk and do light weight lifting (nothing too strenuous). Although my grass-fed meats cost a bit more, I save money because I’m eating less frequently. Sugar makes me super cranky and when I do occasionally eat it I feel tired and foggy. This way of eating is healthy, sustainable and life-changing!
I couldn’t believe my weigh in 87.7kg down from 102kg Staggering with only walking , still having a life , in around 4 months. Watching many Dr Berg videos and never been happier eating foods I love with no guilt. I am staggered with results. So happy thank you Dr Berg.

After one year being in ketosis and continue my fasting every day. After a year I sometimes need to force myself to eat because of vitamins and minerals. My brain has changed like the difference between day and night despite being a refractory epileptic for 28 years. Thanks Eric for your brilliant knowledge that you spread annually with such enthusiasm.
Thanks I'm so glad to have a chance at safe normal living with type one diabetes and understanding of how my food works on me without all the blurry hospital doctors guide lines
I really appreciate this video, my husband and I have been making mistakes. And a lightbulb has gone off and I now know how to correct what I’ve been doing wrong. Thank you for the eye-opener ❤ my husband has high triglycerides, so this video is extremely important to me
Good video except for a few things. We all have different insulin responses to different foods. There are plenty of studies with people using CGMs showing a huge variety of responses to exactly the same food. Any index is probably useless to some extent. The only way to see an individual's response is using a Continuous Glucose Monitor. And "keto" is not the end goal when fat burning. It's beta-oxidation of triglycerides. Ketones occur when mitochondrial flexibility of the Krebs cycle is sub optimal, and the adaption from burning carbs to burning fats has not fully developed.
But what about sprouted and soaked grain breads similar to nixtamalized corn? Total Fat 1g Sodium 170mg Total Carbohydrate 28g Dietary Fiber 3g Sugar 2g Protein 5g Calcium 20mg Iron 1.8mg Potassium 150mg
Hello, Dr. Berg. It's been two days since I started the keto diet. I'm actually feeling bad after a few hours of meal. Feeling bad at the moment, 11:50pm after I had dinner at 7pm. This morning I felt very tired when I woke up, fatigued. I didn't actually feel hungry but the tiredness really got me. Is this normal after stopping eating rice and sugars? I ate rice and bread my whole life, almost everyday. Here is what I ate in the last two days: breakfast - coffee (no sugar) with butter; lunch - salad, olive oil, apple vinegar, salt, fatty meat, mozzarella cheese (it's the cheapest here), 5 olives (i felt I needed more fat), water with 1 lemon and 1 apple cider vinegar tbsp; dinner - salad, olive oil, apple vinegar, salt, 4 eggs with mozzarella cheese, 5 olives, water with 1 lemon and 1 apple cider vinegar tbsp What might I be doing wrong? I don't eat stuff like avocado and nuts cause I'm almost sure they are expensive. Will add the bacon for the easy meat/fat combination. Cheese is expensive here in Brazil and at the moment it's tough adding it on my diet. What can I replace it with? What might be the consequences if I don't eat it? I think you recommended 2-3oz of each per meal on a video. I could afford to put it in my diet if I lower the amount. And how much olives should I eat? How about garlic? If I eat a clover will I break the fast?
You’re the best Dr. Berg! I think I heard one misspeak… you said egg white has no protein. I think you meant no fat! I’m obsessed with my chickens so I was listening carefully! 😉 Thanks so much for your education. Healing myself after a lifetime of thinking I was being as healthy as possible but I wasn’t 😢
Yes, I noted this too but seeing that the Dr has loved your comment meant that he acknowledged the fact. Anyways Thank you!!, Dr. Berg, for all the efforts that you constantly make to spread awareness.
@@muhammadqaiserkhan6598 Thank you! Yes, I would never try to correct Dr. Berg, I just thought he might want to know since he has such perfect videos! I bet he has great editors that can fix this easily. I especially like it when he says funny things like “icing on the cake!” Oops 😬
Wait so does fat spike insulin or is it protein that spikes insulin? Because he states at 4:49 he states Pecans spiking insulin because they DO have fat in them but immediately right after he says that Walnuts have less fat than Pecans which causes them to spike insulin higher than Pecans. So what's the truth? Does fat spike insulin or not? He contradicts himself here.If I have missed something or misunderstood, please let me know.
Dr.Berg is my hero....Thank you Dr. Berg. You have the guts to say the truth and when you discover that what you've been teaching is not exactly like that you will admit to the mistake and correct your self. I have been eating the Keto way of eating for 2 years. I have learned all from you.I was never fat. I eat healthy and exercise all my life. Me and my wife feel great. I have watched some 100 videos of yours. Pleas keep going even though the resent food crisis and politicians will be against you... Thank you...
I love dr. berg. he knows how to go around the mistakes has been done in past. I keep telling that since 10 years. Carbs are not bad as long as it is not processed.
I have watched all of Dr. Berg's videos on Net Carbs and in my opinion, he's done a great job and does it right. I cannot find the link (may have been Ken Berry, who I respect) but I saw a video in which a Keto advocate said that counting Net Cards was a cheat. In other words, do not calculate net carbs. So far I have found nothing on Dr. Berg's videos stating this, nor can I find a way to back that up with the science and math but there are people way smarter than promote Keto. Would like to see an episode addressing this at some point. Thanks Dr. Berg for the videos.
Having done these plans, I will say they do work.... BUT, speaking for myself my mood and energy felt extremely sensitive to the foods that I was eating.
Why is it necessary to be in ketosis? What significance does it(being in ketosis) have on health? If weight loss is not the goal, what is the benefit of being in ketosis? Tnx
From your teachings previous understanding that an insulin, I kind of knew this. But I’m truly truly grateful and thankful that you made a video understanding how to buffer Sugars and control insulin. These are great tools and it empower you understanding what you know and how to eat. Thank you once again
Wow a few years ago I was told if you ate protein first, as in your first bite, carbs in your meal will not trigger insulin… thank you for debunking that
Always choose a high quality whey that doesn’t have any fillers. Lots of them only come with stevia, (sometimes also contain Sucralose) and what I hate is ones that contain Sucralose and Ace-K. The protein powders I use don’t have maltodextrin thankfully. I would like to see you do a video on artificial sweeteners in foods and beverages
I’m actually thankful I started to gain weight and was feeling like crap because that forced me to take charge of my health and began my research. Now I can actually guide people who like are struggling like me and share the information I’ve been learning from wonderful sources like Dr. Berg. Thank you Dr.Berg for you content 🙏🙏
I eat 400gr of carbs and doing great (bloodwork, vitality, muscles, performance etc). Keto is suboptimal for gym performance and i train 6x a week very intensly
High blood glucose blocks ketosis, but insulin by itself does not block ketosis. Insulin lowers blood glucose. Hence the amino acid, L-leucine, which raises insulin and lowers blood glucose, is considered ketogenic.
This is extremely interesting. My understanding has always been each must be consumed separately. That glycemic list is really a surprise. Curiosity question: is tuna in oil better for us? I'm definitely going to try changing my game.
Meat (with a big emphasis on fatty ribeye), salmon, bacon, eggs, butter, avocado, cruciferous veggies, cheese, EVOO, avocado oil, heavy cream. These ingredients in some combination or another, make up about 95% of all my home-prepared meals. The other 5% is dedicated to the occasional snacking, primarily consisting of macadamia nuts, olives, or dill pickles. I'm usually doing OMAD or 2MAD at most, and I often fast for 30-48 hours at least once every 2-3 weeks. My A1c has dropped from 6.8 to 5.3, and I suspect continues to go lower. Plus my blood panels have never been better. This entire formula is what works for me and has for almost two years. Will it work for you? That's a question only you can address, but I'll bet big time it will.
I have had a hard time lately since taking Whey Protein. Good news is that I don't need to lose weight but the bad part is that I like the feeling of Ketosis. Figuring this out is tough.
Wow this came out at the right time!, i recently switched to doing omad but i was making the mistake of having an inch thick steak for dinner as apart of my meal, I hadn't considered the extra protein would spike my insulin... Ill definitely get my steaks cut thinner from now on.
You should watch his video on protein intake. If you're doing OMAD you can get away with eating more protein since you're only eating one meal. Also if you're an active person you can also eat more protein. It's explained in that video. I also do OMAD.
I’m not an expert of any kind but I was having mild problems with my sinuses, I’m 59 female and I’ve been on keto for around four months, went on it to lose weight and didn’t realise nor truly believe how many other benefits I would feel. I’m not saying it will definitely help you but my sinuses and neuralgia symptoms have vastly improved, I’m able to breathe much better and that clogged up feeling I had at the back of my nose has almost gone. I have so much energy and my body feels what I can only describe as “an all over lightness” think back to how you feel in your twenties and thirties - that’s how good it is. Try it, you’ve got nothing to lose 😊 x good luck x
@@DottyGran247 Thank you soo much for your kind information,😊 but i am 20 years old and i also have underweight problem that's why i afraid, doing keto diet 😥
Keto is great for loosing weight but in the long run proteins should be prioritized regardless of its effect on insulin. Lack or minimal intake of proteins have adverse effects on muscle mass and bone structure. Eating meat + fat has minimal or moderate affect on insulin.
Okay, I get it. Fat and fiber moderate a protein derived insulin response, which is to get us to think about not just counting carbs. But two questions. With a now turned aggressive autoimmune disease, polymyositis, that is ravaging my muscles, I'm trying carnivore in addition to prolonged fasting to slow the process. Will the high protein intake with increased fat spike insulin as well and contribute to further muscle inflammation? And given that so much olive oil is cut with seed oils, wouldn't tuna in water still be a better overall choice than tuna in oil...assuming eating tuna at all were a decent choice? Thanks for all you do, Dr. Berg. After a horrendous year of a debilitating health collapse that also included the cutting and burning of cancer, you and your holistic RUclips colleagues are now my last line of defense (along with prayer).
Hi doctor ❤️ from India, please make a video on eating 7-8 mixed roasted seeds and their merits and demerits , right time to eat,how to eat, when to eat and when not ,etc
I have my protein shake after my workouts and it makes me feel great. I see no negative part on it…my metabolism accepts it perfectly well and I have no insuline resistance at all. It is also true I do not eat more than 3 times a day.
Nice! I lost 103lbs, but quite frankly it was by brute force. At least now we know that there are some things we can eat. I was sick from food so much of the time that it was pretty obvious that I couldn't eat carbs, fructose, some meats, but at least other people are saying it now. And that said I couldn't eat everything others said I could eat either. He's pretty close though. Unless you have allergies and other things going on too.
It is relieving to know that fat and fiber can act as buffers for the digestion of food. It does seem to make it easier to fast longer compared to low fat.
I have a question....how bad is doing 3 hours of hiit workout per week? My husband says it causes arthritis, problems with joints. Is it true? Thank you
I'm so guilty of this mistake. I have a beautiful salad adding lots of flavors as garlic powder maybe onion powder other herbs be totally satisfied then steak. But in my head no matter the size I eat it. My point is I take forever to eat my steak so I don't focus on the size as much as I probably should. I'm probably eating to much protein then I should be
It would be interesting to see your view of nutrition when it comes to gaining/retaining muscle while having the lowest possible insulin in your body. When I'm cutting fat down I try to have the lowest insulin, but it's hard to reach protein requirements to avoid muscle loss without having lean protein or whey protein which spikes insulin :). I risked my time and trainings because I never had carbohydrates since I started to see your channel back in 2014, and I look really fit.
I find it effortless to get abundant protein, which is not lean protein. An example of what I eat many days is a pound of grass fed ground beef 85/15 which has about 100 grams of protein, undrained (keep the fat). I'm a smaller woman, so a man who needs 200 grams could eat two pounds of ground beef. Or a dozen eggs and a couple cans of sardines is about 100 grams for me. Or I eat a pound of cheese, about 100 grams of protein. Maybe two pounds of cheese is a bit much for anyone, but combine one pound of cheese with a dozen eggs... a big man's protein needs done for the day. I'm baffled why anyone would ever choose whey protein over real food. Even if you can't afford that much beef, the eggs and cheese have got to be cheaper than protein powder.
this! if anyone has any alternative suggestions let me know please:) i eat whole nutritious foods but i’d like atleast one protein drink to down because eating and cooking is time consuming for my schedule.
Dr. Berg, can people lose weight by reducing carbs only, or is losing weight impossible unless a calorie deficit is created? I know that counting calories and creating a calorie deficit works from personal experience. Please make a video on this topic if you can. Can you have an over abundance of calories but since low carbs then lose weight? Very curious to know. Thanks Dr. Berg!
I tried to do keto and my cholesterol skyrocketed. I have a strong family hx of heart problems and my doctor didn't want me on keto. I also have significant gallstones. How do I get some of the benefits without eating so much fat?

Hello, Dr.
Here is what I ate in the last two days:
breakfast - coffee (no sugar) with butter;
lunch - salad, olive oil, apple vinegar, salt, fatty meat, mozzarella cheese (it's the cheapest here), 5 olives (i felt I needed more fat), water with 1 lemon and 1 apple cider vinegar tbsp;
dinner - salad, olive oil, apple vinegar, salt, 4 eggs with mozzarella cheese, 5 olives, water with 1 lemon and 1 apple cider vinegar tbsp
What might I be doing wrong?
Thanks so much for your education.
Mandatory for most for being in ketosis is going with carbs below 25, better 20%, 70% to 80% fats, rest proteins. Really simple.
Thank you so much, Dr. Berg! This is very helpful information, as always!
Glad to hear that! You're very welcome!
Having done these plans, I will say they do work.... BUT, speaking for myself my mood and energy felt extremely sensitive to the foods that I was eating.
Indeed I feel lucky that I found this channel.better late than never ❤
Why is it necessary to be in ketosis? What significance does it(being in ketosis) have on health? If weight loss is not the goal, what is the benefit of being in ketosis? Tnx
From your teachings previous understanding that an insulin, I kind of knew this. But I’m truly truly grateful and thankful that you made a video understanding how to buffer Sugars and control insulin. These are great tools and it empower you understanding what you know and how to eat. Thank you once again
This is excellent because eating fiber helps with keto constipation and digestion as this is an issue I'm battling with from low carb keto
I find drinking olive oil mixed with water before each bowel movement works very well.
You are brilliant! Thank you for spreading the TRUTH, Dr. B! You ROCK! #themoreyouknow #facts #if #keto #maltodextrinisevil
Wow a few years ago I was told if you ate protein first, as in your first bite, carbs in your meal will not trigger insulin… thank you for debunking that
Insulin index my new think to start looking at in food
Tha you so much Dr. Berg, I was just concentrating on carbs, I forgot all about the protein, fat, and fiber, 😊
Protein is NOT a problem on keto for healthy people. BUT if you have DBT2 or metabolic syndrome, in those cases be limited on protein as well.
Too much knowledge in this channel, thank you too much, I feel so grateful to hear those
I’m actually thankful I started to gain weight and was feeling like crap because that forced me to take charge of my health and began my research. Now I can actually guide people who like are struggling like me and share the information I’ve been learning from wonderful sources like Dr. Berg. Thank you Dr.Berg for you content 🙏🙏
never felt better ,only wish I could find I Dr. on my plan who was on the same page
Dr Berg has taught me so much!
Forever grateful!
I tell everyone about him.
always great info but volume still low. thanks!
Dr Berg Chanel is gold, thank you doctor and God bless you ❤️
This is extremely interesting.
That's a question only you can address, but I'll bet big time it will.
this is the best one you ever made !!! .... thnx al !!!
This is very interesting. I've been eating tuna that was in water and low-fat milk.
Dr.eric berg are the keto helpful for reverse sinus inflammation.
You can use RUclips just type in Dr Berg Sinus inflammation

Thank you doc for your help/advices

Thanks doc..
Thanks for watching!
Yes, I have found that I need to watch my protein consumption. Very low carb, now, and moderate protein, and still hard to get and stay in ketosis
Please tell us about dry beans and lentils peas good to eat

Can you do an episode on apricot kernel benefits
Keto is great for loosing weight but in the long run proteins should be prioritized regardless of its effect on insulin. Lack or minimal intake of proteins have adverse effects on muscle mass and bone structure. Eating meat + fat has minimal or moderate affect on insulin.
Great as always, but at 5:15 it's a mistake. Egg white has no fat that's the reason why GI is higher than yolks.😉
There is something else in the alcohol that is a problem......the alcohol 🤣
It cracked me up when you said "forced to eat ice cream"! 😆 Too funny!
That was funny...😆😅🤣
Thank you!! Dr. Berg for your time.
It's always a great pleasure!

The ease at which the science is explained here is excellent.
Completely off topic but please Dr Berg, do a video on how to whiten sclera and sort watery rheumy eyes...please!
I have my protein shake after my workouts and it makes me feel great. I see no negative part on it…my metabolism accepts it perfectly well and I have no insuline resistance at all. It is also true I do not eat more than 3 times a day.
Thanks so much for educating us!
My pleasure, anytime!
Can you heal celiac disease? Thanks
Is it true? Thank you
Now I’m still not clear on why I shouldn’t count carbs (net carbs, of course)
I'm so guilty of this mistake. I have a beautiful salad adding lots of flavors as garlic powder maybe onion powder other herbs be totally satisfied then steak. But in my head no matter the size I eat it. My point is I take forever to eat my steak so I don't focus on the size as much as I probably should. I'm probably eating to much protein then I should be
Can you do a video on keto alternative foods and snacks? I would like a review of magic spoon cereal.
Ray Peat Carrot Salad, butter coffee, egg yolks, sardines (?). Would this be a satisfactory diet for keto?
Not an expert but I would say that is very good eating for keto!
Yeah I'd like a video on that
this! if anyone has any alternative suggestions let me know please:) i eat whole nutritious foods but i’d like atleast one protein drink to down because eating and
cooking is time consuming for my schedule.
@@dmtbreakthrough "i’d like atleast one protein drink to down" ... raw eggs in a glass.
Red wine vs white wine for keto?
If I’m not keto and therefore fuel off of carbs. What number of daily carbs should I eat if I want to maintain my weight.
What are the numbers indicate?the insulin number need to be low?
Wow…. Such an amazing information ! Thank you Dr. Berg.
You're very welcome! Glad you like the video!
Thanks Dr. Berg!
