The sad thing is that many people believe that they are eating healthy food, when they're not. I was one of those people. Breakfast was whole-wheat bran flakes, with sugar-free muesli - healthy right? Lunch consisted of a cheese sandwich on whole-wheat nutty brown bread - healthy right? Dinner was meat with two veg - plus two slices of whole-wheat nutty brown bread - healthy right? In desperation, dinner eventually became one bowl of HEALTHY soup, with two slices of whole-wheat nutty brown bread - and then I noticed that the soup contained wheat flour! For 15 years, this was my pattern and I was getting heavier and heavier. But keto, with Intermittent Fasting fixed everything and caused massive weight loss. I will be forever thankful for the information on this channel!
@@damariszuckschwert9489 -- There are several people specifically that I want to share this information with. I'll need to wait until the results are impressive and apparent - then I'll tell them I'll share it with them WHEN THEY'RE READY. Like the method for teaching swimming where you throw someone in the water saying "how badly do you want to live?" When you're so tired of being overweight and out of shape - and the associated depression and other mental health problems that you want to kill yourself, then you're ready to do whatever it takes. I tried pretty much everything that's been in vogue since the mid 80's -- grapefruit diet, cabbage diet, etc etc, and saw only small and temporary successes -- and yes I exercised, too. I actually thought keto and omad would be a huge challenge, especially tapering off to one meal a day, but in reality it was no problem at all for me. A piece of cake, you might say. But it's hard to convince others it will be easier than it sounds. ahh, didn't intend to write all that -- thanks for letting me share.

I have WATCHED THIS VIDEO multiple times on my journey of weight loss and health. It just keeps me on the right track, reminds me, reconfirms my actions, and keeps me confident I'm on track. I'm winning for once. I have no more cravings, can fast longer, mostly understand my bodies needs.
"Get healthy to lose weight ". For the 1st time ever I applied that to my life. I lost 100 lbs and I'm off all meds and I've never felt better. I just followed Dr Bergs guidance. Thanks brother !!!
My mum is 82 and very active, has ideal weight, moves a lot, has a healthy diet, totally disciplined in her lifestyle to stay in top form, and all that came a bit later in her life but it's never too late! Thank you for sharing this observation. I experience the metallic taste in the morning sometimes. Today, I'm day 8 on keto and IF and have not experienced it. I'm wondering now if the metallic taste comes from carb and/or sugar consumption.
@@mariesmith504 I think someone said it's linked to Kidneys or LIver. I had the taste all the time when I was insulin resistant. I posted this comment 2 months ago, and still doing Keto. And honestly I haven't had ONE "metalic taste" morning for about 2 months. Even if I forget to brush my teeth some nights. So Keto has DEFINITELY stopped it. In fact my overall gum health is just better.
My results are over 3 months and not as dramatic as yours, but the effects have been positive. Fasting Glucose levels are almost normal again (they were like quadruple what they should have been. Down to 118 mg/dL today after an initial diagnoses of diabetes 2 months ago with a fasting glucose of 300 mg/dL. All of my other metrics have moved back into green, except Hdls. I need to get them up. They dropped in the beginning of the diet surprisingly, but I am eating a lot more pro-HDL foods, and I haven't had it measured again yet.
At age 57 I was able to lose 56.5 lbs within 6 months……just in time for a global pandemic and quarantine starting March 2020. I did ok and maintained 50 lbs weight loss until fall 2020; however, mentally and emotionally it all began to tear-down my resolve. I made a conscious decision to “give myself some grace” in dealing with how our world had changed (as well as several family losses NOT due to the virus). Well, it’s a year later and I’m carrying 40 lbs of “grace” and I’ve had about 40 “day 1 of keto”, even got 5.5 weeks into a fresh start and the mental part of getting back to health is my biggest challenge. But I recall how utterly awesome I felt when my body was healthy and slender! That hasn’t left me. So I will keep at it. Your videos mean so much to help me stay focused. At the minimum at least I know from experience what to do. Aligning head and heart should be so easy. But it isn’t.
Oh my gosh SAME HERE. Posted above about gaining 7 lbs since my birthday on Nov. 13 and bad habits, choices are snowballing. I know I can't get myself right on my own..I'm 52 and been overweight since age 5 so its a chronic issue. I pray you and I both get our heads straight...seems to me thoughts are the biggest hurdle. 🙏🙏
@@jenjen7728 Isn’t it odd how we can sabotage ourselves, as if punishment is a reasonable response to feeling like things are out of our control? I hadn’t seen that weight in early 2020 since my 20s (I was 203 lbs June 30, 2019 and lost 56.5 by March 2020). And it felt effortless! I knew I wanted to learn to eat intentionally. But I apparently stopped at that giving myself “permission” to undo the progress I made. I am resisting the urge to demean myself, it was my choice. But it does slowly sneak-up, a pound-at-a-time. And then baboom, I’m feeling I don’t recognize the person I was 12 months ago. A step-at-a-time is how I started summer of 2019. And it’s the same path to health once again. You can, WE can, choose to start again! Oh, one of my closest friends shares your birthdate!
In the beginning I'm strugguling to do the intermidiate fasting. I just do healthy keto. Then i can slowly reduced to 2 meals a day. It was took me around 3 months time. Then started last saturday, i'm able to do fasting more then 3 days time without feeling hungry✌🏻. I just drink green tea(without caffine), wheat glass juice powder(dr. Berg) and sea salt.
@@joeyleepuiling5258 Thank you for sharing this! It’s funny as in this journey there are several ways to get back on track and I find I can easily do a 16-19 hour fast right away day after day. And there are results right away. It’s a great building block. It makes me realize how our eating is by the clock and the hardest thing to do can be eating when we choose. From starting school, then work. It is all decided for us “when” to eat. I need to try extending my fasting time as you have!
Exact same thing happened to me. I curse the pandemic-it messed up my eating patterns and I fell down the carb/sugar/fat hole. I'm the heaviest I've been in 15 years.
I've been a diabetic since my 20s (Type 2), I'm now 50 and I'm invested to make this change for good. Thank you Dr. Berg for all this information. No more cheat days, not even for the Holiday. Started August 1st, 2021 and still going. Down over 20lbs, feeling more energy, mood has improved, my eye sight has improved, thinking is better and I just feel healthier overall. Keep me in your prayers.
@Maria Garza A low-carb lifestyle has helped improve my inslin sensitivity along with intermittent fasting. My blood glucose stays within range compared to when I first started.
Dr. Berg, your video of quitting sugar for two weeks has transformed my life!!! I am down 20 lbs in 4 weeks!!! You are amazing, and my daughter and I cannot thank you enough!!!
Dr. Berg is spot on when he says you loose water weight then plateaus and grow muscles. I am going through this phase right now. I lost 7lbs in 2 weeks, no exercise, just on the keto diet, and haven’t been able to lose anymore weight since. My belly shrunk and I am seeing more muscle growth like he said. This guy knows his stuff. We appreciate you Dr. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Many of us began Healthy Keto/IF for severe stress or depression, losing weight is a side affect. I did and my severe depression lifted within two weeks, and continued to go away weekly, I felt like a new person by the end of the second month. It might sound like a lot of work to eat a Keto/IF lifestyle but it's so much easier just eating real food, stay away from prepackaged food, and it's very worth it, the body will detox many toxins on it's own. Feeling like a million bucks again is priceless.
I recommend 30 days before you will see results because that's what happened with me. It was crazy how the fat melted off once I was engaged for 30 days the weeks that followed 5 lbs per week on average for weight loss.
By cutting my sugar consumption down to next to nothing, weeding out processed foods, and exercising daily, I saw a pound or two and a better complexion sooner than that.
I’d say the 5 lbs a week is wonderful but don’t be disappointed if it drops down to 1-2 lbs a week. That means you’ve reached a point where your insides are healthy and now you’re losing weight like a healthy person.
Thank you. After falling off for a few days I hit a plateau and couldn't lose. I was losing a pound a week. Now going to start again and wait for 30 days before I hope for results.
I know I’ve said this before Dr Berg, but you were a huge inspiration for me to start my weight loss channel. After years of struggling with overeating and depression, I’m finally getting my weight under control. I’m now down 31lbs in 15 days, and feeling more optimistic than ever. Just want to say thank so much. Watch this space! 😊💪🏾
Hi im Marlene from south africa, i just started this diet 2 weeks ago and already lost over 2kg. I don't feel hungry, already seeing a decrease needed in my meds. Cut down on meds as sugar levels are dropping. Very happy, thank you Dr Berg!!!
I'm 31 and just started keto, to gain weight and cut sugar out of my diet because of family health problems..so far in the week I've done it,I have gained a little over a pound. I've always had a slim build and I'm looking to bulk up a bit. Blood sugar issues and kidney problems is what made me look into the keto diet. So far,so good.
I followed your keto plan Dr. Berg, not really for weight loss, but for health, I was already athletic, after 6 months I lost 15lbs of the little fat I had and muscles, but I felt good and energized, especial on OMAD, but too many complaints from the wife, saying I look like a skeleton, but I felt better than I did for years, I'm 52 and was working out twice a day, too much cardio I think, so I'm going to do 2 meals a day, but staying on keto , it's feels really great to be in ketosis, thank you for the inspiration
If you're trying to put on muscle you can even scale it up to 3 meals a day. 4-6 eggs in morning, 8-12 oz burger for lunch, 8-12 oz salmon for dinner, of course with 7-10 cups of veg each day
Honestly my hunger and cravings have gone, my mood is up, I’m calmer emotionally. I’m still surprised, well slightly shocked by it. I love it. Thank you Dr Berg.
I'm 58 and had a huge beer gut and bad knees that forced me to stop work, I started keto in January 2021and by July I'd lost 80lbs, I went from a 42 waist (my belt line was under my big gut) and ended up being a true 34 waist. I went back to work and just wear a light knee brace now.
Thoughts on Cheat Days: even if it’s a cheat bite, meal or day, it can easily turn into a cheat weekend, week, month. And, remember as contemplating a cheat of any size, remember how you wanted to get into ketosis and the difficulty when first limiting carbs. Think of this and if cheating is worth the days it may take to return to ketosis. I visualize weighing the want of the benefits a cheat on one hand (short term), and the want of the benefits of ketosis (long term) on the other.
I know my personality and my weak points. It is BEST for me not to cheat. Hubby and daughter ordered pizza. I thought just one slice, after one bite, I thought my heart will be racing after this and my BP will soar. I put the pizza back and ate something else that was more healthy. I started in Sept but changed eating habits to "clean" eating about 3 years ago. It's working for me. My goal is as I age, 68 now, to not take any meds.....My food is my meds:)
Amen. It costs me 3 days. I have a calendar and I plot out my weight loss weekly. When I stay on track, it can predict it. So when I see that I missed out on 5lbs of weight loss because I cheated, it burns.
Agreed , If I cheat it becomes a land slide for me . For me keto is a new way of living, investigating keeping it healthy , it's been a struggle . I'm finding it frustrating that weight loss is bouncing around . But I'm going to focus and stay the course . Thank you for sharing these videos . I'm empowered by the knowledge I've gained by watching your videos Dr. Berg , you are the best . Love the analogy of the cheat day , priceless ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm learning so much from you! Day 4 on keto for me. Trying to reduce weight, correct sugar cravings and ease my severe fibromyalgia symptoms. I'm addicted to your channel! Blessings from the UK 🇬🇧 🙏
I hope you do kale shakes. All that potassium is key to cravings. I buy organic kale In a bag. Freeze it add to blender coconut cinnamon I put a little vanilla extract if I have any little nutmeg dash turmeric seasalt ginger. Cover with distilled water if you use that. I do because I make my own. Play with what tastes good to you oh and definitely add lemon even lemon peel because of all the benefits of the peel. Do your research.
Fantastic! Answered 6 of my questions 😊 and yes inches over weight. I've been doing this for 2 weeks, lost 5 lbs but also lost 13 inches!! And also notice less chronic pain.
I had to go watch this again now that I am 3 weeks into HEALTHY Keto to make sure I am doing it right. I am 56 and had Hodgkin's Lymphoma twice in my 20's. I had my spleen removed, and my body has been radiated from head to legs causing residual problems. I have fatty liver disease, chronic sinus issues, fatigue, depression, and now the last couple of years...IBS and 23 polyps in my colon were removed last year. The medicine from my gastroenterologist was not working, so I had to take 2 Immodium a day and Pepto Bismol just to leave my house to do anything. I haven't taken anything in over 2 weeks, my weight is coming off slowly, and I am not spending days in the bathroom until I am bleeding. I had given up on ever feeling better! I am actually looking forward to my blood work and Mammogram to see if I have an improvement in all of it. If you have any inflammatory issues, this is the right plan. I still have a long way to go, but I am starting to feel well enough to live my life again, including hitting the trails beyond my home. THANK YOU! My goal is still weight loss, but also to make smart choices for life.
I started keto omad cold turkey 15-20 days ago now. This video just answered at least half a dozen questions/concerns ive had. So happy i started, my diet was not as good as i thought, and I had lyme disease that almost killed me. I saw a local holistic dr that helped me with the lyme to the point i believe its gone, and your videos have put me in such a better place than i was two months ago. I have energy and focus now, weight is dropping, im toning out and i feel like a man again. So fortunate i found the right people cause i was ready to throw in the towel and im only 32. Roughest couple years of my life.
I'm one of those "healthy" people that went into Keto and it just shredded my remaining fat in the first week. I'm where I wanted to be for years and I just keep seeing positive changes. I started fasting for 18 hours, then moved to 21 hours a day. I eat from 3 to 6 and drink lemon water, and water for the rest of the day. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but I came into this prepared. NO cheat days. Know your goal. Picture your body and how you want it and PUSH THROUGH. Thank you Dr. Berg
I was just in Sam's club looking at the Atkins' bars and I noticed most of what Dr Berg mentioned here. I had an employer that was on the Atkins'diet and I explained to him how it's not as good as his doctor sold him on, he sounded receptive, but had that defeated tone in his voice. I don't think he wanted to put effort into his diet anymore. He was over it. On the flip side, I'm a trucker and I lost 30 lbs with keto and intermitted fasting without exercise, due to how often I'm sleeping or driving. I also told my chiropractor of Dr Berg and Dr Ken Berry. He sounds very receptive. My brother and I are going to turn our carbs down to zero with the carnivore diet for the month on January. Then, ease back into ketovore. I'm looking forward to the challenge.
I started reading labels a long time ago and I virtually don’t purchase anything prepackaged, processed, or pre-made anything. I buy fresh or frozen meats and prepare all my meals at home. That way know what im getting and I control what goes in my food. It’s frustrating buying food that has so many unnecessary extra ingredients. These are all great tips. Learning more and more!
Dr. Berg, thank you for doing these videos.. for once I found someone I feel I can trust. You don’t charge me for information that can save my life. THANK YOU SO MUCH With your help I have dropped my cholesterol from 271 to 158! And now I’m going on a ketone intermittent fasting to get my weight and waistline in shape!
I've been on intermittent fasting (20/4) and keto for almost 2 month. I've dropped my 4 kilos of weight water the first week and then NOTHING for 3 weeks. I was a little disappointed. I was searching online for weightloss stories to keep me motivated, I saw people losing so much weight on the first month, I was thinking "why not me???" I kept going, because aside the weight, everything was getting better, my hunger, my mood, my digestion, my sleep... And one day, after 3 weeks, the weight began to drop magically. I'm 8kg down today. This kind of information helped me to keep going, thank you Dr!!
VERY GOOD Dr Berg. #1 read ingredients, been doing this for many years being I worked for a Chiropractor Physician many years ago and he was ahead of his time. He told me in the 80's that if I wanted to continue my education, he told me to go for nutriention , he told me that will be the Doc of the future, still much to learn. What he taught me still holds true today. Now learning exactly what I'm reading. Thank you for many useful updates. As far as women and men, I learned that, the thinnest women stores more fat than a man who may be slightly overweight. As far as a cheat day, LOL !! 🙂👍
Omg I started this plan and then noticed my husband was losing 5ibs and I was only losing 1lb per week. I also used to lose a lot of weight in a few days in my 40’s! Now late 50’s it seems to be really slow. I stopped. Thank you for these pointers I’m starting again knowing I’m doing the right things. Thank you 😊
I used Atkins bars in the beginning of my keto journey just to get me thru the after dinner habit of a sweet..i wasn’t eating clean at the beginning but worked my way there .. a crutch or two to keep the carbs at bay won’t kill you. Now I don’t need that stuff💜
@@lightbeingpontifex yeah- it’s definitely not a healthy choice, but I used it for a short period to get me over the sugar hump...haven’t eaten any of that stuff in a couple of years.

I went from 87.318kg (13.7st) to 67.586kg (10.6st) in 8 months using Dr. Eric Bergs advice 👍 Total of 20kg / 3.1st lost in 8 months. Once you're a month or two in, the cravings were totally gone and the internal disappointing of wasting all of the initial effort kept me from nibbling any carbs. It really helped with my mental health too.
I’m new to the Keto diet, I started about a week ago and have already lost 11 lbs. I know a lot was water weight but I can already see ketosis setting in, headaches and the infamous flu have set in but only last about an hour and then I feel great, honestly I’m so happy I found this channel and am hoping it can change things around for my health! Thank you for all this amazing info!! 💕
Your anti cheat day stance was hysterical. I do allow myself some carbs on the weekend. I'll try to think of your "cheat days don't work in marriages or diets" next time I think about eating those carbs. Let's see if it works.
Thank you for this video. I’ve been on keto and IF for 2 months and I’ve had good results but I was also setting unrealistic expectations wanting quicker results.

@Dr. Eric Berg DC 0:36 You said the Atkins bar could have traces of Glyphosate, is this "Because" it is GMO? or because of the Soy protein itself? Does all foods GMO come with high risk of Glyphosate? Just taking notes and trying to figure out what on the label is a clue to the Glyphosate, the soy protein isolates or because soy protein isolate is GMO and GMO = probable Glyphosate? The biggest keto mistake I made was eating too little carbs. I was losing so much weight, ppl thought I was sick. So I incorporated more food in the day with more carbs. But I still avoid sugars.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that keeps clothes from yonks ago in the hope of getting back into them! I've only started this diet a week ago and still learning and watching videos..... But I certainly feel as if somehow things are moving in the right direction inside of me and so keep up the good work and let's remember that it took years to destroy the working of our inner parts and to be kind to whatever it takes to bring them back to function properly 😁!
You are awesome Dr. Berg, I have watched hundreds of hours on keto from numerous resources and absolutely love it as a lifestyle. This puts it all together and I truly appreciate you.
Thank you for this video! My pronunciation is "maltofatrine". It drives my mom crazy, because she thinks maltodextrine is a great way to reduce calories. She's right, it does. But, maltodextrine is used to create hunger for those with anorexia nervosa, AND it is in all products designed to create mass gain... Basically, synthetic products designed to make you pack on pounds. And, it works. I cut out the maltodextrine, and I'm never hungry.
So far losing 1lb per week. 59 years-old, 5'6", start; 148 lbs, waist 35". 4 weeks into it, 144 lbs, 34" waist. Goal 135 lbs, 32" waist. No cheat days. Started OMAD in week 2.
This is a great list and really matched my learning curve when I started Keto. I'm at the point now when I don't even pick up something in the grocery if it says 'keto' on it as they're almost always not keto friendly.

He is sooooooo right about getting healthy first!!!! I struggled with this part. I did keto before and it fell off. That was 10 years before. I spent 10 years drinking booze and eating like crap. My body was trashed!!!! It took a good month before things really started moving. Be patient.
I have learned so much.... I have lost weight but my goal is to be healthy after having cancer cut out. I am amazed and so so happy and greatful. My children are following you and your healthy lifestyle.
on point for #11 for me, I suspected a few times later when I was gaining muscle and feeling not losing weight. But then, when I stopped working out for like 3 days, weight dropped dramatically like 2 to 3 pounds. I realized it could be my muscles and I didn't make that mistake. I kept doing keto + IF + light workout. Thank you for verifying, doc.
I think 1 thing is missing. Too much exercise.. been on the Keto diet lost 10kg the first 3weeks without exercising.. but later added exercise every day and my weight loss stopped felt bloated, light headed, I watched one of your videos about exercise... and I just stopped exercising after a week my weight loss progressed.. been on Keto for 5months now and I have lost over 60kg so happy thanks for your great videos dr Berg...life changing.
I love his question to Karen about a cheat day!!🤣😂I have lost inches galore but no more weight loss and I am glad for that. In the beginning I lost 14 pounds and never lost anymore weight. But I have not done 100% Keto either.
I am thrilled, I have my face back, I was not overweight, lots of friends and family said it really suits you, big but, I hated the extra pounds, especially on fotos my face I couldn’t really recognize me anymore, now I can through intermediate fasting and Keto!
There's so much integrity in your vids. Thanks lots Dr Berg! This is my problem. I have never been overweight ever. But I got lots of belly fats. I know this doesn't add up but this is why I got interested in your vids. I bloat easily as wel maybe because I ate frequently. I started doing intermittent fasting and semi keto diet. After a couple months of doing this my weight dropped from 37.5 to 35.5 kgs. This isn't my intention to lose anymore weight. My ideal body weight is -/+10% 44 kgs. Should i find this concerning? The bloating decreased though.
I really appreciate Dr. Berg's videos. He gets to the point quickly, no fluffs, and explains things so concisely. I have been on keto for about a month. When I started keto, I was only slightly overweight but now my BMI is in the normal range. I stlll want to shed a few more pounds. I'm so grateful that Dr. Berg shares his knowledge with us so generously.
Been following you for years. And been trying to fast too and yes IF really works, but right I stop..its good to continue it when it really works.. I was diagnosed with ITP and IF renew our cells.. I hope you can make a topic with it Doc. I appreciate all your videos.it helps me a lot.
Great video!! Your videos inspire me and wished I had seen them last year when I started my "correction process". I had to learn a lot of things the hard way through it..but I am glad that I stayed pretty close to the right line of thought and caution before I discovered your channel. I am 45 this year and a former 11B. I have always been pretty well toned but when my 40s came, I started paying for habits a lot worse..and found weight was coming to me faster and was harder to get rid of. When I hit 240 last year I had had enough..and flipped overnight to serving sizes and throwing out anything junk.... In about 3 1/2 to 4 months I was down to 190lbs and back into boxing and working out. It was nice going from a 42 waist to a 34. As far as a "cheat day"... I have one every week (tonight actually) where I have my bowling league... These nights I go in on a pitcher of beer with 2-3 others and sometimes I will get an order of fries or a chicken wrap. I basically skip breakfast and have a salad...literally lettuce and low whatever dressing (1 serving on that btw) to prepare for my bowling night. I guess to many...a "cheat day" is that day where you kind of indulge or you let yourself off the leash for a meal and eat something you normally wouldn't.. Last year when I lost my 50lbs in 3mos on the Keto etc... I would do an enchiladas Friday every other Friday from my favorite Abuelo's. I wasn't able to eat the whole meal because I would get full on 1 enchilada and some of the rice and beans....but it was delicious and that Friday was nice to look forward to as a "reward" for staying in my groove. Eventually I got to where I skipped those cheat days altogether...but would sneak one in once in a rare while. It helped a lot as far as motivation for sure....as it helped me regulate my thought process sometimes... and allowed me to realize that I truly had the control over what I ate...the discipline to pass things up or just do what I wanted because I had no cravings.
Thank you Dr. I fell off the wagon after 2 years of success. Must follow you again. Clean keto is best. I currently am full of inflammation and very miserable. Thank you again.
No.15, you mentioned dizziness. Don't let that discourage your followers. When toxins (during fasting) enter the bloodstream we might feel dizzy. Don't eat, don't give up, just hold on for a few hours until the organism gets rid of garbage.
@@TheWayOfVRIL Nothing to do with fasting its about recognising when you need to eat and dizziness is a strong indicator. Of course it will go away if you do nothing your body will eventually produce enough ketones but it has nothing to do with toxins.
I've been doing this for a while and the tips that I needed to hear most were the last 2 reminders!! I REwatch certain Dr. Berg videos often, and this one will be on my list!
One question: how can I, as a post-menopausal woman without substitution, bring my hormones, especially progesterone, into balance? I would be grateful for an answer since I'm not in the US.
I got a macro app and it's a real eye opener when you actually start calculating your macros and weighing your portions...I'm down over 5lb in one week. I don't expect to loose that amount every week. I'm type 2 diabetic with normal glucose, I was on ozempic for a couple of months but now I'm off all meds except a small cholesterol as I have stents. Please can you do videos on: 1. Autumn winter keto diet what we can eat when we cannot buy or source salads easily? Meal plans for winters will help 2. PCOS video for keto weight loss - can we take Metformin on this keto diet and if we have weakness or tiredness what to do for low sugar cravings? 3. Is NIDO milk powder keto? 4. Which protein powders do you recommend available in UK? As we don’t get most of the USA products here 5. Can we consume lentils or daals as I read green mung, yellow mung can be consumed but not kidney beans, chickpeas etc so is there a list of lentils we can consume? 6. Other than berries can we have papaya pomegranate and other fruits? As I am very used to having lots of oranges and citrus fruit like grapefruit is grapefruit allowed?
Not that I advocate a vegan diet, but you have to admit, you'll never hear one say "I'm a vegan, but every Saturday I have a cheat day and eat a steak." I try keeping the same attitude. As for ingredients, the first hint that something is bad for the keto diet is on the front of the package: If it says "Keto Freindly", then it's probably not.
I’ve got a tip to help you use a lot less salad dressing! You could even start with just one tablespoon of dressing and put your salad in a very large bowl and toss with the dressing. It gets everywhere but it’s just a light coat. Hopefully this helps someone
Years ago I went on a diet that had me keep track of my carb consumption. I was only allowed to have 60 carbs per day. I did very well on the diet and lost the weight I needed to lose and kept it off! I like what you say Dr. Berg.
Almost the same with keto. Please see the videos below to know more about keto. ruclips.net/video/s5w-PyeJOrs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/bgD19482--Y/видео.html -Dr. Berg's Support Team
I haven't bought powdered protein so that's the only one I would of made a big keto mistake with. A few videos back you said it was best to avoid any sweeteners, so glad I do!!!
Hello, Dr. Berg! You are an inspiration for me, you are amazing and someday, I want to help people like you do! I just have one question. During this diet, can I drink apple vinegar? Does it have any benefits?
May God bless and protect you Dr. Berg! Since I did Keto and IF my gums are no longer swollen, improved eye sight and have more energy. Thanks for sharing with us your knowledge!
I LOVE how Dr. Berg is so caring with his audience`s wallets = he really tells us that we dont need to buy a ton of stuff but to follow reasoning, contrary to Thomas Delauer whose videos are always an Ad Bomb. Love Karen and dr. Berg so much
No cheat day lmao. I needed to hear that especially during the "holidays" . Keep going guys, don't worry about people judging you for your dedication to your diet.
I went grainless and sugar less and the weight loss and lack of bloating was immediate. I guess I was so unhealthy, now I don't feel pregnant every night after snacking. I also lost my appetite or addiction to sugar and bread after like 10 days. I thought it would be a lot of suffering and will power but nope I feel normal eating salads steak and cheese in 2 meals a day. I don't miss the muffins and sodas like I thought I would. Thanks Dr. Berg
You've taught me so much. Due to your info I've lost 30 lbs and reversed stage 3 hypertension. Ty dr!♡♡ I also feel so much better and my energy levels are great. Been on keto since March.
That cheat day scene with your wife was too funny! I actually started Keto and IF 4 days ago, with promising results regarding weight loss. I'm doing two meals a day, one meal at around noon, the other around 6 PM. Fasting the other 18 hours, and doing coconut oil in my coffees and teas. What you said about losing the fat in your liver (you can lose 50% of the fat in your liver in the first 14 days) is encouraging. I have fatty liver, and hoping I can correct a lot of the damage I've done through poor eating choices and sedentary lifestyle. I thank you for all you've done on this channel. Your way of Keto is a lot healthier than others because it really advocates for the use of a lot of vegetables.
@@penumbrazewolf I've been trying to get back on Keto the last couple days, and going to try to walk 30 minutes a day. Walked 30 mins yesterday, and forgot how much I need that. But all in all we're trying to get back in a groove with IF and Keto. Thanks for asking!
After watching all your videos and going on Facebook seeing posts and comments from the "keto groups". I've learned that these poor people are absolutely clueless. I'm constantly plugging your name in there. Because they just don't know. You're a godsend Dr Berg. Thank you. 😊
I did Keto for two years and just kept losing hair. I’m guessing it was my thyroid. I took so many supplements to try and correct the problem, I ate all of the right foods too, and I watched Berg and Boz. In the end I had to let it go. I returned to adding fruit and the hair loss stopped. I also felt less tired. I wish I could have cracked the code because there were so many wonderful things about Keto.
I've researched this, and it's important if you are a woman who still gets your cycle to feed progesterone the week before your period. Maybe some dark chocolate and small portions of nature's carbs :) Dr mindy pelz talks about a woman and fasting x
Thank you for this Dr Berg!! Very encouraging!!! I have done healthy keto and IF for a year and there have been dramatic changes in my health and appearance etc. However, reminders as you go are always needed!!!
Great information to know! Thank you so much for these videos! I've been able to keep my weight in check for well over a year now. I started fasting and keto and IF during Covid lockdown in March 2020 through October 2020. Outside gardening really helped from May through September keeping me moving and burning the fat. Now that winter is here, it's a little harder but I'm satisfied with where I am now in my lifestyle of one meal a day and lots of filtered water!
Thank you doctors Berg, I followed your advice every step I loose my belly fat , I am 63 years old and now I have 30years old body and have so much energy
I’m a Swede and we are very big fan of sauce. I can’t eat meat without sauce or like sourcreme/creme fraishe. Is sourcreme ok to eat? Or it is only healthy majonaise with like olive oil that you can eat?
I avoid most processed foods (keto type food bars). I have found pasta made from veggies. It acts like pasta, but is a veggie based pasta (0 carbs). Hubby and I go out to eat. Keto restaurants aren't easy to find. Cheat days might help, but they won't since I don't feel like exiting ketosis.
Thank you so much for your videos. I have had a complete mindshift about nutrition and it especially helps to understand how insulin works. I decided to try keto because I had extreme fatigue and brainfog. Now I feel so much better. I enjoy the keto foods. I have also lost about 6.5 kgs in 6 weeks. Previously my weight was just going up and up. Still need to work on better sleep.
So true. My local food store has a so called healthy section and basically there are zero healthy products in it if you investigate carefully.
When in doubt, I always refer to the official U.S. government Food Pyramid. (just kidding, now - but there was a time ...)
Even more sad because its hard to convince them otherwise

Thank you for sharing this observation. I experience the metallic taste in the morning sometimes. Today, I'm day 8 on keto and IF and have not experienced it. I'm wondering now if the metallic taste comes from carb and/or sugar consumption.
@@mariesmith504 I think someone said it's linked to Kidneys or LIver. I had the taste all the time when I was insulin resistant. I posted this comment 2 months ago, and still doing Keto. Pants falling off and diarrhea at the same time isn't a good combination 😂

But I apparently stopped at that giving myself “permission” to undo the progress I made. I am resisting the urge to demean myself, it was my choice. But it does slowly sneak-up, a pound-at-a-time. Dr. Berg is spot on when he says you loose water weight then plateaus and grow muscles. I am going through this phase right now. Muscle growth without exercise? What's propelling the growth?
Thank you so much for saying that. So glad I found this video so I don’t give up
I’d say the 5 lbs a week is wonderful but don’t be disappointed if it drops down to 1-2 lbs a week. That means you’ve reached a point where your insides are healthy and now you’re losing weight like a healthy person.
Thank you. After falling off for a few days I hit a plateau and couldn't lose. I was losing a pound a week. Now going to start again and wait for 30 days before I hope for results.

My cheat meal. was for two months 😁
She totally nailed it😅🤣🤣Loved it!!!
Amen. It costs me 3 days. I have a calendar and I plot out my weight loss weekly. When I stay on track, it can predict it. So when I see that I missed out on 5lbs of weight loss because I cheated, it burns.

THANK YOU SO MUCH
With your help I have dropped my cholesterol from 271 to 158! And now I’m going on a ketone intermittent fasting to get my weight and waistline in shape!
YOU win the AWARD for teaching the MOST CONCISE - STRAIGHT TO THE POINT VIDEO. This is incredible. I thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg the cheat day act out of Karen was priceless!! 😂😂😂 That's the best analogy for people justifying bread and pasta for girls' night out. 😝
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes! Priceless! I bursted out laugh!!! Good job Dr Berg, Karen! That's too funny!!
Lol! 😂
I've found it's pretty difficult to understand what women are thinking or trying to say. Was that a "no"?
Ok fine! I’ll stop cheating!! 😆😆😆
@@dougearnest7590 Go ahead if you want her chop it off. You see that blade?😂🤣
I've been on intermittent fasting (20/4) and keto for almost 2 month.
I've dropped my 4 kilos of weight water the first week and then NOTHING for 3 weeks.
I was a little disappointed.
I was searching online for weightloss stories to keep me motivated, I saw people losing so much weight on the first month, I was thinking "why not me???"
I kept going, because aside the weight, everything was getting better, my hunger, my mood, my digestion, my sleep...
And one day, after 3 weeks, the weight began to drop magically.
I'm 8kg down today.
This kind of information helped me to keep going, thank you Dr!!
Congratulations on your achievement! Very glad the information is helpful. Keep it up!
Just one serving of sucralose (Atkins bar) kills 50℅ of friendly gut bacteria,,,
@@lightbeingpontifex yeah- it’s definitely not a healthy choice, but I used it for a short period to get me over the sugar hump...haven’t eaten any of that stuff in a couple of years.
Omg I found an Atkin chocolate nut bar that was SOOOO good! Even just ONE bar tastes soooo good, but then immediately makes my stomach hurt and gives me the shits lol
Me too I just started and I loss 9 pounds in one week
I have stopped losing weight the last 10 days, but you are giving me courage, I am not giving up
Your anti cheat day stance was hysterical.
It's important to try to make your own keto snacks rather than buying them.
Yes. Until the market catches up/responds better
@@Lirree88 true
Yes, we should make our own food, but snacking raises glucose/insulin.
@@F_T2D_Drew True, yet people who work in offices carry snack lunch with them. However, Dr Berg did say that eating snacks between meals will raise insulin & stop weight loss.
@@sabrinaandhusband7791 my first meal of the day is around 1230 1 pm from then to about 5 -6 pm my second meal of the day then around 9 pm I have to snack lol but I’ll snack on right stuff sucks that it spikes everything to eat something grrrrrr 🌻🌻🌻
Your sense of humor keeps a "heavy" subject much lighter. Great job to you and Karen.
Thanks Berg!! This is going into deeper details of what we’re actually consuming and how it affects our keto/IF diet 🙌🏼
Anyone that can help me understand, please chime in.
People have to accept that certain lifestyles require us to give up certain things, for ever
The biggest keto mistake I made was eating too little carbs. I was losing so much weight, ppl thought I was sick. So I incorporated more food in the day with more carbs. But I still avoid sugars.
If you're eating carbs to feel better, then you're not doing keto.
Sounds like you may not have been eating enough fat during your keto.
The "Cheat Day" skit had me choking on my morning coffee - that was not only a great analogy but funny as hell to boot
My mom always told me "If you aren't hungry enough to eat a raw veggie, you aren't that hungry.'
😂
I have just recently started the keto diet, one thing that my body has been wanting for a long time to cut the sugar out of my diet. OMG my energy level has skyrocketed through the roof. I feel like a completely different person. I love following you dr. Berg you are the best. I just recently bought your vitamin C serum and your yeast flakes. Thanks. This video is helpful
Thanks for the pointers in this video. Im a 48 yo female and i've been doing keto and IF since Thanksgiving and I've lost about 23 lbs but have hit a plateau the past few weeks with about 13 more lbs to get to phase 1 (healthy BMI) and then another 15 lbs give or take to get back into some awesome wardrobe options waiting for me in my closet from my 20s and 30s.
Keto mistake number 1: Buying foods with labels.
Maltodextrin I’ve noticed always made me feel bloated and icky
Dr. Berg - one of the best videos you’ve ever published. Every KETO beginner should definitely watch this video.
Thank you so much for this video. It was very beneficial. Keep up the Great Work! Much appreciated!
Very glad to be of help.
So far losing 1lb per week. 59 years-old, 5'6", start; 148 lbs, waist 35".
4 weeks into it, 144 lbs, 34" waist.
Goal 135 lbs, 32" waist. No cheat days. Started OMAD in week 2.
11:21 saving this for 4 weeks from now and a reminder to myself:
You are doing this to get healthy. Don’t let results or platueing stop you!
This is a great list and really matched my learning curve when I started Keto. I'm at the point now when I don't even pick up something in the grocery if it says 'keto' on it as they're almost always not keto friendly.
Dr Berg your videos inspire me to keep at Keto Big TY , I'm prediabetic from inactivity over the last 11yrs after a near fatal car accident no drugs or alcohol involved I'm almost 61 now i crushed 2 vertebrae C5 & C6 also had 10 full days of total Amnesia scary I've come back from being a living ghost, I have spinal cord syndrome aftert the bone graft surgery, recovery to a descent level took 4 yrs , I'm able to walk and use my arms very luckily but cant run thou nerve signals are disjointed only 5% with this injury are mobile, my GP wants me to do a GTT but I'm afraid it may do some real harm as I've cut my carbs right back hugely no bread no rice no pasta no potato no sodas added Sardines, Shellish Salmon, Greek Yogurt Aged Cheeses only low carb veggies cauliflower, Brussels sprouts broccoli cabbage , reduced fruit to berries and half an apple or orange every other day initially lost 4kgs in first month I have the classic belly which is reducing 😊 down to the first hole on my belt now , started walking quite a bit now Energy level and clarity of mind has been excellent ! even managed to fast 15hrs quite often Without any side effects which amazes me as I loved a huge Breakfast down to 2 meals a day , only one day was a bit lethargic in last 2 months not even the whole day i didnt drink enough & have enough fat recouped quickly after rehydrating and eating One thing I keep in mind is it took many yrs to become like this it'll take a while to overcome that I know I'm lucky no cravings or hunger between meals either once again Thanx
He is sooooooo right about getting healthy first!!!! I struggled with this part. I did keto before and it fell off. That was 10 years before. I spent 10 years drinking booze and eating like crap. My body was trashed!!!! It took a good month before things really started moving. Be patient.
I was doing the mistake with point 16. Now I know why my weight loss is stalled. Thanks for the great video 👍
Very glad to be of help.
I really like the long videos. They are super interesting.I usually do HIIT in the morning and longer videos are just perfect.
Very glad to be of help.
@@maddisonbythesea3015 that could be an explanation but it's not the golden rule, though.
Dizziness has nothing to do with toxins, its due to low keytones i.e lack of energy, you need to eat!!
@@manoo422 not true, dizziness goes away if you don't break the fast.
My mother can't hang,,,, she chose death and disease bc can't tolerate keto flu, how sad,
@@TheWayOfVRIL Nothing to do with fasting its about recognising when you need to eat and dizziness is a strong indicator.
I'm turning 60 and 8 years post menopause so no hormones. Keto and intermittent fasting changed my life and thank you, you have been with me on my journey of losing over 20lb and putting my t2d into remi
The cheat day part really got me, well done as usual Dr. Eric!
Please can you do videos on:
1. Autumn winter keto diet what we can eat when we cannot buy or source salads easily?
Meal plans for winters will help
2. PCOS video for keto weight loss - can we take Metformin on this keto diet and if we have weakness or tiredness what to do for low sugar cravings?
3. Is NIDO milk powder keto?
4. Which protein powders do you recommend available in UK? As we don’t get most of the USA products here
Yes, great observation. I cook all the meals myself
cant see how you can do keto low carb on vegan most vegan protein srouces have carbs like black beans i love eating all the time

I’ve got a tip to help you use a lot less salad dressing! You could even start with just one tablespoon of dressing and put your salad in a very large bowl and toss with the dressing. It gets everywhere but it’s just a light coat. Hopefully this helps someone

I haven't bought powdered protein so that's the only one I would of made a big keto mistake with. A few videos back you said it was best to avoid any sweeteners, so glad I do!!!
You're changing my life every single day. I am so grateful for you and these videos.
Hello, Dr. Berg! You are an inspiration for me, you are amazing and someday, I want to help people like you do! I just have one question. During this diet, can I drink apple vinegar? Does it have any benefits?
Absolutely
I take a teaspoon of acv every day!!!
How's it been going these days?
Same, I added fruit to my Keto Diet few days ago to stop hair loss. But my fruit portion size is very less like 5-10% every day.
Just try low carb
After doing some reading, I am guessing the 'code' may have been low electrolytes, even flavonoids as well?
Great info Dr Berg everything you mention applies to me here at the start of Keto
