It was the SONG that was sent to Gaga's manager, not the video. Also, as a avid "Weird Al" Yankovic fan since "The Saga Begins" and "It's All About The Pentiums". I have all his studio albums, at this point in Al's career, I was expecting the shot-for-shot parodies I was used to (Fat, Eat It, Surgeon, Nirvana) and the fact this wasn't a shot-for-shot, that it was visual joke after video joke, and the MAJORITY of the video being spent on C.G.I.-ing his face onto the dancer's body for almost the entire video, I felt like this video ended the era of the classic Weird Al videos.
This one was kind of interesting cause it was the opposite of Coolio. He said no at first and his record label told Weird Al yes, while her manger said no and she said yes.

To answer your question, that's a female dancer in most of the shots with Al's face digital superimposed over hers. The ones where the outfits are covering the entire body, like the peacock, were just Al, if I remember correctly.
“I bet you never seen a skirt steak worn this way” one of the best lines in a weird al song ever because 50% of the listeners don’t catch it. It’s such a subtle line.
Lady Gaga was completely cool with this. Weird Al always asks permission before he parodies anyone. Legally, he doesn't have to, because Parody is fair use, but he does anyway. Billy Joel and Prince both told him no when he asked and he scrapped projects involving their music out of respect for their wishes. Often, the artist he's parodying will legitimately help him out with the song and video. Sometimes even appearing as a cameo or letting him use the original sets and props. He's one of the classiest people in show business, and has a huge amount of respect for what he does among artists. Coolio tried to make a fuss about Amish Paradise by claiming Al didn't have permission. Al didn't need permission, but still handled it with class and apologized anyway stating that he had asked for permission and was told that he could. Coolio tried to say that it wasn't true and all sorts of artists came to Al's defense and basically shut down Coolio's attempts to create drama at Al's expense, including some artist that rejected his requests. That's what treating people with respect gets you. People who will help you out and have your back when you need it.
On Smells Like Teen Spirit, he called SNL while Nirvana was guest starring, and asked his UHF costar to put Kurt Cobain on the phone so he could ask permission directly. Weird Al says that Kurt said yes, laughed, and asked, "Is it gonna be about food?" To which Am replied, "I think it's gonna be about how no one can understand you!" 😂😂😂
The Coolio thing was apparently not him trying to cause drama, it was that Coolio's manager said yes, without telling Coolio about it, so when Coolio found out, he felt it was a cash grab and lost the point of the original song, thinking it was making fun of him or the message of the song, so he got super pissy about it and caused the Drama. Imagine you do this heartfelt and deep song lamenting the culture going on in every major city of the USA, and here comes a white person seemingly stealing this entire song, and making it a joke, one about white people at that. So of course, Coolio is going to be pissed. Which is why Weird Al was pissed too, not at Coolio, but that he was given the okay without Coolio being looped in and legit felt bad for doing it since he never wanted to piss anyone off. The two ended up talking it out, and are on good terms now once Coolio found out it was paying homage through parody and not meant to try to steal basically Gangster's Paradise as when you even remotely sample part of a song without proper sourcing, it can get you in a lot of legal trouble, and at the time of the song, things like Fair Use weren't as strong and clear-cut as they are today thanks to court cases defining things better in the age of the internet.

When he took it Al asked Curt about making a parody of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Curt said he was a big fan and he could do a pardoy asked is it going to be about food? Al said no.

What I really like about this guy is how long it took him to realize this was Weird Al's head on a woman's body. It was oddly sweet that he thought Weird Al would have that nice if a body.
Al was referring to himself in Perform this Way, as well as parodying Lady Gaga and Madonna. Another song of Al's you would like is called CNR. It's a song in the style of the White Stripes, and it's about Charles Nelson Reilly. It's awesome!
The thing I love about Weird Al is he asks every musician who he parodies their permission to preform the song and a large number say yes obviously but there have been some that have said no including some who have previously said yes to a parody like Michael Jackson he said yes to fat but no to a different song and prince always said no to Al and even though he would have been legally protected he respected their wishes and never commercial released the songs but has preformed them in concert.
When you said that "With Gaga, you'd never know what she'd do next." That is what makes her unique from other pop stars today. One day, you'll see her singing while bleeding, one day, she'll be singing SOund of Music in opera key. She's totally creative and unexpected.
Al requested to do the song and was told no. his reaction was to do a lyrics only audio on youtube . gaga saw it and was upset because her mgr told al no without asking gaga at all. gaga loves al's parodies and perform this way has her approval so Al went forword with the actual video.

Did you know Weird Al made a movie in the 80's called "UHF"? you should check it out sometime, its a whole movie of Weird Al skits basically parodying modern movies at the time with himself inserted... and there is an actual story to the movie too.
Just so you know, at least a few of the costumes are copies of real things she wore. (The bubble dress, the caution tape, meat dress, the black and white bikini, I'm pretty sure the nun's hat too) The French line was bc she sings the bridge of Bad Romance in French.
Just so you know the joke in the video that kind of went over most people's head... the original Lady Gaga song sounds so close to Madonna's sound and unpredictable stage presence , especially Madonna's "Express Yourself" hence "I'm so completely original..." at 3:28, being sarcasm. (Then Madonna's likeness appears and Weird Al pushes her out of the way.) Later in the video she comes back and says "Express Yourself" at 4:21 . And yes, knowing this probably means I'm getting old.
You should watch the side by side pre and post cut of this video. Shows dancer whose body was used with his head later added. Gaga wore meat dress to grammies.
Two different women's bodies were used. Al's head superimposed on the bodies of dancer Vlada Gorbaneva and contortionist Marissa Heart using CG effects.
That's not his body, but Al really is a contortionist. It's something like 85% of people could do if they just trained enough (stretching a bit more each day)

for what i heard it seem Lady gaga herself send him the first clip of her song and he added his face on gaga body! For what i heard she was fan of his work! i heard another thing, it seem that when he contacted gaga agent to get gaga blessing for his parody they told him to not do it because gaga was of the process of gatting out a new cd but when she latter heard of this she send him the clip with hare blessing because she was fan and delighted that he will parody her! If it's real lady gaga seem to be a great person!
He had two different women perform the body motions, one for the majority and a contortionist. His body is only actually seen during things like the "I'm Frankenstein" and as Willy Wonka.
In an interview with weird Al someone asked him does he get promission to sing parody songs from the original singer of that song. And he said yes but 1 person said no to him
No, it wasn't actually him. There was a talented woman dancer who had his face computer edited onto hers. There are SOME scenes with just him, but mostly it's the dancer's body.
It's funny to think that the MOMENT GaGa got out of her contract, she went to writing country music and becoming an actress, basically stopped all her showmanship because in many ways... she was forced to dress and act the way she did, basically trying to get popular by being crazy and wild and wacky, by her contract holders.

This is NIGHTMARE FUEL!
Love to see people still enjoying AL after all these years :D
You should watch the side by side pre and post cut of this video. Shows dancer whose body was used with his head later added. Gaga wore meat dress to grammies.
Two different women's bodies were used. Al's head superimposed on the bodies of dancer Vlada Gorbaneva and contortionist Marissa Heart using CG effects.
The "bodies" are dancer Vlada Gorbaneva and contortionist Marissa Heart
That's not his body, but Al really is a contortionist. It's something like 85% of people could do if they just trained enough (stretching a bit more each day)
You have to check out ‘don’t download this song’
Also, og ptx will give you chills-imagine, Michael Jackson, daft punk and hallelujah are breathtaking
Now that you are doing Weird Al, AND Epic Rap Battles, you need to react to "Sir Isaac Newton vs Bill Nye"
This Weird Al parody was great.
This was a crazy song. Do the Bedrock Anthem or Jurassic Park next.
HELL YES it’s better! Weird Al is a genius, hands down!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
G’day mate from Australia, how’s it going?,These Weird Al videos are halerious mate, can’t stop laughing, the drive thru one was so funny and also has some truth to it as well, keep up the great work👍
Fantastic reaction, as usual. I really enjoy the Weird Al appreciation.
In honor of Twenty One Pilots' album Blurryface becoming the most streamed album of all time, you should react to all songs.
Do "the night Santa went crazy" by wired al
Check out, darryl worley “I miss my friend” and “have you forgotten”
Nobody else has touched these and they will floor you
Don't forget Weird Al has great original songs like You Don't Love Me Anymore and Dare to be Stupid.
I’ve been binge watching your videos. I adore your reactions! I’ve laughed and I’ve ugly-cried 😂. Thanks for sharing your joyful spirit with us.
He does everything!
It's a body double with Al's face super imposed on it
Believe it or not. Lady Gaga laid the backing tracks. She loved being parodied by Weird Al. She felt quite honored.
The song WAS flattering to her. Also good and funny.
My man, you need to react to some "OK Go" music videos. That's amazing stuff right there!
You and Weird Al would have the most beautiful bro-mance !! Love your reviews and love the parody king - Weird Al. 😀
Not a fan of Lady GaGa's music really, but when I learned that she got her name from Queens, "Radio GAGA"... i got some respect for her.
I'm going to see his live tour this Friday, and I cannot wait
Mad props to the background dancers.
Think I wrote this on your last reaction but I recommend watching The Key of Awesome once. They are hilarious and have years worth of Parodies. They go all out for a lot of their videos as well.
You need to watch Weird Al's "Living with a hernia" . Parody of the hardest working man James Brown's, "Living in America".
Congrats on 200k! Awesome dude (and dudette!) You guys are my go to for stress relief! Glad to know y'all are doing alright! 🤗
had a cassette of Weird Al. good times, getting old 😂
for what i heard it seem Lady gaga herself send him the first clip of her song and he added his face on gaga body!
The most hilarious is her french sentences if you know it...she said "excume me, who has farted
Can't wait to see you get to "Party in the CIA". Easily one of my favorite newer Wired Al.
He had two different women perform the body motions, one for the majority and a contortionist. His body is only actually seen during things like the "I'm Frankenstein" and as Willy Wonka.
I love the Madonna jokes. She was the OG "outrageous" Video star.
Might be me, but I think weird al was also hinting that Born This Way sounds like Express Yourself by madonna.
In an interview with weird Al someone asked him does he get promission to sing parody songs from the original singer of that song. And he said yes but 1 person said no to him
I showed my parents this video. They didn't even last after the first chorus.
