Yeah. Weird Al is so popular, it's odd how often he could just reach out to someone and go "Hey you want to be in my video?" and they'll be like "yeah, sure! Sounds like fun!" just for kicks n' grins.

_'MELANIE'_ by *Weird Al Yankovic* is a wondrous song, not a cover, but an original composition from the *_'EVEN WORSE'_* album. My favorite. Highly recommended.

There are so many more in his catalogue. He started when he was a teenager, he was sending tapes to a radio guy Dr Demento and this guy played them on the radio, people started to asked for the guy playing accordion, yes accordéon. I will be waiting for your reactions, I don't know why but I'm having a big smile on my face right now.

You have only scratched the surface of this video. The timing switches, the lift timing. (whether it really was cut or not it's still amazing timing to start the song knowing the lift will be open and close at the right time, and if it all was 1 take, to have Jack Black waiting on cue downstairs knowing when he was timed in too. That's bloody amazing.

The reason no one but Coolio, ever tells him no, even though as a parody, you do not need the original artists permission, is everyone knows that if Weird Al parodies your song, you know you've made it!!! It's a badge of honor, validation!!

I got the chance to see Weird Al Live a few years back... it was absolutely fantastic. and he opened with Tacky. Video started from his trailer, and made his way past "poorly" dressed people, all the way out to stage, dancing, and singing the whole time!. It was great! as was the rest of the show!
Also, if you enjoyed the "Single Take" video... you should really check out "Stunner by Dan Le Sac v. Scroobius Pip" it's a great song, and also done in one continuous shot.

Man, he’s been doing this since before you were born. He has a degree in architecture, but chose this as a profession. He is also a skilled accordionist. Check out some his polka covers. He has great polka medelies of pop songs. His very first hit was “Another One Rides the Bus”, a sendup of Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” performed with just his accordion on the Doctor Demento Show back in the day.

Weird Al doesn't just do parodies of other artists' songs. He also does style parodies. These are songs and lyrics he wrote, in the style of a specific artist or genre. Check out "Craig's LIst", which is an original song in the style of The Doors, where he channels Jim Morrison. The late Ray Manzarek, the keyboard player for The Doors, played the keyboards on this song. It's hilarious :D

Jamel, I'm impressed with your ability to follow the lyrics (and decipher them!) while also noticing all the nuances going on! I miss so much of one while concentrating on the other. Weird Al enunciates well on most of his songs, but this one lost me. I wish I could get the lyrics of Tacky somewhere, because I got lost starting with the gal on the elevator. Anyhow, Jamel, thanks for sharing! You have brought many smiles and laughs from a cranky late-boomer lady during this really difficult time of pandemic AND unrest. :o) Hugs!

When he did his "Mandatory Fun" tour he would go into the city that his show was in during the day and film this song while walking around and interacting with the locals. It would then be shown at the start of the concert that night and at the end he would come down the aisle from the back to the stage and finish the song

    • @mustangdebbie56

Weird Al does an AMAZING live show. On his Strings Attached tour he did tacky walking around the audience critiquing people's dress and everyone has a blast. I've never seen someone do more costume changes in a show and he can still put on an amazing performance even at 60 years old!
