I'm honestly surprised there was never a collaboration song between Weird Al and Tenacious D. The two most famous comedic music acts put together seems like a natural combination.
@@JackgarPrime I'd say it's due to Weird Al's insistence on no vulgarity in his music. Now Jack Black can do that no problem, but Tenacious D is nigh synonymous with foul language. Classico is a good example.

Al's been doing this for over 40 years now and has no signs of stopping. Still out touring and has the same band he's had the whole time. He's always been one of my favorites!
Not only that, but they don't ask for the sheet music for the songs they parody. The entire band works out and plays every single song by ear to make their parodies.
after his latest album, Mandatory Fun, he said that was going to be his final studio album, he said that if he does come out with anything else it’d just be a single song at a time, I think, can’t remember.
The secret is, he’s been playing with mostly the same band for over 40 years. Apart from his parodies being funny as hell, he’s a great musician and that band is so tight. It’s amazing to go and see him and his band live.

Weird Al is probably the only Boomer who sincerely has his hand on the pulse of pop culture as it changes and evolves over time. Like, he was born in the 50s, when Elvis was at his peak and he embraces modern music and artists and treats their work with the same love and respect as the original artist, and not hating it because its not like it was back in his day.
One of my favorites that haven't been done yet has to be "The Saga Begins" surprisingly written based off internet spoilers and released right after the movie
When Al performs this in concert, he has a camera guy follow him from somewhere outside the theater or stadium and follow him into the venue. He interacts with people all the way in and twerks the people in the audience. It's hilarious!!!

There are 14 studio albums. Be aware of several compilations. However, you can only get Headline News on the Permanent Record album which is a compilation but the record company insisted he add a new song to it.
This could be a fun fact but the alley where the song begins and ends appears to be the same alley Weird Al uses in the Subterranean Homesick Bob video...
What I love about this one is he used to open shows on his Mandatory Fun tour with this song. And he would pick a random location in the town and start walking from there, to the theater while being filmed and shown on a screen on stage, all while actually singing live (I worked one of his shows, so I know he wasn't lip synching). The dude is amazing!
Kristen Schaal at her hottest. Love Al, don't get me wrong (literally wore out my CD of 'Running with Scissors' back in middle school, and then back-tracked his discography since the internet and Napster was a new thing). So not to distract too much from our boy's joy of this song... But getting her for a cameo and to dance like that...*ungh* (yes, I know who the others are. But they don't matter, lol)

The reason no one but Coolio, ever tells him no, even though as a parody, you do not need the original artists permission, is everyone knows that if Weird Al parodies your song, you know you've made it!!! It's a badge of honor, validation!!
You’ve got to see The Hamilton Polka, & then watch the Lin Manuel Miranda/Jimmy Fallon reaction video to it. Lin grew up as a HUGE Weird Al fan, and his reaction to Al parodying his musical is incredible! 💙💙💙
I got the chance to see Weird Al Live a few years back... it was absolutely fantastic. and he opened with Tacky. His very first hit was “Another One Rides the Bus”, a sendup of Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” performed with just his accordion on the Doctor Demento Show back in the day.

Weird Al doesn't just do parodies of other artists' songs. He also does style parodies. These are songs and lyrics he wrote, in the style of a specific artist or genre. The late Ray Manzarek, the keyboard player for The Doors, played the keyboards on this song. It's hilarious :D

When I saw Al live, the album that this song was just released and he preformed this as the first song and there was live video of him walking around the venue as he came to the stage singing it
Weird Al does an AMAZING live show. On his Strings Attached tour he did tacky walking around the audience critiquing people's dress and everyone has a blast. I've never seen someone do more costume changes in a show and he can still put on an amazing performance even at 60 years old!
I've been to 5 concerts since his last album, came out and I've been blown away every time!!! Best live performer on Earth and his band of 38 years is the best band there is. Amazing musicians. This year he toured with a full symphony orchestra. His encore is The Saga Begins and Yoda with Darth Vader, R2D2 and a stage full of dancing storm troopers!!!!

When he did his "Mandatory Fun" tour he would go into the city that his show was in during the day and film this song while walking around and interacting with the locals. It would then be shown at the start of the concert that night and at the end he would come down the aisle from the back to the stage and finish the song
Oh he didn't film it, he did it live. Watch some of the videos people have posted. You can see him singing while entering the concert area with the cameraman following him. The live camera feed is shown on the big screen the whole time.
When I saw Al live, the album that this song was just released and he preformed this as the first song and there was live video of him walking around the venue as he came to the stage singing it
He did this live on Conan, and it was hilarious. Starting from the dressing room, all the way to the stage.
You have to see " Perform this way" parody of Lady GaGa' s Born this way. He also has original stuff that are not parodies but are good.
There’s years worth of Al music to go over. Way back to the late 70’s or early 80’s. Can’t remember exactly
Weird Al does an AMAZING live show. On his Strings Attached tour he did tacky walking around the audience critiquing people's dress and everyone has a blast. I've never seen someone do more costume changes in a show and he can still put on an amazing performance even at 60 years old!
I love how he busts out the moves from Michael Jackson's "thriller" when he mentions zombies. A nice nod to the parodies he made in the 80s.
I'd love to see one of his concerts. I bet they're fantastic.
I am told that once during a concert, the song "Canadian Idiot" ended with a confetti bomb into the crowd.
i got to see one one of his concerts since he came to Victoria bc it was a great concert however i'm sure it would be better in bigger cities
The only thing better than being parodied by Weird Al is being IN a parody by Weird Al..
I've been a fan since his first one. Please check it out. "Another One Rides The Bus", his parody of Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" performed on accordion!
There's a video of him performing it live on TV.
An accordion and a cardboard box.
@@robertgray1365 accordion case
Not just him and an accordian but a rigged recording setup in a public bathroom!
@@schmidington yes that was for My Bologna. Another One Rides the Bus was recorded live on Dr Demento's show.
