The fact that U2 got in in the early 2000s and artists like RUSH, Journey, Stevie Nicks, etc only got in within the last decade should be all the evidence anyone needs.
Many artists have been critical of this during their acceptance speeches. If I were up for one I'd probably pull a Maynard James Keenan and just not show up, lol.

Its energy, strength, and unique style have been a source of inspiration for me. This is such a great video .. I can remember when it came out and how I watched it over and over because I had recorded it on VHS tape (along with other DD videos and interviews of course!!). So clever how they integrate the video with the actual movie clips and make it look cohesive. And, that quick, blurry shot of John's grin .. and the tying in of Bon, Simon LeBon .. is just 2 of the many things that make me love this video even today.

Great song and well deserving of a theme song. What a privilege it was to live during this time. I was 13 & just discovering music 🎶 they were my favorite group of all time. ❤Nothing will be as good as to be a child of 80s. These kids today really miss out. We had it all. We saw everything.

This and Ordinary World were Duran Duran best two songs!
