Many thanks to Merkur for sending me this watch, it really helps the channel!
Great review, intelligently and eloquently delivered. Thank you!
Lovely watch, thanks for bringing it to our attention. Just ordered one. I already have the Merkur Red Army.
Not a watch for me but as always a great review! By far my favorite watch channel on youtube.
I appreciate that!
I agree! You run a fine channel Bud. GBU & your family
Same
Lovely watch, now that I can see it on camera, it should be on my list. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Have one of these myself and I really enjoy it! For the pricing I think it does pretty well, couple of improvements at this price we can accept
Totally agree!
Beautiful watch, Dan. I own the manual wind Seizenn/Merkur WW2 field watch, and it is excellent. I just got the Baltany 1926 homage with salmon dial in the last sale, and it is superb. So I won’t be getting this one. But, I am now a fan of both Merkur and Baltany. Great review, as always!
I also have the Baltany 1926 and a Pierre Paulin (aka Merkur) with a similar dial - same colorway as the video.
Lovely watch, thanks for introducing it to us, and thanks for the discount as i've just added it to my collection. I already have a Merkur - their Red Army. And for the price it's a stunning work horse.
Great review dude. Love these, I have the Salmon sector dial with the same case also on Grey suede. It'[s a no nonsense dress watch!
That's a wonderfully fair review. The tongji (Chinese standard) movement is actually a pretty decent design. What counts with Tongji movements is finishing and assembly. I bought a few Merkur watches and, like you, I think they're good value for the dollar. Great style, solid cases, and some wonderful dials and hand sets. (I think their best watches are where they put modern spins on vintage Chinese watch dial designs from the 60s and 70s, like the example in your beautiful video.)
If I have one quibble, it's the hardened mineral crystal. I'd vastly prefer acrylic or sapphire--but given it's a mineral crystal, it's one of the best mineral crystals I've ever seen. It's a beautiful, very light-friendly dome. That's obvious from the video. And, as you say, for casual wear, no big issue. Happy to subscribe.
Thank you for your excellent comments 👍
It’s not the sort of watch I’d wear but it is superb looking. The price is fantastic. Great vid.
Thanks for watching!
Hey Dan, fine review. BTW 21,600 VPH is 3 hertz, not 4 hertz. Cheers!
Meh...
Good looking piece that seems very well made.
Great to see you back 👍
Great review Dan, glad to see you uploading more!
Love this watch. I have it on the beads of rice bracelet.
Thank you! I'm getting back into the swing of things. Appreciate your comment.
@@watchmewithwatches Do you think the crystal is replaceable? While I love the watch, I think the crystal is a bit too much of domed.
Eye eye mate great review
Good to see you back 😎
Hey, thanks
Agree, it's a very beautiful watch for a small price.
I liked, commented, and I'm a subscriber for a long time ✅✅✅😊
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the support!
Great review 👍. I really like those watches, but I won't buy because I had a military one with that movement and it failed after a couple of months. San Martin do a similar size dress watch with mineral and Ronda quartz sn0101 , I got mine for £70 delivered and it is beautiful.
W moim merkurem też padł mechanizm po pół roku 😢
Hey Dan, great to see you again. Moar content pleez! LOL Always enjoy your videos. Cheers!
More to come!
Gorgeous thanks for presenting
Thank you for this review.
I have this watch and she's a beauty. I pair it with a milanese. Looks amazing. Love the proud made in China wording on the dial
the movement is a merkur madevariant of the chinese standard movement design (which a lot of people regard pretty highly as long as it´s the manual wind only one) and it is a beautiful movement especially considering how cheap these watches are.
That's awesome! Thanks for the info, much appreciated
@@watchmewithwatches you could open it up and have a look at it.
Yeah, the finishing gives away that it is far from being a Sea-Gull :) And I think Sea-Gull has some similarly affordable and good looking watches in its official store with manual winded ST17.
Nice 1 Bud, definitely Salmon for me. Sapphire crystal though, especially with that design, would probably make it far too expensive?!
That's a fine looking watch. Value too.
i have their mnaula wind TOP HILL SERIES salmon dial with bracelet. love it govna
Nice to see someone wearing gloves in a watch review - respect for that
Cheers..a nice looking watch overall. I do like it when companies are inspired by vintage watch designs - it almost always seems to make them feel more refined (maybe more than they actually are!) I guess my main gripe would be the logo which looks a little bizarre to my eyes and it really catches the light more so than if it was just printed. Anyways, thanks again 👍 Edit: Oh, the logo is actually printed..I'm losing it!
Merkur uses what is called a Standard Movement, which was a project by the Chinese gov’t to create, well, a standard mechanical movement. These are sometimes called by the name in pinyin “Tongji”.
Very good video, but the coupon doesn't apply 😢
Thanks! I am waiting for my contact at Merkur to get back to me
I don't know why they don't use domed Acrylic crystals. I wouldn't touch a domed mineral. Probably a Shanghai movement.
Amazing review! Tried using your coupon code but sadly didn't work. Any advice? :(
Thank you! The code works on value over $100. 👌
It is a very handsome watch.
Nice vintage style watch. I tried the coupon code just to check the final price, but it didn’t work for me.
I will check with Merkur....thanks for letting me know
Minor correction, most likely you just misspoke yourself, but 21.600bph is 3Hz, not 4 bph.
Nice watch and review!
Haha! I have a watch that beats 4 times per hour, pos! Just asking 3hz means 6 ticks per second?
@@jeffreygoss8109 3Hz is 3 cycles (or ticks in this situation) per second
@@jeffreygoss8109 exactly, 3 full circles of the balance wheel, or 6 beats /or semi-oscillations/ per second
It's not a Seagull movement, that's a variant of Tongji aka the Chinese standard movement. It comes from decades ago, when CCP ordered all watch factories in China to ditch their own designs and start making a rudimentary unified movement. Merkur seems to use a decorated version, but don't be fooled - it's still a cheap, basic movement.
Note: All Merkur watches are not made well. The skindiver model has terrible quality control. (1) Misaligned inner chapter ring and date wheel (2) No water resistance whatsoever (3) Poor quality winders (4) Terrible time-keeper. A terrible pity considering the beautiful dial. What a disappointment
So why did you buy all the Merkur watches knowing this? 😅
@@birdshenanigans8506 Only bought one. I understand QC is luck of the draw. Not for me.
A strange watch: exceptional dial and hands, budget mineral crystal and a timebomb movement 😂
Nice review, and always great to see a review from you. Lovely eatch, and looks like a great value. However I think the chinese branding is going to be a turnoff for some. It is for me. Otherwise Id be all over this watch
There is a similar watch from Pierre Paulin (aka Merkur) without the chinese characters.
That’s one great looking and value watch. And 20% off on top of that?Glad to see them embracing their Chinese Heritage. You’re right though, shame about the mineral.
Shame they don't do a man's 41mm - 43mm size.
Shame it's only Hardlex
I just ordered it. Your code is not working. I used the code (20usd) that showed up after subscribing to the newsletter.
Thanks for the heads up, I have contacted Merkur for help
@@watchmewithwatches my pleasure. Good luck with the channel, you deserve it!
Great review
