This scene surprised me. Before seeing it I assumed that Bruno's ability just automatically happened like Peppa's or the others but he has to perform a whole ritual to do it. This makes me think that all those townspeople and his family who talked about him in the Bruno song begged him to use his ability like Maribel. If that's the case I'm ticked off at them for talking about him like he's a curse since they were the ones who asked him to see their futures in the first place. Don't get mad at him for telling you your future when you were the one to ask him to do it.
And as well, Bruno didn't foresee the weather on Peppa's wedding day. He made a joke about her literally sweating and she thought it was prophecy so she stressed about that.
Actually I saw a post by one of the people that worked on encanto and he can just see the prophecies without the ritual but he uses the rituals as a sort lucky charm of sorts

Also interesting but Delores and Isabella also have slightly different colours to their families. Delores with red much more notable than her yellow colouring, and Isabella a lavender colour compared to the rest of the families blue hues. Mirabel on the other hand has all the colours in her embroidery which is cool.

My theory is the gifts are there to help peoples struggles or to embrace who they are. Bruno was anxious as a kid so we was given the ability to see the future to help him be less scared about what the future holds.

She seems to struggle with expressing her emotions, so her power literally makes it impossible to hide it. Her husband is constantly trying to get her to stop bottling it all up, but her family insists she do the opposite. Louisa is incredibly nervous, but she was given the strength to take on challenges head on. Isabela is very expressive so we was given a gift to express herself through colorful plants. I feel like a lot of the plot is actually about how despite every member of the family getting a coping mechanism so they could all be happy, the "good of the family" turned every gift into a curse.

You know, I have a personal theory that the townspeople misread Bruno’s “visions” when he told them to each person. I mean think about it, each of them were relatively simple predictions. The lady with the goldfish? Bruno probably passed by the fish, perhaps saw it sick and not looking so hot, and was like “Hate to tell you this, but that fish is gonna die.” The man with the gut? Bruno observed him eating a lot of junk or sweets one day and said to him “You’re gonna grow a gut if you keep that up...” The gentleman who went bald? Probably saw other bald men in the guy’s family or saw his hair starting to thin up top and behind where the man couldn’t see too well, connected the dots and was like “I’m fairly certain all your hair’s gonna disappear at some point.” All of these would make sense in how he’d say it since he”s always been a little awkward in conversations, so him blurting these things out isn’t too far fetched. Dunno why but I can just imagine this all being revealed in a short of some kind, showing a day in the life of Bruno before he went into hiding. I can definitely see it happening if they went that route lol

I love that during the last family photo, when Bruno's about to fall Mirabel and him grab onto each other, and that's symbolic that she's his crutch, someone he trusts, and someone who can help him get back into the family. I love that scene too. I agree, if we get a sequel they are going to be very close. It also seems like Bruno is close with Julieta. When Mirabel walks up to the door, Julieta is holding Bruno vs hubby. Yes Pepa was pissed about the wedding, but Julieta was always sad that Bruno *lost his way" so I feel like those two were closer growing up
He is the cutest character in this movie before Mirabel; so selfless, not confident about himself considering how people treat him, but still loves his family unconditionally; I just want to give him a big hug 🫂 like his Abuela and the rest of the family do at the end of the movie x

Bruno was essential for Abuela to move forwards. While Julieta healed the wounds of the past and Pepa could cast the clouds of the present and make it rain. on the one hand, it's funny, but on the other, it's sad that because of the negative opinion of others, he himself began to believe that he is "creepy" and predicts "terrible things". Although in fact he told people the truth that others did not understand, did not accept, did not want to listen. Like his observations of the townspeople, his sister worried before the wedding, who took his observations for bad predictions instead of looking at things from a different angle and taking appropriate measures. If warned, then armed. And not to roll a barrel on the predictor to whom they themselves turned.
I read an article that I think was from one of the creators and it said Bruno can get the visions when he concentrates and the sand is a part of it. The rituals are something he started doing to both help himself focus and also to try and bring good luck. Since most of his visions showed a bad future he started to believe he was causing them. Pepa's wedding was a huge blow to him since it broke his relationship with her. Notice how his door was between his sister's at first but eventually moved. As he felt more and more like an outcast the door moved to the side. And stairs added to make it farther back. None of the other doors are hidden like that. That started after the wedding the article said. Since that's when what little confidence he had in himself really broke. He just wanted to hide and Casita moved the door. Seems plausible. Poor Bruno 😭😭😭😭
Antonio is smart. Too mature for such a young age. All the children use very good vocab words that little kids won’t know or learn till they’re out of kindergarten. Personally, I learned how to say similes, metaphors, fancy words, etc in 6th grade.

I think Bruno is definitely the relative Mirabel needs. They are so alike and his protectiveness over her is adorable!
You know, I have a personal theory that the townspeople misread Bruno’s “visions” when he told them to each person. I mean think about it, each of them were relatively simple predictions.
The lady with the goldfish? Bruno probably passed by the fish, perhaps saw it sick and not looking so hot, and was like “Hate to tell you this, but that fish is gonna die.”
The man with the gut? Bruno observed him eating a lot of junk or sweets one day and said to him “You’re gonna grow a gut if you keep that up...”
The gentleman who went bald? Probably saw other bald men in the guy’s family or saw his hair starting to thin up top and behind where the man couldn’t see too well, connected the dots and was like “I’m fairly certain all your hair’s gonna disappear at some point.”
All of these would make sense in how he’d say it since he”s always been a little awkward in conversations, so him blurting these things out isn’t too far fetched. Dunno why but I can just imagine this all being revealed in a short of some kind, showing a day in the life of Bruno before he went into hiding. I can definitely see it happening if they went that route lol

...Did anyone else catch that when Bruno snaps her name...Mirabel flinched, her hands curled up, & her eyes went wide like a traumatized kid would react to being yelled at, & that's when Bruno goes ‘wait no’ & apologizes? He literally saw her be just as traumatized as he is (because of Abuela yelling at everyone so much) & apologized without hesitation, & without being demanded to or being forced to realize he'd fucked up (like Abuela was). He just...loves Mirabel so much he noticed that small detail where she pulled back & got anxious. 😭
I love that during the last family photo, when Bruno's about to fall Mirabel and him grab onto each other, and that's symbolic that she's his crutch, someone he trusts, and someone who can help him get back into the family. If we get that Encanto Series, Mirabel is going to be basically Bruno's BFF and his key to getting used to family life again. I STAN UNCLE/NIECE LOVE

I read an article that I think was from one of the creators and it said Bruno can get the visions when he concentrates and the sand is a part of it. The rituals are something he started doing to both help himself focus and also to try and bring good luck. Since most of his visions showed a bad future he started to believe he was causing them. Pepa's wedding was a huge blow to him since it broke his relationship with her.
Notice how his door was between his sister's at first but eventually moved. As he felt more and more like an outcast the door moved to the side. And stairs added to make it farther back. None of the other doors are hidden like that. That started after the wedding the article said. Since that's when what little confidence he had in himself really broke. He just wanted to hide and Casita moved the door.
