Ill be honestly agustin’s character design may be simple but i just love how he is all formal looking but also very fun and clumsy.

I think it's to break the stereotype of latin American males... there are nerdy clumsy guys here as well...
His design being simple is a good thing. Easy to remember, easy to spot in a crowd of characters.
I think he was designed with the idea of a city slicker who moved to the village which lines up with his feelings of being something of an outsider in the Madrigals.
I love the fact that even though he adressed how difficult it was for him to integrate as a member of the family due to having no powers…he doesn’t take shit from no one. When abuela yells at him for not caring about the family, he doesn’t take shit and quickly defends himself and Calls her out.

It's so refreshing to see a Disney movie where the protagonist has both parents and they have a loving relationship with no conflict. I mean the conflict here is with abuela but still, so nice to see loving parents/children and no dead mothers in a Disney movie lol
I wish we saw more interactions with Agustin and Julieta towards their other daughters. Sometimes I forget that Luisa and Isa share the same parents as Mirabel lol, this is why an Encanto series or a part 2 would fit perfectly. The movie only really showed the beginning to their story, and all of them are really interesting characters. Considering how they got their gifts back, they didn't just end it with a "happily ever after".
Ex. How Camilo is a loved character but all he is really is a side comedic, he didn't really do anything to push the plot forward. Luisa is similar, after the start she just became a side detail that people bring up. She was important since she was the one whose gift was fading, but it stops at that.
They created such wonderful characters and personalities for each, and considering the movie's success, I hope they would jump at the chance to continue it.
Camilo does show that he is a caring and dutiful soon, however. While Mirabel is chasing Bruno, Camilo is serving some tea to a stressed out Pepe. (and then the hot tea gets spilled on him).
@@marksebree5218 yes! he's a caring character. i didn't mean that his entire personality was for comedic relief haha, but again, he didn't push the plot forward. Camilo was the reason I watched Encanto, so I was hoping he would've gotten a bigger role TT but I can't blame them, it's a small amount of time since it's just a movie. I'm still holding on to the slight chance it'll get continued
I just have this image of Luisa crying to her mother about how tired and stressed she is from doing so much heavy lifting and Julieta stroking her hair while going "I know, mija. I know" Because Julieta's healing gift is also in high demand for the village so she would understand exactly how exhausting it can be for everyone to rely on you all the time.
I think we just saw a fraction of their day to day lives and all from Mirabel’s perspective. Her parents both focused more on her because they knew Antonio’s gift ceremony would be hard on her. And from outside appearances their older two were doing fine. If you have multiple kids you tend to focus on who needs attention at the time. When something hits your radar though you respond quickly. When Luisa ran out crying, Augustin ran after her because he saw something was wrong and she needed support. I like to think Julieta went after Isabella because she was upset about her proposal being ruined. Both came back together to stand up to Abuela about Mirabel when things had settled down with the other two. When the confrontation between Mirabel and Abuela finally went down they both stepped out and you could see it dawn on them that this wasn’t just about Mirabel not having a gift, but that their other two daughters were miserable too. I think that had the house not collapsed and changed everything, they would have been the great, protective parents to all three girls that we can see they are.
@@kclee4538 yeah i noticed those too! since it's mirabels perspective we can't really expect a lot of those since it's a movie and they have limited time. plus i also come from a family of 8! 6 siblings so I get what it's like to have to go to multiple kids. I admire every little detail they put into the movie since they made use of the small time they were given. Good news tho! I heard that the makers don't mind an Encanto 2 or a spin off 👀 it's not confirmed if they really will make a new one but there's a possibility ;)

That surprised me too, and I wonder if, at some point, she DID consider it, but rejected the concept based purely on emotion: she's terrified of the thought that she might one day lose control over her situation (understandable, considering her PTSD) (despite the fact that it's inevitable, since she's mortal) and so she convinced herself that Mirabel didn't get a gift because she's just "missing something"/not "special" enough.
So the real reason she's so hard on Mirabel is because she feels threatened by her, though everyone else *thinks* it's because she thinks lowly of Mirabel due to her lack of a gift.

I love how Julieta and Agustin love their daughters equally. Even if one of them lacks a gift, they will always treat her as one of the family because gift or no gift, Mirabel was and always will be their daughter no matter what. My favorite part is when Agustin says to Alma "I was thinking of my daughter!" Showing that he is not afraid to stand up to his mother in law and call her out whenever she's hard on Mirabel. Same with Julieta. Alma may be her mom, but she refuses to let her exclude Mirabel.

When Augustin saw Bruno's vision, his 1st reaction is not 2 say anything about it. Bruno's 1st reaction 2 the vision is smash it 2 bits so that no 1 finds it 2 begin w/ & vanish. They love Mirabel so much that they just wanted 2 protect her.
I just realised, when Mirabel suddenly dissapeared after the house broke, Julietta must have been terrified. She's already been traumatised by ter triplet brother suddenly leaving and her never seeing him again, and I wonder if she has always been scared her daughter would leave amd never come back as well.
She looked so desperate when she finally found Mirabel and she looked overcome with joy when she saw Bruno again. And Augustine was very very accepting of Bruno. Maybe he knew how much Julietta regretted not stopping her brother and how much she missed him.

I love how they’re so supportive and loving of all their children. My favorite moment is when they defended Mirabel when Abuela was shitting on her. She mattered more to them than appearances because they actually saw her as a person, as their child, not a tool. Made me really happy to know that even though Abuela was awful to everyone, Julietta and Augustine were good to their kids.

I never seen such supportive parents in a Disney movie! (I guess Tiana's mum was pretty supportive, but she barely got any screentime). Like, usually the parents are the main conflict between the kid but in this, they gave the grandmother that role. I also liked that Abuela's more like a normal grandma, and not the hunched over old lady stereotype that can't do anything. Also Julieta's the sweetest and she has the best gift in the movie!!! I wish they gave her more screentime! Julieta and Peppa are just as awesome as their daughters in my opinion! They deserve to be in the Disney princess lineup, it's only fair!
I don’t really relate to any of the characters in Encanto (it’s still my fave movie though), but watching the dynamic between Mirabel and Julieta reminded me of me and mom’s (especially the scene at 1:35 - 2:06). I do feel like I’m not enough for anything and look down on myself, but my mom always reminds me how much she loves me and appreciates me :3

1:54 I love this interaction between mother and daughter because of how realistic it is. That's _exactly_ how I behaved every time my mom doted on me when I was a teenager. Whenever parents profusely compliment their teenage child, the kid doesn't respond by sweetly saying "Aw, thank you! How nice!" Nah, teens respond with "Ugh, stop it mom/dad. This is so mushy and embarrassing."
