Who said heaven was above us? This brings tears to my eyes. You honestly cannot get anymore American than this. Wrigley on a warm sunny afternoon, Harry singing, fans smiling. This is Baseball.
I grew up a Dodger fan, but man I would love to tune in to WGN tv station after school and catch the last 2-3 innings of Cubs games and hope to see the 7th inning stretch. Back in the day before Wrigley had night lights.
I never heard Harry live but kow he is a legend and am sorry to have missed him. I grew up in L.A., followed the Dodgers, and my baseball experience was voiced by Vin Scully (still with the Dodgers) and Jerry Dagett. I've been in the NW since 1971 and really miss the late Mariners announcer, Dave Neihaus, who died late last year. He announced for the Mariners every season of their history.
OMFG... that was my dad's birthday... It made me cry b/c my dad loved Harry and so did I we watched the games together... thank you so much for posting this.
I miss Harry! Use to listen to him when he did the play by play on KMOX for the Cardinals and then watched him on WGN when he did the play by play for the Cubbies.
the Cubs have the best fans in all of sports, how many teams can say they sell out most games and haven't won a championship in 103 years, even Toronto Maple Leafs fans who sell out, but they won 45 years ago which is recent history compared to the Cubs 1908 World Series. Cubs fans are the best.
everytime we reach the playoffs i miss him and wish he was here to enjoy it. sure he was a homer. how could you not be. you watch 162 games a year of the same team and youre a baseball fan. how could he not be? youre in our thoughts
There were people who would go to the games just to see Harry and sing "Take Me Out to the Ball game" with him. Most Cub fans probably never met Harry, but, to them, he was still like a member of their family.
Yankee Stadium on a hot summer day is MUCH better! However, Harry Caray is a great announcer and anyone worth calling a baseball fan will never forget him. Thank you for the memories, Harry.
I hope it worked half as well as my Dad's teaching did. I was genuinely surprised to learn Take Me Out To The Ballgame wasn't written by Harry Caray with Cubbies replaced so other teams could sing it. I actually got in trouble in Music class in elementary school for singing "Root root root for the Cubbies!" Because apparently that was wrong!
I grew up in St.louis, HARRY CARY was to broadcasting the game as what STAN MUSIAL was to the CARDINALS being the most perfect baseball player of all time if you think i'm wrong listen to HARRY call STANS last at bat nuff said
Look at how the hats were from the 1980's compared to now...: I was born in 1989 & I'm quite shocked as to how much time's flown & how much things've changed.
I grew up a Cardinals fan. Harry was the announcer with Garagiola. Jack Buck did the pre and post game. That was a good line up of announcers wasn't it. My favorite Harry story concerns a to be unnamed Dominican player who lost a pop up in the sun. "Holeeee Cow, How could he do that he is from Saient Peedro dee Magoreese all they have down there is sun." I realize I spelled the town wrong I was trying to put Harry's accent on it. I miss him. I was a part of my life and will always be.
They talk about the Mayan Calendar ending on 12/21, and the World ending as a result. The real "End of the World" will be when the Cubs win the World Series. I'd love to think it will happen in my lifetime (I'm 35), but so many others have said the same since 1908.
Never again will there be someone like Harry. God, I miss him calling games. Today's announcers are nothing more than hot air wind bags who don't know how to shut up! This was an era that we'll never see again.
Tell me about it. I'm a Mets fan btw, and I think it would be great for them to go to a world series and they had it in the bag in 2003. They would've beaten those Yankees anyway.
have watched the Cubs near richmond va area since I was about 9 or 10 years old on cable TV wgn since the mid 80,s cable was a lot better then and Harry the cubbies did it cubs win cubs win !!! also if it weren't for stupidity cable really ought to bring the superstitions back back then we had wgn, tbs, work on our cable such good years.
0:49 what is it with those 2 old people I have seen them in every video I watched today that got to do with the ball game song and the Cubs. they must be some real fans

Vin Scully!
@@cindysheehan1311 died
THIS is tradition distilled in its purest form. Chicago is a lucky city.
I was there FIVE days before this! We saw the Cubs and Giants on July 5,1985.
Oh thoses were the good old days.....Damm I miss them.
I'm a Giants fan but you gotta love Harry Carey!
I know Harry is smiling in heaven!
I miss Harry!
That takes me back.
I miss those days.

“LET’S GET SOME RUNS!!”!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️
what a legend. i used to watch all the WGN games in the 80s with harry and steve stone.
fond memories of Harry Caray growing up watching the Cubs on WGN. I wasn't even a Cubs fan but I loved hearing him call a game.
I miss Harry! Use to listen to him when he did the play by play on KMOX for the Cardinals and then watched him on WGN when he did the play by play for the Cubbies.
Harry Caray better be leading the 7th Inning Stretch during this historic World Series game from the stadium screen !!!
He did tonight along with Eddie Vedder and it was so epic probably the best ever done at Wrigley
I'll have to look on RUclips for that.
Will Ferrel making fun of Harry Caray is sacrilegious! The man was a freaking walking freaking saint!
cant wait for opening day .i hope this is the year

Best fans in baseball. The day Wrigley field is torn apart, will be a day of memoriam in baseball.
i cried and im from Michigan :)

Hes the best cubbie ever
It's great how I don't see any idiots taking Snapchats of themselves on their smart devices.
Kory Keller yessss....the good ole days....enjoying the moment while you are actually IN the moment
"Let's get some runs!"
Quite possibly the #1 all time song of my childhood.
Yankee Stadium on a hot summer day is MUCH better! However, Harry Caray is a great announcer and anyone worth calling a baseball fan will never forget him. Thank you for the memories, Harry.
it's 2022
I remember listening to him when I first became a Baseball fan..... Too bad he isn't with us anymore....
Each night as I sing my kids their lullabyes, I channel my inner Harry and teach them how this song was meant to be sung.
The Chicago cubs are my favorite team i’ll always be a part of their Fanbase
Well that's true, in Philly, we may've lost Harry Kalas, but we still have him on the PA and the big video board!!!
I grew up in St.louis, HARRY CARY was to broadcasting the game as what STAN MUSIAL was to the CARDINALS being the most perfect baseball player of all time if you think i'm wrong listen to HARRY call STANS last at bat nuff said
Awesome video!!!!

A brodcasting legend and master of the 7th inning streatch.
Totally agreed.
I still can't get over the fact Cubs lost to Padres in 84 championship series..

may harry R.I.P he will always be a cubbie
I saw him sing when I went to Wrigley Field April 21, 1993 when my Houston Astros beat the Cubs 2-0.
cant wait for opening day .i hope this is the year go cubs go
The best !
This is why we Cubs fans are the best fans in baseball! :)
Bring Harry Back!
HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reminds me of why I'm a Cubs fan. GO CUBS!!!
Pure Chicago
Let's get some runs!
Now he's retired. His last game was also the Astros last home game as a National League team.
Is that Steve Stone lighting a cigar in the background. Brilliant if so!
Did you anybody see anyone wearing a VFL Guernsey Becuase Its Popular Back Then In The 1980s In The USA Because It’s Broadcast On ESPN

We're still here
Never again will there be someone like Harry. God, I miss him calling games. Today's announcers are nothing more than hot air wind bags who don't know how to shut up! This was an era that we'll never see again.
he though that he had a light saber
HEY!
WHAT IF
HEY!
and the Cubs did come back to win 4-3
Tell me about it.
I'm a Mets fan btw, and I think it would be great for them to go to a world series and they had it in the bag in 2003. They would've beaten those Yankees anyway.
I was there...but looking at this footage of the crowd, I should have sit in the left field bleachers instead of the grandstand. Hindsight is 20 20.
this is scaring me 0__o
Not if the Cubs build an animatron or show the video on the new fancy, schmancy scoreboard that's coming to Wrigley.

Let's all understand one thing. Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame.
@jmacapag6 I was thinking the same thing.
@iamzeroedin In what not to do. lol
holy cow! was it Harry Caray or Phil Rizzuto?
Hi
@iamzeroedin So in definition:
White Sox > NL
Sorry Atlanta Braves and TBS, back in the day the Cubs were the real America's team.
im a yankee fan but thats true wrigley is the best!!
He's dead you can't bring him back..... Once your dead your dead till Jesus comes to take you to HIS home.
And for the record, I'm not insulting you or the Astros. I just hate Milo Hamilton for what he said about Harry in his memoirs.
yea i bet the cardinal fans are jealous they have a dull announcer but too bad he died
