What's your favorite Dino? Be sure to share these sounds with a friend
Triceratops i think 🤔😉

.
Jokes aside, the 204 and the 246 both over the 308!
The 308gtb/4
can you imagine if Ferrari did something oldschool and built a naturally aspirated V6 bolted to a 6-speed manual?
edit : ok. so I actually find it really kind of odd how we all collectively lust over these old classics for their tangibility, tactility, that mechanical manual shift lever, the effort, the challenge, the sound, etc. We all love simplicity, lightweight fun, tossable sports cars. And yet, sports car manufacturers, ie Ferrari, are not at all delivering anything remotely close.
Hell I used to have a big Lamborghini Countach poster in my bedroom as a kid, but I know 100% sure my son won't give a flying f*ck about anything Ferrari makes now; none of them are desirable.
...am I the only one feeling this way?
246 GT L series. Those are my dream cars in the red color
I wish the audio can be crank up a bit in post, tq ❤
“Not a Ferrari” Enzo named it in honor of his own son that died young. Not sure how much more Ferrari you could be.
Camissa the influencer
@@twgood5882Was a great episode.
Enzo had a shrine to Dino in his office and couldn’t bear to leave the factory after Dino died. He was the first to see Dino’s shrine in the morning and the last to see it at night. The V6 was Dino’s project and Enzo immortalised his son with this beautiful car. It couldn’t get any closer to Enzo’s heart than this. It couldn’t be more Ferrari, as you say.
I was in both Ferrari museum, but Dino 246 is for me the most beautiful Ferrari.
True🙂
I imagine all those "that ain't a real Ferrari!" folks back in the day are kicking themselves in the family jewels for not picking these up when they depreciated
These have definitely aged very well!
@@Gr8thxAlotExactly, I wouldn’t mind having one.
Do you know how low these depreciated and what year it was when they did?
@@maloochProbably 80s and 90s
I remember decent drivers for 35k in late 90s.
"I never thought a son could leave his father a legacy. but my son did."
Enzo Ferrari on his son Dino.
Enzo visited his son's grave every day and never truly stopped mourning.
The Dino, and the direction it gave Ferrari, is a great legacy.
Alfredo gave the best car ever Made by humans! Many cars copy that piece of art today. Just watch.
The Bond group seems to have an amazing car collection. Ironically, the Dino was one of the better Ferraris of that era despite the Ferrari snobs turning their noses up at it. Imo
I think history shows that this is 100% a purebred Ferrari. Sure, it was taboo for them to not use the V12, but it still had the grunty engine and the racing prowess through the Lancia Stratos. Oh yeah, and it had trunk space. Truly a testament to Ferrari’s excellence.
The car that replaced the Dino was the 308 GT4. It wasn’t as beautiful, but the experience behind the wheel was almost exactly the same: excellent handling, tactile steering feel, excellent gated shifter, the engine sounded the same. It also had 4 seats and two good sized trunks. It’s considerably cheaper than a Dino 206 or 246, but if you want an incredible driving experience, it’s a fantastic car to drive. Some people thought the 308 GT4 was ugly, but when you see it in person it’s actually looks fantastic.
@@Mike-rk8px Fun fact - the Dino 308 GT4 is also 'not a Ferrari'. Its Bertone body is elegant as you say, just not what Ferraristi expect a Ferrari to look like. Those rear seats are pretty tiny. The wheelbase was shortened just a little (by 210mm) for the Farina bodied 308 GTB.
@@Mike-rk8px 14:44 16:06
I have a 1976 308 gt4 and 1973 246 tg I love them both .
A V6 that doesn't sound like a trumpet is a wonderful thing.
Actually, they should sound like double-tongued trombones
Don't disrespect the z.
@@greaterme5784 respect for being a decet, relatively modern NA V6, but I also prefer this tone. Much more mature and enjoyable. 🧐
This "it's not a Ferrari" story has already been proven to be false, Enzo was actually proud of his son's project!
It was always false..but unfortunately if enough dummies believe something and scream it loud enough the truth gets altered.
I think people got confused with Ford not liking his son Edsel’s project.
@@dilumwimalaratna4149 😅
The engines, for the 246 were in fact built in Maranello at the Ferrari factory. The idea that were built at FIAT is a long running falsehood. There are pictures, so it's not in doubt@@TedwardDrives
The sound on this car is so intoxicating! It just sounds so legit. Much better than all the fake pumped in sounds from cars today. 😄
The sound of that engine on the overrun is perfection. The little crackles from the exhaust that you get with a free flowing exhaust and carbs are subtle, almost like the engine is muttering to itself.
The popping on cruise and deceleration means the engine is running weak. Either an air leak or the jetting too small - Either way it needs sorting.
This seems like one of the best analog driving experiences.
My neighbors had a pale yellow 246 and I was in love with that car. I would make my way over there anytime Mr. Geigler was outside washing it. He drove me in it a few times and it was the fastest I'd ever been in a car for many years. This beautiful car will always be my dream car.
Great video Tedward!
Love that V6, the cracks, pops, and whine, ah, what a sound, and then the sight of those tapping thumbs. Thank you for posting this.
I remember me and my dad going to the Ferrari dealership and they had one in the showroom. Fortunately someone took it out for a test drive while we were there. Sticker price on it was approx. $16k. I many times over the years said to my dad, "should have bought it" as the prices escalated continuously. Has always been one of my favorites.
hi tedward, just want to say thanks, ur vids got me into appreciating and getting into cars !
Thank you! That means a lot
OMG I never knew the Dino sounded this good! I drove a Ferrari F12 the other day and I swear it didn’t sound this good. The F12 barely had any induction sound it was all exhaust.
I have never driven a f12 but this video should convince you that it has induction noise, only when driven hard.
ruclips.net/video/IEQFXVu4PeE/видео.html
Well, with an aftermarket upgrade the F12 has one of the best Ferrari exhaust notes *of all time,* and ranks very high among _all_ road cars.... ruclips.net/video/WSkxMBGKNPo/видео.html&pp=ygUbZmVycmFyaSBmMTIgbm92aXRlYyBuLWxhcmdv
The same engine in the Lancia Stratos sounds even better.
This car sounds great. Ive never really been too into Ferrari, but I have always liked the Dino 246gt.I even like the other body style dino that came later, but not as much.
I don´t care what anyone says this is my favorite Ferrari ever, such an elegant car, it´s truly a masterpiece, great video
Oh my! Gorgeous. Thxs so much for this video! Dino 246, Daytona, 308, 400, 512…those were the best Ferrari years design wise. I’d take a 246 any day against a F8 or a any modern Ferrari. Amazing.
Such amazing cars. Love the view of those humps out the front window. And the sound, of course, is insane.
One of the longest nonverbal stretches in a Tedward video. Obviously just enjoying the drive.
Great video! This really made me appreciate these cars even more.
I was smiling ear to ear when you pulled up to the Benz under the overpass. Simply stunning.
I think Dinos are real Ferraris. You should too.
Here is the history behind the sub-brand from what I have read, most from a coffee-table sized book on Ferrari I bought back in the 90s.
Classic street Ferraris were all front-engine V12. Enzo knew his customer well. His engineer son, Alfredo, was designing smaller V6 and V8 in the early- to mid-50s for Scuderia Ferrari. Enzo maintained that his customers would prefer the traditional GT format with a long hood and large V12 engine. Things continued until rival Lamborghini fascinated the world with its mid-engine Miura. Let us not forget Lamborghini was a Ferrari customer whose feedback was rebuffed by the old man, setting him on the path to switch from farm tractors to street cars, ushering in an era of rival Italian sports cars. Ferrari gave the green-light to launch a less expensive model, using the smaller, lightweight engine designed by his late son, who died from muscular dystrophy in 1956. Staying true to his idea that Ferrari should remain the pinnacle of Italian design, he chose Dino, his late son's nickname, as the brand. It would allow him to position the brand as its own, allowing it to compete with the Porsche 911 in price and as a target market. Thus Dino was designed not to compete with Lamborghini but rather Porsche as an entry-level Ferrari, perhaps how a quartz-based Tudor watch is considered a distinct sub-brand of Rolex. Neither Dino nor Tudor is inferior in quality, but rather of different design targeted toward a different, perhaps entry-level connoisseur.
Well said. And the engine was used in F2.
Omg, that engine note! Why the double blip on the down shift?
I first got to be a passenger in uncles GTS.. he bought it new 1973 and I rode in it in 76!, finally got to drive a GT when I was 21 in 97.. it was worth the wait💪
Those throttle overruns brought tears to my eyes.
My favorite V6 of all time. What a magnificent little engine, I dream of owning a Dino or Stratos one day.
The typical and most classic Ferrari SOUND ! I remember seeing often this model in the hills of central Italy ‘s countryside when I was a kid in the 1970s , usually painted in red or yellow and running fast , passing all cars around !
THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I am in love with Ferraris! Thanks bro for posting this video!💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽❤❤❤❤
Goodness, Tedward...that's one of the most beautiful cars ever. And that sound isn't bad, either.
Currently suffering through Covid. Your videos have been a great distraction while I feel horrible. Thanks for such a great content.
Best sounding V6 on the planet!
This car is pure perfection and i love the GIANT boot where you can actually put stuff in!
Absolutely love a v6! People need to appreciate them more…. Enthusiasts like yourself really help in this respect, many thanks, appreciated, a great vid, really showing what the Dino is all about 👍🇬🇧
It’s funny to see that people were not pleased to see the 296 with a v6 but once driven think it’s one of the best modern Ferrari’s!
I have a hard time not seeing this as the most beautiful car of all time.
I totally agree with you.
The sound is brilliant and with the sexy bulbous fenders, so much drama in this car. One of my all time favorite cars.❤
This is the best car I have seen you review - the sound is superb.
Was für ein herrliches Armaturenbrett! Der Dino ist einer der schönsten Ferraris aller Zeiten.
I don't have any money for this "amazing" beautiful Dino, but it's my dream car! Thanks for the wonderful sound! Gretting from France.
Yes... Yes... Absolutely beautiful in design as well as the sweet sound of the V6 engine. From son Dino to Father Enzo how lovely indeed!
17:58 the universal urge to point out a cow on the side of the road
I think the a pretty important reason for a transverse mounted engine is for handling. It keeps the engine weight closer to the center of the car.
It looks like a lot of fun. You also drive respectfully, unlike some other test drivers I've seen driving old muscle cars like Chargers etc. who just seem to want to hoon.
I had the absolute pleasure to ride shotgun in a Dino 246gt in Japan when visiting the wife’s parents. A sound and feel I will never forget! I’m 6’5” and I fitted perfectly even though the owner was a bit dubious 😉 great vid and loved hearing you rev put through the gears!
Possibly the most beautiful car ever!
OMG the sound of the engine and my sense of the handling and road feel from your excellent POV secret vicarious exeperience is almost better than food. If Marisa Tomei was with me on a drive I could adapt and forgo my hunger and ask her what she fancied doing next.
The sound of the car is breathtaking
Gotta love the classic Ferrari horn! 11:37
Awesome car. Thanks for the ride !
Awesome video and POV. Thank you. Beautiful sound. If you see this comment, you ever consider review some old JDM cars?
My absolute favourite V6 sound and an absolut dream of mine. A 246 GTS was a film car for a quite unknown TV series called „the persuaders“ in which Tony Curtis drove it. The series was shot around the French Riviera which suited that car absolutely perfectly. Sadly they are unobtainable like most Ferraris for the majority of us.
this is still my favourite video of yours and I dont know why, the ferrari V6 sings with a lot of life
They are beautiful machines and a proper Italian sports car, has all the ingredients.
This Ferrari is an amzing piece of italian car engineering. Thank you for showing . The Sound of this V6 is so great. Love your Videos. Rgards from Germany
Thanks!!
I like your Videos. In the Dino you have this typical "Frog seat position" that you have in nearly all italian cars from this time period. Are the cars you drive all your own ? @@TedwardDrives
Una delle più belle auto di tutti i tempi, dal perfetto equilibrio estetico.
Beautiful car. I remember tripping over my own jaw when I first saw one over 50 years ago. My admiration has not diminished. Countryside also very watchable. Nice drive.
WOW! Stunning car, an all time classic and favourite of mine!
Gorgeous car and the exhaust tone is awesome
What a car. The Camissa episode on the Dino was a good watch and in way shows this is a Ferrari and then some. I would be pretty animated if one of these past me on the road. The dog leg shifter would take some getting use to.
Love, love, love that sound! I’d never want to get out.
Grandad had one exactly like this may have been the only grey dino in the UK at the time it was new thanks for this tedward
Severely underrated for far too long, it’s a beautiful little sportscar.
I own that exact car but 1973. Thanks for sharing the experience! A True Ferrari, no matter what the jealous say. Cheers.
The most beautiful Ferrari of all time imo, and I love the engine sound.
If people would know the story of why it’s called Dino, then they wouldn’t call it “not a real Ferrari”
My cat and this car are similar. They both purr like kittens! Magnificent.
Loving the POV ❤
If I had my choice I'd pick this over any other Ferrari. The looks, the sound, and it looks like a super fun car to drive.
9:59 I love the slip-up of almost putting it into 1st because that'd normally be where 2nd is :)
I saw a bunch of Dinos at Pebble Beach Concours this year and Concorso Italiano. I LOVE the Dino!!! Such a classic sexy shape - possibly the best Ferrari shape ever! Funny about the wheel well front view - it reminds me of my 6 speed 911! I agree - very gorgeous! And the gated shifter is mandatory! Love the aggressive driving at 20:00.....
Oh Tedward, you're tugging at my heart. I looked at a used one in 1973. It was 20K which was a lot of money back then and I couldn't afford it. I bought a new '73 240Z for just under 5K. The sound was just intoxicating. (the Dino, not as much the 240Z)👍👍
I wonder what engine your Z had? Typically they sound phenomenal as well
@@spongeborgtheford4971 It was a 2.4L inline six. For what it was and what it cost, it held it's own. I put headers and a free flow exhaust on it. That did help.
That V6 makes beautiful music, omg 😭👌
Beautiful car, interior, and engine sound. The view from the driver's seat as you drive it around is amazing.
I'm a real Porsche lover but man, this Ferrari is something!
Absolutely beautiful. I don't care what the badge says, it's a Ferrari classic all day long.
The double throttle tap.........please and thank you!!!! You're vids are awesome, and this car was amazing.
Enzo once said that the XKE was the most beautiful cars ever made, but I think the Dino is Enzo's XKE. Just a beautiful car and I think his finest creation.
PURE CLASS!
YAASSSS, FINALLY I GET TO HEAR A DINO WIDE OPEN THROUGH SEVERAL GEARS
Curious how this stacks up to a really well sorted 240z. The Dino is what I want but I suspect the Z is all I’ll ever have the chance to get…
One of my all time favorite classic cars. It looks and sounds amazing. 9:48 is almost like an Easter egg from The Italian Job. At least this fared better than that poor poor Miura did in the movie. lol
Having worked, line for Algar Ferrari pa. back in 70's & Berkley Ferrari San fran...owned one. Restored many...and thought performance driving in club..way back when
.... the Dino 246 was one one the best balanced cars of the time..throttle steer, braking, steering feel. I should NEVER have sold mine back in 1982 in calif. Who bought it hit a deer 3 wks later and totaled it. 😢. A great fun Ferrari I could not afford again today. 😊❤
My Dreamcar since for ever
this is the ultimate pov channel
That sound. So. Fucking. Good. Great video as always brother 👏
Gets my blood running. Drove one briefly and fell for it.
Driven a Fiat Dino Spyder? Top down 246. ✌️
I remember looking at a used 246 on a luxury car dealer's forecourt just before and just after they ceased production. The price doubled in the space of 24 hours..
Love the double-blip downshifts, sounds amazing! Thank you for that!
I wish I could go back in time to the late 70's when these would pop up for sale in the Road & Track classifieds for 20 thousand. I'd buy em all.
What can we feel driving SUCH A LEGENDARY MACHINE ? lucky owner of this Dino.
I can never get enough of the dino
Just the most wonderful sounding car ever. I have a friend who owns one.
The Dino and the Daytona were the first two Ferraris I ever saw when I was young. I always wanted a Ferrari back in those days but I wound up with a Lotus Europa which was a mid engine contemporary of the 246. Then later on a few Porsches.
What a beautiful car! Imagine this brand new in the 70s how incredibly exotic it would have been
first time seing tedward enjoy the highway this much
Could have cruised alllllll day
It sounds so good!
Thanks for sharing your experience of one of the greatest cars in history. Where are the roads in your videos? I'm looking for good driving roads in eastern Massachusetts.
Is fantastic sound, but my favorite of all time is the matra v12 called "stradivarius".
That's a beautiful Italian machine!
I have a '72 corvette. Its nice to see what a higher end sportscar was like at the time. Crazy to imagine comparing this to a Vette in '72. But i do see why this would cost more. Beautiful. 😍
In the memorial of Alfredino. God how beautiful it looks and sounds. Are we really changing to the electric 😢? These sounds will be memories of an unforgettable, epic past.
This must be one of THE most beautiful objects ever created. I’m torn between this and the 365gtb/4. If I hit the lottery I’d buy the best Dino 246 I could find.
